Samus stepped foward and gulped. ''What did i do wrong?'' She asked to Alex, turning to face him and looking back at the gods. 'What is he going to tell me? Crap, i dont know! I'm anxious! I'm in the Olympus and i am relaxed in front of gods!' She thought, facepalming in her mind.
Zeus stroked his beard and regarded his daughter with feeling of guilt and regret. He looked to the other Olympians, earning a cold glare from his wife, then turned back to the half-blood standing before him. “Peace, child, you have done nothing wrong.” He said gently, or as gently as a 10 foot tall immortal could. “I have called you here to offer an opportunity, a quest that would insure the safety of all half-bloods for a while longer. It would also give you a chance to prove yourself to the others.” The Lord of the sky explained with another quick glance at his wife. Nearby, Alex’s eyes widened as he wondered what the quest was. John just looked like he was about to faint. When Mr. D saw this he rolled his eyes. “Relax satyr, we aren’t going to blast you…today.” He sighed as he took a drink of his diet coke. The king of the gods cleared his throat and continued. “I feel that you and your friends are the only ones qualified for this task and-“ He was cut off when Apollo was unable to contain himself any longer. His California accent and way of speaking made formality sound strange. “Good choice, my lord! With Prince Alex’s skill there’s no way they can fail!” the god cheered as he beamed at his son with pride. Next to him his sister mumbled “Boys!” Zeus cleared his throat again and sighed then addressed his daughter again. “Before details are given, you need to accept the quest.” He told her. The other Olympians had their eyes on the girl as her father spoke: “Samus Grace, do you accept the quest?” he asked his daughter, meeting her eyes.
She stared at Sam's back, begging her silently to accept it. Though, because of her excitement of a quest, given personally from the gods, her mask fell slightly. Her eyes burned brightly in determination and excitement and she smiled a small bit as she tried to contain herself, her fingers playing with the charm around her neck.
''I.. accept.'' The young girl answered, smiling and crossing her arms. ''What's the information?'' She asked, already impatient to begin the quest. Samus turned around to look at her friends and looked back at Zeus. She knew John would probably faint because of her answer to the quest but kind of found that funny. 'It cant be THAT bad..' She thought.
As soon as the words “I accept.” Left Sam’s lips, John gave a long worried bleat, then fainted. He laid there flat on his back with his fake feet sticking up in the air mumbling about food, nymphs, and trees. Zeus cleared his throat and nodded. "It is done. You may now receive the details.” He said in his usual formal tone. “Your task is to track down and slay 4 of the most dangerous monsters in existence.” He said gravely. “They are the Minotaur, the gorgon Medusa, the Nemean lion, and the dreaded Chimaera. They are scattered across the United States, but Lady Artemis has provided a map listing their last known locations.” He explained with a glance at the Goddess of the hunt. Apparently, Artemis wasn’t so keen on the idea of a 12 year old stealing her quest. “My lord, forgive me, but I don’t feel that a group of half-bloods should go up against monsters that are better suited against my hunters.” She said with a worried look at the two girls and a glare at Alex. Zeus held up a hand and sighed. “Peace, daughter, I feel that these children are most qualified. Hand them the map and the matter will be closed.” He said in a tone of finality. Artemis scowled and threw the map at Sam’s feet. “There. Good luck, you’ll need it.” She grumbled. "Very well, the matter is closed. You may go." he told the other Olympians. One by one each took their leave. Apollo winked at his son before disappearing to his quarters in a flash of golden light. Finally, only Hades and Zeus remained. Alex knew what was going on so he woke John up and dragged the satyr from the room. "We're gonna go see dad." he called to the girls. When Alex and John had left, the two immortal brothers turned their attention to their daughters. They stood from their thrones and their forms shimmered as they became human sized. The gods walked to the girls and said one thing "I'm sorry."
