Just some random questions. I wasn't sure where to put it so its here haha :P
So here it is; what do you guys think of multiverse characters, as in characters that pretty much have different forms for each fandom they're in? (For example, a character made for MLP:FIM but also has a form for Naruto, Homestuck, Attack on Titan, and perhaps even more.)
I'm mainly asking this because I had a concept of making a character that could travel between dimensions and such, and I was hoping on including one universe in particular. This is mostly because I want to make the character flexible for a few fandoms, yet hopefully not look like a sue as I'm going to explain how he/she/they got there.

Yup. So what's your opinion on this? Do you think a character like this can be made without looking OP or like a Mary sue?
Wonder Rarity (played by Sanne)

Is this the kind of character you mean with multiverse? Or do you mean having one character as a base for two different characters in different worlds? I'm not entirely sure what you plan on having happen when the character travels.

Whichever one it is, I think both have a much higher 'risk' of being OP/MS due to the fact they have 'the best of both worlds'. That doesn't mean they have to be, because ultimately whether one is OP/MS or not depends on the setting they play in. Are all characters involved similar to yours? Then they're likely closer to average and don't stand out much. Is your character incredibly special and unusual in the setting? Then it's more likely they're OP/MS. So it's hard to say without having more information, but in all honesty you can probably tone down any character enough to make them playable without it being too much.

I personally tend to avoid them. I prefer characters that are 'locked' to a particular setting, unless there is an IC explanation that they are capable of being in multiple settings.

For example, my lich character has a vessel that allows him to go through the veil between worlds - this is how I have explained characters in the past getting from their world (oft' my AU historical one) to the world/setting that I am playing in.

So, when there is an IC reason I'm fine with it, if the reason is plausible and well thought out instead of just 'because I can'. But if there is no IC reason and it is just merely an OOC thing, then I tend to be far more tempted to decline RP offers.
I have her as a multiverse oc:

Though, in all honesty, for me, I've found it easier to just make seperate versions of the character for each place I rp at so connections and such don't get jumbled and such. On top of that, different settings allow for different things so different versions of the character allow you to keep the same basic concept for a character while allowing you to make slight alterations to fit the character into that setting.

Plus, I personally feel more connected to the rp community when I have the version of the character for just that community.

i have charaters that can be played in different realms and hae cross overs i only have one charter that is a true multiverse but because she is a powerful chcater she only comes out in rps that are appropriate for her power base..or she dose cameos
I'm okay with them, so long as their dimension hopping legitimatly doesn't make them OP. On it's own, I don't consider a character going from one dimension to another as being op or mary sueish, just an interesting power. I sort of have a multiverse character in the form of Jenny Willow, but instead of her being able to hop from dimension to dimension, it's just a different version of the character.
