What if there was a location somewhere, a door, which could lead you to the origin of magic? What if this door could give you the power of a god? What would you do with it? Save a dying world? Or be the coup de grace to it? Do you have what it takes to wield such power?

A wafer of a moon shined over the illuminated city, New York city no less. Just as it's nickname, it lives down as the city that never sleeps. Even after 12:00 pm on a warm Saturday night, the city seems as lively as ever and the many sounds of car horns and soft murmur of conversations fill and mingle with its usual sounds. Though as to why you were out so late, are reasons of your own. As you walk down a deserted alley you notice a hood figure, a young woman no less. Her soft and unusual, light sky blue eyes, lock on to yours only briefly yet you find yourself compelled to watch her movements. The women removed her hood, reveling long silver hair and turns abruptly to a nearby brick wall. Slowly you watch as she places her palm on the brick wall and with a blinding white light, the wall begins to unravel and leaves a single blue portal. Turning around she motions for a dirty, street man to follow and soon they disappear into the blue swirling portal together, leaving you very confused and awestruck.

What the hell just happened? What have you just witnessed? You question yourself as you quicken your steps to arrive at your destination. Did she really just open a portal or whatever the hell that was? Was it some kind of magic? Just who was she? What was behind the brick wall?

York was the son of a rich Business man, and when his father was murdered a bit over a month ago Ramsley was given the entire empire. Rhyno Banking Corperation dealt in stocks and investments for smaller companies who couldn't do it for themselves without losing every penny they had. So all Ramsley had to do was sit back and take in the money, some say York took his fathers life but the police hadn't finished their investigation yet. But surprisingly Ramsley York was doing a good job of keeping a calm and collected attitude while he spent his fathers money and slept with woman across the city. His little addiction for petty thief wasn't exactly helping his case but it wasn't like he needed the small things he stole, he could afford ten thousand bottles of Vodka, but tonight he slipped out of a Seven Eleven with a bottle of Skyy hidden in his jacket.

Turning down the ally to take a short cut up a block to his apartment high rise... "Who was that woman I just saw."

I gotta hurry...it will catch up behind me...I think I see the end..
Talia grunted painfully as her body collided with the floor. With the portal closing behind her she let out a huge collective sigh of relief.
"I made it..." She muttered incredulously, though happy nonetheless. Talia had completed her task and now she could relax at least until she was called on again. Standing up on her feet, she took notice of her surroundings. Apparently she had landing in some fancy apartments, probably for the heirs of Wall Street Kings and Queens. Sighing dreamily, Talia wondered what it would be like to stay in one of them. Though she doubted she could ever afford one....She would have to be made of money to get one.
"Rich kids get all the advantages," Talia mused out loud before making her way down the street where she frequented the small Diner down there. She hoped Janice was in today, Talia was seriously craving a cup of coffee and blueberry pancakes.


Smiling gleeful, Talia finished off her final blueberry pancake. This was her second stack and Talia was still hungry. Janice, Talia's friend and overprotective motherly figure, had teased and questioned her on where she had been the last few days.
"I bet you were meeting a boy? Is he cute?" Janice asked her once while she was on break. Talia sighed and waved the waitress' questions off. Talia didn't dabble in romance, especially not with her powers still active. No one would understand them anyhow....
"Anyway, it's already six, Talia and you can't hide out here forever" Janice scolded her playfully before returning to her job. Sighing once again, Talia glanced up at the t.v on the wall.
"Men found dead in alley way...." She repeated with a little to no interest. It seemed her guest had failed...

Ramsley sat in the police office, "I told you jack asses once, must I tell you again!?!" On the officers table sat the stollen bottle of Vodka, "I didn't kill the guy, some white haired girl did!!!" The officer wasn't listening to him, did this blonde haired jerk know who he was? "I'm one of the richest men on the east coast, you can't keep me here.... I CALLED YOU GUYS AS SOON AS I FOUND THE DAMN BODY!!!" The hand cuffs rattled as he tried to free his hands to no avail.

Officer Samuel J. Thorne looked at the rich boy, it was true that Mr. York had called in this murder. But the officer also knew that Ramsley York was on trial for a murder himself and that enough was reason to keep York in custody for this murder, "we can detain you for 72 hours Mr. York..." Sam left the station and got into his cop car, driving back to the crime scene he wanted to investigate that brick wall once more. The white haired girl, she was with the guy, I swear she killed him and vanished... A portal into a brick wall. Officer Thorne needed another look at the wall, flipping his siren on he raced back towards the crime scene... "Why am I even humorist this lead, York is as insane as his angry father," he lit a cigarette. This would be the highlight of his weak if he really did find a magic door.