Willow bent down next to John when he fainted, lightly slapping his face to see how deeply unconscious he was before standing. When she listened to the quests details, she was worried to hear that they would go after the Minotaur and the Nemean lion. Medusa, on the other hand, she wasn't worried about. She knew she could outsmart and trick her to gain the head then all they had to do is use the head to assist them in their quest. She was uncertain about the Chimaera, but that would be the last one to deal with. Then again, she guessed that a god or two might interfere to make this more interesting for them. She ignored the Goddess of the Hunt as she went in deep of thought, closing her eyes and crossing her arms as she did so. She continued to think until the meeting was over. She was completely shocked when Sam and her were left alone with their fathers. The awkward atmosphere could have been easily cut by her thorn. When her father apologized to her, which is shocking for the king of the underworld, she nearly fainted herself. Her tongue felt dead in her mouth as she just stared at him. She pulled on her hair as she looked at Sam before looking back at her father. "Um... Don't apologize, I know you had to go. I'm not mad. The underworld would go into a state of hysteria if you were gone for so long. I hope you see mother down there though, she died shortly after you left." Willow spoke quietly as she looked anywhere but him, a small nervous smirk on her face. "Its an honor to meet you."
Samus scratched the back of her head awkwardly. ''Well.. as Willow said.. no need to apology..'' She said, looking at the floor nervously. The young girl sighed and looked back up at Zeus. ''But.. how do you give me a quest like this when i barely joined the camp 1 week ago.. And you have that much trust in me?'' She asked, a confused and nervous look on her face. ''You.. you know what?.. Forget it..'' Samus whispered before turning around and leaving the room in silence.
When he heard Willow talk about her mother, the Lord of the dead found it hard to keep a smile from his face, he had truly cared for the mortal almost as much as he cared for Persephone. “I see you have her understanding and caring.” He mused. “She said nearly those exact words to me on the day I left you. I know she passed, I see her sometimes when I visit Elysium. She told me to tell you she’s proud of you, as am I. ” He said calmly, though his black eyes burned with passion in place of their usual nothingness. “I must leave you again, Willow. Your hellhound and all the forces of the underworld shall aid you on your quest. Goodbye and good luck.” He said before disappearing in a column of shadows. As his daughter addressed him, the Lord of the sky found himself without words. He wanted to stop her when she left but decided against it. She had her mother’s independent streak and his thunderous temper. Instead of stopping the girl, Zeus just sighed and disappeared in a bolt of lightning leaving Willow alone. Moments later, Alex and John walked back into the throne room. Alex was still messing with his guitar and John was munching on some grapes he’d gotten from the Garden of Olympus. They’re faces fell a little when they saw the daughter of Hades. “Will what happened with Sam? She ran past us on our way here, she looked pretty messed up.” Alex said in a concerned voice. John tried to talk as well but he had a mouthful of fruit.
Willow turned to them, her face calm before walking towards them. "She did what most demigods do, turn their back briefly on their parent because of the abandonment. I have good news, my father said the forces of the underworld will aid us, namely me, in our quest. We better go get Sam though, let's stop and get her a few pizzas to cheer her up and we can plan. We need to talk about that car of yours. I am not interested in flying again."
As they we're talking, Samus was just in the lobby of the empire state, sitted on the floor, back leaned against a wall. Silently, she grabbed a golden pocketwatch out of her pocket and starred at it the whole time until they got back. She didnt say anything, even when she saw them arrive. The young girl just starred at the pocketwatch, sighing and looking up to her friends.
Seeing how upset Sam was, Alex and John sat by her and shot her sympathetic smiles. It was clear the young girl was suffering from a heavy case of D.A.S. aka demigod abandonment syndrome. “You ok little sparky?” Alex asked gently. John merely gave her a gentle pat on the back. “Like he really does love you Sammy. Don’t ask me how I know, I just felt it.” He told her in his usual calm. Unbeknownst to her, John had felt the emotions of guilt and a hint of fatherly love coming from the lord of the sky when he saw his daughter. There was a moment of silence before Alex cleared his throat. “Alright dudes, lets hit the road. This quest is gonna be tough so let’s grab some chow before we get started. Who wants pizza?” he asked with another wide grin.
