Ellie grinned as he pulled her back to the chair, her throat sore from coughing. "Thanks." she said, before he hugged her. She chuckled and hugged him back, staying in his embrace just a tad bit longer because his hugs were the best ones. She pulled away and smiled, shaking her head at his words. "No problem. I wouldn't miss my best friend's party for the world." she said, reaching over and messing up his hair like she always did. Nostalgic memories flashed in front of her eyes from their previous relationship, all the cute and fluffy ones, before it fast-forwarded to her yelling at him, him storming out, and her crying in her room the next day. Why? How had it all started? Why was she so mad at him in the first place? The aching feeling came back again and she barely heard his next few words. Her eyes widened and she looked up, a hopeful expression crossing over her face - could they ever be back together again? And then he spoke some more, and her hopefulness was squeezed out of her. Of course. What kind of person goes back to his or her ex? Nonetheless, she smiled a bit awkwardly and nodded. "I know, I miss that too. With college and everything, we barely have enough time to see each other and hang out...as friends."

Rams filled the awkwardness with a Manhattan and an apple martini, buying one of each for Ellie as well. By the time the martinis were getting to the bottom of the glasses the mood had been loosened once again and Rams remembered the mysterious gift he had received, "oh hey, did you get me that flash drive???" The bar keeper shot the two a quick glance and any smile he had faded. "It came in a mysterious box and I think I left it at my apartment..." He had forgotten that it was right there in his pocket, but as he mentioned the drives location a few people got quiet while others stood up and left the bar. Unknowing to Rams they were headed towards his apartment to look for it. "Bar keep, I need one White Russian please... That's drink nine right, I mean drink the next one correct?" The tender nodded solemnly and put the glass of milk and vodka down before him.

"Goodness, Rams, you have to stop giving me these drinks...I haven't even eaten dinner yet!" Ellie said with a laugh, feeling the slight throb of an incoming headache in her mind. She placed a hand over her forehead and rubbed her eyes a bit, her vision getting slightly blurry. At the mention of a flash drive, she frowned and shook her head in reply. "No, I only got you the gift I brought to you myself." she said, confusion edging her voice. She too was oblivious to the bartender's faded smile and how most of the people got up and left the scene. "Oooh, Raams, do you have a secret admirer?" she giggled, nudging her friend with a raised eyebrow. "C'mon, you can tell me...is it Lucy Bridgewell? She's super pretty and nice, wouldn't see why she wouldn't go for you. Or maybe it's Delilah Parker..."

"No," Rams laughed sipping on his drink, he hated White Russians but it was drink right so he had to finish it. "Delilah only dates you if your in a band, then she sleeps with the rest of the band members while your together," he laughed. "And Cindy is worse... She um, what that one annoying trait she has?" He giggled, half drunk, "catholic! That's it!!" Rams wasn't only not religious but he had a strong hatred for religion and those who were religious because of his father trying to force Christianity on him when he was a wee squirt.

"Duuuude, Delilah is such a weird hooker." Ellie mumbled, a hiccup coming from her and barely echoing throughout the bar. She giggled again and tilted her head back to regain her train of that. "She's dated four bands this month!" And as if to emphasize, she held up five fingers, when she really meant to hold up four. If she wasn't drunk, her sober part of mind would slap her silly now. She laughed once she heard about Cindy, looking to him with wide eyes. "So that's why you rejected her! You're very picky, Rams. Very picky." She poked Ramsley on the nose to prove her point, adding a sound effect as well just for the hell of it.

The tower of drinks kept falling one by one, drink nine, ten, eleven, all faded. "Jello Shots all around," he laughed at himself because it was just him and her at their little party. A few other "people" sat around in the booths but they were mostly quiet. As the Jello-Shots vanished York stood, "I'm gonna out stepside for a cigarette," he giggled dorkily at his his own words. "You don't smoke right??"

"Who says I don't?" Ellie replied back in a sassy tone, getting off of her bar stool and placing her hands on her hips. "Of course I do! I've been doing it ever since senior year of high school." she said, walking to him and linking her arm with his. "C'mon, let's go out for a cigarette. Do you have a pack?" she asked, leaning on him a bit since it was getting hard for her to walk in place with heels on. She was by far drunk now, a mix of the Jello Shots, margaritas, Fireball, and who knows what else all getting into her system and making her seem more loose and free.

