I'm terrified of not picking the right character from the list when I reply to guestbook comments on my character. Could we make it so that the dropdown list picks the profile's character by default instead of [You]? Of course all characters and you are still selectable from the list but this way I won't suffer from heart failure when I forget. Not to mention the email they get with my username in it

I agree with this, too! I'm not a programmer or whatever so don't know how this would be implemented, but it would be super helpful, and save time- and potential complications! Especially on guestbooks, where only the owner has the power to take off comments.

Lotta folks do seem to mostly reply as their characters there anyway, from what I've seen. And I'd think this would be easier than how the system currently remembers who you last posted as in any given thread or PM. But that very much depends on how it was set up to begin with.

I actually like how it is now, but I have very few annon characters and mostly enjoy not needing to worry about IC/OOC confusion. I figure that's prolly minor compared to resting safe in an unknown identity though, so I wouldn't be against something like this.
I don't think it'd work for anyone but the owner anyway. Unless you'd posted there before, I don't think the system would have any way to know who to default to short of having some extra setting added that would prolly be more problematic.

What Hack means is once you posted as the wrong identity you can't change or remove it yourself, only the guestbook owner can. Makes the issue much worse when you reply from the wrong id!

I like how the forums "remember" your character when replying to a thread. It'd be rad to have that for guestbooks. Then we only have to remember to set it once!

Or there could be a thing where you have to preview your post before it's finalized so when you see it you can see that OOP forgot to choose what character lol

I'm fairly sure that most people won't utilize a preview option actually especially because there's already a way to preview posts. In my experience extra steps just make you blindly click next without looking. If you don't catch it while you're writing your post you're probably not gonna catch it when you have to go through a preview. Forums already use what I'm suggesting here and so far it never fails to make me post as the right person in the thread. Very effective and probably simple to implement.