The killer was never suppose to return the crime scene, although Talia wasn't necessarily the killer. Yet as she approached the crime scene, Talia made sure to keep her head down as she studied the cops and detectives that littered the alleyway. Letting her eyes slip from the masses of policemen, her blue orbs fell unto the dead man's body. He apparently suffered from a huge hole in his chest, eyes glass white and his mouth twisted into pain and fear. Though she felt remorse at his obviously painful death, Talia was also saddened that he had failed her "test" and would no doubt have to search for another "guest", thus was her never-ending quest.
"I need another guardian...and fast..." She muttered, giving the body one more glance over. Hopefully his soul would find peace in the afterlife, Talia would help him pass on sooner or later.

Officer Thorne looked at the whole in the man, his insides had been torn apart as if a drill tore through it. But there was no giant drill anywhere, and there was no bits of metal or dirt bound in his body, sown into his blood. "Portals and magic... Last time I saw a Disney movie I don't remember people being ripped through, do you detective." No response was merit, fore the detectives hated Sam, he had been given many opportunities to become a detective and turned down each time. In Sam's opinion being an agent of the police force still let him wear a sport coat and tie, but gave him less paper work at the end of the day. "Just making a joke..." Sam took a sip of coffee and stood looking around at the people at the edge of the crime scene, "now who looks guilty?"

Turning around to leave, Talia finally raised her head, ignoring the fact that her hood had fallen. As far as she knew the Police had already convicted their killer and although, once again, she felt bad about pinning her "crime" on someone else, Talia figured her reasoning for doing so was for the greater good. So far she had went through three guardians in a month and they were all assigned to protect her "gift" that lay within the portal to her realm. Though Talia couldn't confess to that. They would find her crazy and probably put her in an insane asylum. After all, normal humans would never be able to understand the magic and yet darkly beautifully world she lived in.
"They will always close their eyes when faced with something not of this world...." She muttered softly, running a hand through her silvery white hair. It was time to keep searching then....that is, if she didn't get caught...

Sam saw the hooded woman and began to approach, she matched a description of a figure seen leaving the crime scene the night before. He thought she could be important to the investigation but before he could get close the radio dispatch shouted something urgent on the other side of the static. Picking up the radio Sam sighed, "what do you mean York escaped... Who was watching him?"

"I wish you luck...." Talia murmured as she closed another portal behind two promising subjects. She hoped they would fair better than the previous one, Talia would definitely feel a whole lot better without seeing another death. If only she could stay a little bit longer without facing such huge consequences. Why couldn't Talia just live a normal life?!

"You came back huh?" Came Janice snarky comment as Talia reared her head in the dinner that evening.
"Sorry I was-" She began to explain but Janice wasn't having it!
"I was worried about you when I heard the news about the dead body found in that alley yesterday and you didn't even have the decency to come by today and speak to me?!" Janice huffed, clearly upset. Talia sighed, feeling bad that she had caused her friend to worry so much about her. But what could she tell her? That Talia had been the one to place that innocence man's life on the line to live her "normal" one?!
"Sorry Janice..." She said softly, sitting in a booth next to a slightly dirty window. Maybe cleaning it and a few dishes would ease Janice's wrath?

The rich convict stumbled a few blocks in his cuffs trying to get some distance from the police station, he didn't want to return to the scene of the crime but a portal out of New York with help... Well York. "I hate this city," he said hailing a taxi.

"No way..." Squinting her blue eyes in attempts to see through the soapy water that now covered the windows. It was the man...the one that had saw Talia that night. She wondered what had happened between him and the police being that all over the news, his picture and name floated across the screen as "Number one suspect". What had he seen that night? And most importantly, what had he told them?! Talia had to know....it was now or never. Placing her watery soap bucket on a nearby table, Talia bolted out the door and into the streets without an explanation to Janice.

"Excuse me!!" Talia ran quickly to catch up with the convict who seemed very disgruntled with being in chains. Somehow he had managed to trail down a taxi and was in the process of getting into it but Talia couldn't understand how no one seemed to notice he was still in handcuffs! Also how did he escape the police?!
"You...You saw me..." Her blue eyes bore intently into his face, trying to read his every reaction. For someone who controlled the fates of others, it was odd to meet someone who could change hers.

Rams pulled himself out of the cab, "it's you, you were the one who killed that guy!" Using both hands, because of the cuffs, he threw a weak punch towards her face! Why punch a girl? Because she was trying to get him thrown in jail, THAT'S WHY!!!

Talia dodged his punch, stepping to the side. She had never seen anyone more visibly upset at her than him. Though grant it, he had every right to be, Talia supposed. He was going to jail because of her....
"You need to calm down, hush" Talia said to him, her eyes glancing around them nervously. He was no doubt causing a scene and negative attention or well any attention at all, was something Talia desperately wanted to avoid.
"I understand your upset, but I can help you get out of this situation." She offered him a wry smile, hoping he would just say yes and follow her. It would be better this way, Talia could possibly knock at two stones with one bird....or was it two birds with one stone? Whatever, metaphors weren't Talia's thing.