He dropped cash on the counter but assured the bar tender that he would be right back. Upon walking out side he lit up a cig and handed one to Ellie. Lighting his lighter he put his left hand gently on the back of her neck pulling her forward, drawing her smoke into the flame to receive its light. "One more week until summer... My father wants me to take summer classes but I hate him and this place." He looked up at the stars, "I don't know I just feel like this world is boring." He didn't want to go into some boring desk job in a year, he wanted to drink and smoke, he wanted to hook up with pretty girls like Ellie and... Well maybe he did want to grow up. The thought of him hooking up with a girl like Ellie sickened him. She was too amazing to be used for a night then tossed aside. A second sickness washed over him, why was he thinking like that? He was only twenty two, why was he thinking about love and future plans? That shit was for adults not college kids.

Ellie squeaked a bit as she was pulled closer to Rams, her cheeks burning red from the physical contact even though she was drunk. She slowly tilted her her cigarette close enough for it to catch a flame, and then pulled it away. As Rams continued to talk, she didn't put it in her mouth. "Y'know what's not boring?" she said, raising up the stick between two fingers. "The fact that I've never smoked in my entire life." She grinned and lifted it to her lips, inhaling and trying to do it like he did. Unfortunately, this did not end well, and she ended up coughing out puffs of smoke. "How do you even do that?" she asked with a frown, staring at him. Then she frowned and stepped a bit closer, wrapping a comforting arm around him - hopefully a friendly gesture to him. "Don't let other people decide what you wanna do, Rams. The world isn't exciting for you? Well, then, make it exciting. Nothing's stopping you, y'know."

As she said that a man shoved Ellie into the side of the tavern and punched Rams in the gut causing the cigarette to fall from his mouth and leaving him on his hands and knees. "What the hell man!?!" Drunk and wounded he tried to stand but the man brought a kick to his side pushing him into the empty street. Where is the Key? An almost robotic voice was spouting out of the figure, but as he stepped into the street it was plain to see that it was Rex. "Rex what are you...? Looking down the last kick had cause York to smash his watch leaving the time at 10:38, "dude this watch wasn't cheap!" Where is the Key!" who ever this guy was who looked like Rex, it wasn't him... Not anymore.

Just about when Ellie was going to inhale another puff of the cigarette, she found herself thrown to the side of the tavern. Her body hit the wall with a loud thud, and her body slid down, her head limply hung as she sat on the ground. Ragged breaths escaped her and she could barely grasp the situation. She felt liquid trickling down the side of her head, and her trembling hand reached toward it to touch the liquid. Once she pulled her hand away, she saw blood across her fingertips. She blinked once, twice, until the intensity of her headache arrived and she felt like ripping her head into pieces. Her vision began to flicker from black to white, and she struggled to regain her vision. For a split second she did, and all she saw was her ex-boyfriend laying on an open road, with his friend - Rex? - standing in front of him. A strangled gasp escaped her as she saw Rex kick him, and she closed her eyes in frustration, trying to move. But she couldn't. At that moment, she realized that she couldn't feel anything, her limbs, nothing. She couldn't do anything. All she could do was watch as her friend was beaten up to death or taken somewhere. Her fingers twitched and she reached out towards him, her vision getting blurry. "Rams.." she breathed, before her world went black.

A car whizzed pasted just a foot and a half from his head honking loudly. "The key, what key?" The man walked towards him as Rams crawled backwards further into traffic before struggling up, back on his feet. You said it was at your apartment, but that statement was false! As the 'Relacement' walked forward a car honked twice and swerved slightly as it passed behind him. "Who are you? I know your not Rex..." Rams changed direction and moved parallel with the sidewalk, still in the middle of the street. That is none of your concern Ramsley York, the Replacement said taking strong strides towards the half drunk college kid. As headlights ran across the pavement Rams felt in his pocket, it was the flash drive. "You mean this?" He through it towards Ellie yelling, "CATCH!!!" Rex jumped to snag it but the car smashed into him and skidded into a street lamp.

The street was silent for a moment, that's when Rams realized. "No one is coming out, no one seems to have even noticed..." He walked over to Ellie looking in the direction of the car. Instead of blood everywhere there was just machine parts and torn bio-rubber replica flesh. Not that drunk Rams would know that but still, "are you ok Ellie?"

