Our only guess at it so far has been Claptrap, I love Claptrap.

The Rock-Paper-Scissors tangent was from the elemental weapon fighting, by the way. Thinking about it now it seems too much of a stretch.

The robot boot, Wiz? I'm finding the symbol in the bottom left corner to be super familiar.
WAIT A MINUTE
I'm like 99% sure there is a robot in Mega Man who is a pair of scissors. There's also, of course, Rockman
Tar

MEGAMAN. That feels hecka like the right direction with the boot style.
Scissors cut paper
Paper covers rock
Rock crushes lizard
Lizard poisons Spock
Spock smashes scissors
Scissors decapitate lizard
Lizard eats paper
Paper disproves Spock
Spock vaporizes rock
Rock breaks scissors

Could it be any simpler?

I was also kind of thinking Chrono Trigger's Robo as well.
Tar

Also an excellent direction to look in - also, have we even found the guardian for the Klingon symbol...?

If a hero steals from his foe, is it still theft? (Killing foe grants their power)
Rock-Paper-Scissors applies to how you face any of the levels...

RUSH?!

Edit: Megaman fits better. I think that should be ran with.
Tar

At least we have a foot forward on that one! If the Trek one shows up I gotta be able to get that one, hahaha.
I will also say as an aside that I did not originally see the Robotic Seal as a boot but instead as a very peculiarly shaped machine with a single eye.
Gasp!
YES, IT HAS TO BE RUSH. Versatile, and he can turn into things, can't he?
That's what I thought too Wizard.
A thing to test! Let me plop it up on ye olde list.

That he can!
Wikipedia wrote:
Rush (ラッシュ Rasshu?) is a robotic dog belonging to Mega Man. He is introduced in Mega Man 3, and has appeared in many games since. Created by Dr. Light and Dr. Wily to be an all around support unit, Rush has the ability to transform into various forms. Rush Marine transforms Rush into a small, one-seated submarine, and Rush Jet transforms his legs into jet engines that let him take flight. Rush also has the Rush Coil, which is a spring that pops out of his back and helps Mega Man reach higher platforms that he normally can't access. Other games have him transform into a motorcycle and a drill car, and in the fourth and fifth Game Boy games as a spaceship. In later games, the Rush Adaptor allows Rush to attach himself to Mega Man, allowing him to float, shoot more powerful blasts, and launch his arms as projectiles. In a couple of games including Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 8, Rush can be used to obtain helpful items, such as health.
I think that's a good, solid guess. A few more of those for this seal and others and I think we'll be in shape for asking our warrior friends to get us to the portal.

My father is on the phone telling me how excited he was to get Wizard's letter and be asked to be involved this year.
