But the hand destroyed the book that Vince punched, it was a cook book written by a fancy elf chief. Bathe wasn't strong, and couldn't cast anything on his own, but he wasn't stupid. He had obviously felt the Mages stupid rune on his cover, with the help of the inn keepers touch Bathe had not only transferred the tune to the cook book, but he had also bewitched the book to float east. This not only meant Bathe out smarted the mage but Vince was now close to a hundred miles behind the Psijic Text. At least he knew where Bathe was headed, and being a book he would be slower then the mage. Maybe just maybe he could catch him, but this was not all bad.
Bathe escaped, outsmarted, and dishonored Vincent. But what had the storm mage found because of it???

"Punch books often?" Athens said laughing at the boy, "your a funny one Mr. Vincent Spellborn, very funny." How did Athens know Vince? They had not met in the past, unless this stranger had met him when he was an infant or this stranger had heard rumors of him from some bored traveler who had nothing better to speak of then some novice wizard. "Your looking for Bathe are you not?" Athens had to be a mage himself just buy the way he carried himself, but he looked more like a bandit or a pirate. "This was written in fate, young one, do not fret, you will find your book soon." Athens couldn't look much older then Vince but he was acting much wiser then even Balthazar had been. Who was Athens???
Vincent's rage at being tricked completely melted away at this strange man's entrance, how the hell did he know his name. He couldn't sense any Mana being used so he couldn't be reading his mind or looking into his soul, he searched his memory for any recollection of this man but there was none, he had never met him in his life, so how, how did know not only his name, but of his quest?
"Wh-who are you, how do you know me?" Vincent inquired, his curiosity piqued.
"Wh-who are you, how do you know me?" Vincent inquired, his curiosity piqued.
The man stood and smiled, a happy go luck nature emanated from him like a free bird or a fish released back into the sea. "My name is Athens, I am the last of an Immortal race known as the Dragon Breathers." The man snapped his fingers and between his thumb and index finger formed a small blue flame, the man didn't gain his power from the mana pool like most things, he drew his power from his ember heart. His magic, if you could even call it that, tapped into his life force and tore away at his insides. But being able to heal as a dragon does, his life force regenerated faster then his magic could destroy his body. "I have been around since the before the first era, when the first dragons created this world and all other things."
"A... Dragon Breather?" Vincent breathed out in utter shock and amazement, which was quickly replaced with intrigue. "No way, seriously? That... that's amazing!" The mage gawked, a large grin on his face. "I mean... oh my god, this... this really is just incredible, nobody's seen a Dragon Breather in... well forever, everybody thought they were extinct. A strange notion considering they're supposed to be immortal, but that just added to the mystery, one that my grandfather once even tried to solve." He shifted through his belongings bringing out one of his grandfather's journals.
"He came really close too, but then he had a break through with the Psijic Text so that took..." Just then he was reminded of his quest, and of his anger. He plastered an angry look on his face and threw the journal on the ground in anger "Damn it, I don't have time for this!" Vincent said before reaching into his bag and bringing out a black marker, beginning to draw a Rune Circle on the ground. "I know, I can scry for him, if he used a spell to undo my Rune than I should be able to... damn it, no, I have no idea what the exact Rune Sequence the spell used to be engraved into the grimoire, I mean, I know it was a Rune Removal and replacement spell, and a levitation charm, but this is the Psijic Text we're talking about, the sequence must be hella complicated, so... GAH what do I do!"

"We walk, Vince," Athens put a hand on the boys shoulder. To Athens this had been played out many times before, he didn't want to reveal too much to Vince but he did want to get him on the right path. "Where were you two last heading, maybe he went there?" Athens knew where Bathe was heading, he knew where the book was exactly but phrasing things in obvious question form wouldn't bring too many questions up just yet. If he did jump to answer too many questions the fate of the two book and boy would be ascue. As long as they found Seedar, fought off the assassin from the anti-arcanists, and headed to the Well of Spirits, then everything would be fine.
"Oh, I know he's heading there next, the guy's obsessed with unbinding himself from the Psijic Text, not that I blame him exactly." Vincent replied. "I mean, it's not exactly an ideal situation, and I'd love to get the Psijic Text back minus the idiot Mage who probably wouldn't know jack about magic if he wasn't melded with a grimoire, we pretty much want the same thing, so why..." He contemplated, before realizing the stranger was still there.
"Oh sorry, didn't mean to vent like that to you, my problems probably seem really trivial to such an ancient being such as yourself." He respectfully apologized. "Anyway, I better get going if I want to catch up to that jerk, if you're ever in the Ember Isles look me up, I'd love to pick your brain if you'd let me." With that he opened the Rune Portal he used before, about to transport back to the inn he started at to at least save him from walking back.

"Well we will be meeting again young mage," Athens had a few things to do to prepare for his next encounter with Vince. "Just be wary, not everyone is as... Helpful as you may hope for them to be." Athens waved as Vince stepped into the rune portal, "ta ta Vince Spellborn!"
After a few hours of floating Bathe had gotten tired, but a book couldn't just lay down and rest, so he eventually found a tree just off the side of the road and his himself in a hole in the tree. Completely in aware of the cultists heading the opposite way on horse back. And if Vince picked up his pace, he would run into Borron and the Anti-Arcanist organization right around the same area as Bathe was now hidden in. And as much as Bathe hated Vince, he wouldn't just let cultists capture and kill the boy... Would he?