Ellie drowsily was pulled out of unconsciousness, blinking up at Ramsley once she had regained back her vision. "You didn't die!" she whispered, joy flooding over her expression as she stood up. She wavered a bit, almost falling, before she practically engulfed him in another tight hug. "That scared the shit out of me." she murmured, looking to the road and seeing the torn up robotic pieces. "I'm sorry I couldn't help you...that Megatron thing threw me hard." she said with a lopsided grin, her still in a slight drunk state. "Looks like you killed him, though. But what the hell happened, anyway? Are you okay?" she asked, stepping back to inspect him to see if he was injured.

"I didn't kill him," Rams said trying to make Ellie smile, "he just forgot to look both ways." Rams picked up the flash drive and shoved it back in his pocket, "I guess I can't finish my twenty one drink challenge." Rams frounded, he had to get his friend to the ER. "It doesn't look too bad but I'll take you into the General incase you've got a concussion. He had been halfway there but no way could he go back into Duffy's after that.

"I'd still like to think you killed him, though." Ellie said with a weak smile, clutching her head as the throbbing faded away and then came back again. "No, it's fine - you don't have to take me to the doctors. A birthday shouldn't be spent there. Just some Advil and tea will work." She looked around and sighed, taking his hand and squeezing it reassuringly. "How about we go back home? I'll bake you a cake and we can have a traditional party. The cake can be rum cake, if you desire." she said, trying to get his hopes up and to forget about all that's happened.

Rams smiled and nodded, the two passed the wreck as they headed back to Ellie's house, still no sign of blood. It was so odd, "who was that guy?" The even weirder part was that the driver was the same thing, he had been whatever Rex had turned into.

Ellie's place wasn't to far from the little in town square. But upon getting just a block away they say a bunch more people at her place. Cops, teachers, neighbors, students, all her friends and his! "Did you call a party? Just for me??" It was more of confusion then happiness. These people were acting robotic same as the 'Replacement who attacked them no more the fifteen minutes ago.

"This is scaring me Ellie," there was another bar two or three blocks over, they could go finish the challenge if they wanted to... Glass broke and a computer fell from a window at Ellie's place. "Wanna head to McGillin's???" Taking her hand he pulled her through an alley, this night was sure getting odd now.

Ellie felt her mood lighten up a bit as they walked to her home, hoping that Lydia wasn't still playing her hardcore metal soundtrack like always. However, once they had reached, things were far from different. Her mouth dropped open and she gasped, shaking her head stiffly in response to Rams' question. "No...even if I did, you would have known - you know how bad I am with surprises!" she said, worriedly looking to the robotic images of what used to be her friends and people she knew of. She felt back a terrified gasp as she heard the sound of windows breaking.

They both ran into the alley, her hand clinging to his in a tight grip, unsure of everything that is happening so far. "I'm scared too, Rams." she whispered softly, still looking around as if something was going to pop out of nowhere. "Y'know what's funny? I actually thought that we were the last humans on Earth. But, that couldn't happen..." She gulped. "Right?"

He had no response to her question as he pulled her into the bar, it was near empty as it was just past eleven at night on a Sunday. Only a few faces were in McGuillen's tonight but it looked safe enough. They sat down at the front bar and the tender asked what they wanted to have. A drink wouldn't hurt, they had their nerves up to high and a drink or two would take the pain off her head and his scrapes and bruises. "One Hairy Naval," York said trying to lighten the mood, "drink number twelve..."

"One Fireball shot." she said kindly to the bartender, but avoided his gaze. She pressed her lips together and nervously drummed her fingertips on the counter top, trying to calm herself down and to keep from exploding. "Rams, if you complete this challenge successfully," she began to say in a joking tone, turning the stool so that she was facing him. "Then I know what I'm going to do for my 22nd birthday party next year." The shot was placed next to her, and she stared at it before picking it up, mixing the liquid together and looking up at Ramsley with a wide smirk.

After he finished his vodka juice he got up and went to the bathroom, returning after a moment with a damp paper towel pushing it gently onto Ellie's head. "Are you sure your ok, no dizziness or anything?" That was a stupid question and Rams knew it the moment he said it. They were drinking of course they were gonna be a bit dizzy. "How bad does it hurt? One to ten," his plan was to have one or two more drinks then head out. Up a block then over four to another pub called the Black Shamrock. That tavern was just a hop and a slip away from the hospital, so he would continue drinking but also get his friend some help, selfish but in his drumken mind 'a good plan!'
