I actually just thought about another possibility. Although, I feel like this one is a bit more loose than the titanic. Bonnie and Clyde could be another possibility.

Cleopatra's romance with Mark Antony could be a possibility. I just read up on it, Although I feel this one is stretch. Look it up and give me a bit of feedback on it.

Hmm. If we want to go along the historical route, why not doomed romances? The Taj Mahal was built out of grief, for one, and the letters of Abelard and Heloise are not quite as famous, but certainly expressive of sadness.

hmm, I could see those being a possibility. But, I can't see them fitting all the three criteria. Mainly because of the first clue.

Honestly, the first and second clue are the confusing portions to me.

There is also a Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare also a tragedy so there is another good contender I think.

Actually, a second look at Abelard and Heloise's story, makes me think otherwise. It definitely seems to fit the criteria.

As for the Taj Mahal, I don't see how it fits the first clue. Although, at this point I probably am overlooking something.

Can I just pop in here and say that the seal with the hard goodbyes and unresolved romance could totally be a Dr. Who thing? =x Because I can totally see it being a Dr. Who thing.

I was thinking that too, but I'm not sure how that works with "the truest expression of sadness". There are also different options - are we talking about Rose? She's not part of an unresolved romance because she eventually gets to be with the Doctor's human clone. Maybe River Song comes to mind?

They are a romance that was unsoved to their peers.

They both where so love struck that they couldn't say good bye, even in death.

Finally, They both committed suicide in greif of the other's death. The only thing they could think of to express their sadness.