Helping people, saving this world, is what was her thing. Or at least Talia was trying to make it her thing. The orb...It needed to be protected, needed a proper guardian to watch over it while Talia was away. Though he obviously hated her guts, maybe he could persuaded to become the guardian? Talia surely hoped so, it would make things a lot simpler....

Shooting a warning shot went a miss and the bullet hit the target in a place Officer Thorne never intended, "damnit...." Approaching he called to the woman, "halt...." She made Sam feel weird, like they had known eachother in a past life. He ignored the feeling for now and called to her again, "get on the ground!" Feeling Rams neck he sighed, this was the second one he killed, he was gonna have his badge taken. His career was over, his heart stopped. "Code 49," his said in his radio, "did you know him?" Sam asked Talia as he closed the man's eyes.

Talia was speechless, though more out of shock than fear. The smell of copper was heavy, as the blood of the man she was talking to, choked on his own blood before slipping away forever. He was gone, just like that, by a bullet. A small bullet had taken away possibly the one person who could've helped with her mission, that could save this world and-
"Halt...Get down on the ground!" Talia whipped her head around, staring almost through the Officer with the gun. His presence...It was so familiar, like she had met him before. Maybe she had? Talia wasn't like other people...She searched her memory, his fate lines and found one single golden thread. It was beautiful, bold, bright, and bewitching; making Talia want to grasp it more than ever. Just who was he?

"I don't know him..." Talia quickly processed the situation, trying to get her mind off of the Officer and back to reality. Sometimes even her own powers, confused her. What was she doing again? Trying to avoid the police so she could...?
"I need to go, I uh wish you luck on your investigation" Came out of her lips before she could stop herself and Talia's legs forced her to run away from the man. She knew he would no doubt follow her, chase her, but it was just a random impulse that she had jumped upon and took a risk.

"God damnit," he touch a button on his radio, "we've got a runner, requesting back up on 43rd and Halsted!" He pressed a button on his keys to lock his cop car and began his chase, cutting down an ally then over two more blocks he found himself gaining on her, "stop! Police!"

Talia's breath hitched and her heart thumping loudly in her ears as she ran throughout the streets, jumping over scattered trash cans and around zooming cars. Running away from an officer who had a police car and could probably run her over with it, wasn't one of Talia's best ideas but she didn't have time to think about that. What mattered was that, Talia was running out of time and if she didn't think of something soon...this world and the people in it would be to!
'I need to return to the sanctuary, before it's too late...Save the two mortals I put there and-'

"Stop! Police!" The sound of the previous officer's voice alerted Talia that he was closer than she had thought. That wasn't a good sign...
"Leave me alone, you don't understand! What I have to do is important!!" She yelled over her shoulder. Quickly, she slid off into the last alley on the main street, seemingly to have been a dead end. She wheezed, trying to catch her breath before, turning to the brick wall. Pressing her hand against the cool brick, Talia closed her eyes briefly, allowing her magic to pull at the secret entrance into the sanctuary. This could be her chance...

Two static pins shot out of Sam's taser zapping Talia in the back, "I told you *pant* to stop..." Catching his breath as he examined the fallen girl, he saw a strange light coming from the brick wall, he wondered why she had stopped here. Was she out of breathe, was she asthmatic? He latched a cuff on her wrist then the other, "suspect detained at west North Avenue and Belmont, requesting transport." He looked at the girl who strangely reminded him of a past love, who was she? "You have the right to remain silent, anything you do or say can be used against you in a court of law," as the Miranda right flowed out of his lips all he could think about was how beautiful she was, even if she was insane.

Talia groaned, slightly disoriented. One moment she was standing up straight, her magic flowing through her hand and the white light of the portal shining on her face. Next, she was writhing on the ground, making sounds like she was having a massive spasm. As the officer clamped the handcuffs around her wrist, Talia felt very strange. What was happening? How had she lost control?
"The portal...I need to close it..." She mumbled wearily, struggling to remove her hands from the cuffs. If it wasn't closed properly, it would no doubt attract all sorts of evil.
"Please, let me go" Talia tried again to get free, though her struggle seemed futile. She was weak, running for three blocks and using her magic for two days straight without proper rest had drained her. She could barely even keep her eyes open.

Jerking her head up, Talia's eyes locked on the officer, his golden thread had caught her attention again. Why was it gold? It definitely had a meaning to it...and his presence felt so familiar. Her eyes traveled across his face. His eyes, his voice, even his fate lines, they all felt so-
"Argh!" A stabbing pain racked Talia's brain, making her vision blurry. The world spun before her eyes, making Talia feel sick. She staggered several steps before everything was consumed by blackness.