"I do! New York is known to have the best pizza, I would like to see for myself if this is true." She smiled, a true smile and grabbed her 'cousins'' hand, giving it a small squeeze. "And hey, even if you met him, you get a quest and you just arrived barely a week ago. Be glad, some demigods even haven't had a quest, this is my first one!"
Samus sighed, putting the pocketwatch back in her pocket and stooding up. ''I have my own reeasons to hate him..'' She whispered, to herself, looking up to her friends. ''Sure, pizza sounds good.'' The young girl said, trying to smile. ''There are so many pizzarias.. in which one should we go?'' She asked.
The group made their way out of the building and into Alex's car. Before they started on their quest they had to conquer the challenge of choosing a pizzeria. "Well, there's Vito's a few blocks down from here. The owner's a child of Demeter, good dude." Alex said with a smile. Beside him, John gave a happy bleat. "Vito's sounds awesome! They make a groovy veggie supreme." he said hungrily, his mouth watering a little.
Willow sighed, leaning back in the seat when they get in the car. "Fine by me. As long as no monsters are there, I'm 'down for it'." She said quietly as she picked up her book and opened in again.
''If there's bacon pizza, then i'll come.'' Samus answered, smiling and sitting in the car. She grabbed her pocketwatch again and starred at it. 'How many seconds.. minutes.. hours.. days.. before the quest starts..' She thought, still starring at the pocketwatch. She then shook her head. ''Why am i so obsessed with time?..'' The young girl whispered, to herself.
Alex started the car, but he remembered what Willow had said so he kept it firmly on the ground. "Yeah sparky, they've got it. Vito's has like everything!" He said as he shot her a bright grin from the driver's seat. Beside him, John gave a startled "Bla-ha-ha!" And started to twist his goatee. "Meat...gross. All those poor animals." He shuddered. Alex merely patted his friend on the shoulder and pulled away from the building, making his way to Vito's Italian and Mediterranean restaurant a block away. They parked and noticed that thankfully the place wasn't too busy. Alex got out first and re-adjusted the guitar that still hung across his back on his right shoulder. The group went in quietly and sat at the closest table. John was nervous and didn't wanna draw any more attention than they absolutely had to. Unfortunately, they'd been spotted and a tall, thin man with curly dark air and a thin moustache came bouncing over to them with a grin on his kind face. He looked exactly like a chef in the movies. "Ah if it isn't two of my best customers! Oh and you brought friends, fantastic." He cheered in a thick Italian American accent. Alex and John both greeted him warmly. "What's up v-man?" Alex asked as he gave the man a fist pound. Vito chuckled and shrugged. "Ah nothing much. Hows about I bring you guys your usuals?" He asked with a grin. The guys nodded and he turned to the girls. "What can I get for you two nice girls? Since you're friends with Prince Alex and my main goat John, anything you want is half price."
"I'll have two slices of pepperoni pizza and a small soda, sir. Thank you." She smiled at the man as she took at a booth and looked around the place. "Now then, what now? What or who do we need to go first and where is he, she, or it?" She smirked, putting her hand under her chin. "I'm gonna take a wild guess too, and say the map is enchanted and will only show us the one closest to us. My guess will be Medusa!" She chuckled but knew it wouldn't be that easy.
''I'll take a full bacon pizza, please!'' Samus answered, smiling and crossing her arms. ''Medusa?.. Ugh.. This is going to quest is going to be painful..'' She said, smashing her head on the table.
Vito’s eyes widened when he heard Sam’s order. “Woah! Little girl with a big appetite. I love it!” he said with a wide grin before bouncing away to make their pizza’s. When Willow mentioned Medusa, John couldn’t keep from letting out a sharp bleat. “Like, she’s one crazy old lady. I’ve heard that not all her statues are human.” He shuddered. Alex nodded, knowing Medusa was not someone you wanted to have a staring contest with. “Check the map, Sparky. Let’s see where we’re off to first.” He suggested as he played a drum solo on the table with his fingers. Soon, Vito brought out the group’s pizzas. Alex had gotten a medium Hawaiian and John had an extra-large veggie supreme. The two boys immediately started to chow down.
