Scarlette was wandering around in the ocean one day, when she saw a sunken ship in the distance. She wasn't going to go near it, but curiosity soon got the best of her, and she swam towards it. After a few more meters of swimming, she was directly in front of the old, mossy boat. She grabbed the handle of the entrance, and pulled. After a few strenuous tries, it flung open. She cautiously swam in. She snooped around for a bit, when she found a room with an old rusty jail cell. "This must be the brig of the boat.." she thought to herself. She then swam inside of the cell, just wanting to explore it a bit, but after she entered, the cell door slammed shut, locking her inside. She tried pulling on the rusting cell, but it didnt work. She then began to scream out, "Help! Help! Anyone!"
"Er, hello?" A voice from some other cell across from her said. From the shadows of the cell across the hallway, a young man stepped out, looking cold, afraid, and a little roughed up.
"Can you help me?" Scarlette asked in a shaky voice, tears streaming down her face. She was so afraid. How was she ever going to get out
"If I could have gotten out of here, believe me, I would have. As it is however, the door is stuck and I can't move it! I was able to cast a water breathing spell, fortunately, but I can't escape, and I don't now how long the spell will hold!" The young man put his head down for a moment, clueless as what to do. "I'm Jeremiah, by the way..."
Scarlette sighed in defeat. "Hi there. My name is Scarlette, but everyone calls me scar. How long have you been down here? And is there anyone who owns this ship?"
"Anyone who owns the ship? Well, until an hour or two, the captain did. I was travelling with a crew of adventurers when we encountered some really bad weather. I think most of the others were able to get out..." Jeremiah thinks for a moment, before saying "I've been trapped here for maybe an hour, tops. The flooding only got to the brig maybe thirty of fifteen minutes ago..."
"Oh. The ship just sank...." Scarlette was beginning to get hungry. She quickly looked around for something to eat in her cell, but saw nothing. She was sure that she was going to die in here. She began to cry. Very loudly.
Jeremiah stared at her for a few moments, then turned his head away in disgust. To try to distract himself from her crying, he looked over at the hump of debris and wreckage that was once called a door. He'd tried to remove it a bit earlier, but had only succeeded in tiring himself out. "Well, it never hurt to try again," he muttered... He took a few moments to mentally prepare himself, remembering his training from the mage academy. He began to speak, but the sound of his words were drowned out by the rumbling of wreckage as it moved out of his room. Where there was once an assortment of broken planks and scrap metal was only another open space. "Phew. Freedom."
Scarlette heard the loud noise and stopped crying. She looked over at him and saw that the door was open and he was free. "Please! Help me!" She screamed. She grabbed onto the bars of the cell and pulled at them with all of her might. They didn't budge. "Please! I'll do anything to get out!" She said, terrified.
"Jeez Louise miss! Calm down. It shouldn't take too long to open this door..." Jeremiah grabbed the door's handles, and pulled as hard as he could.
With the screech of poorly oiled metal, the cell door opened. "Ha! Silly creature, you didn't try pushing the door earlier?" Jeremiah laughed. "Ah well, let's just get to the surface as fast as possible. I don't know how much longer my magic will last."

Scarlette felt slightly hurt by his use of words, but none the less, she needed to get the human out of there before he drowned. "Here." She said reluctantly, "hop on my back and I'll get you up to the surface very quickly."
"Alright then. Jeremiah hopped onto Scarlette's back, grabbing on to her shoulders in case she went too fast. "Ready when you are."
She took off as fast as she could and in a matter of 5 minutes, they had reached the shore line. Scarlette scooted onto the land and her blue tail had turned into two long human legs.
"I... Wow, that was fast! How did you do that?" Jeremiah thought for a moment before asking: "What... Are you?"
Scarlette chuckled. "Well, if you didn't see my tail down there, I'm a mermaid! And quite a stupid one at that it seems." She smiled at him. He was very sarcastic, but he was also very cute, and she liked that.
"A mermaid, eh? Well, at least you're not trying to kill me, like half of the things I've run into in the past week have been." I'm glad to be out of that prison of a ship. I think I'll try to find my crewmates, see if we can reassemble. Thanks for the help.
"Wait...why were you in the brig?" Scarlette asked, warily
"Hm? Eh... Now that I think of it, it's kind of stupid. When the storm occured, everything was in chaos. The only quite area of the ship was the brig, and I needed a quite place to cast magic. I was trying to think of what spell would help protect an entire ship when the whole mess with the wreck occured, and I got stuck in that cell." Jeremiah responded, looking confused as to why he was being asked.
"I only asked you because I tend to trust way to easily, and I wanted to make sure that I didn't find a criminal attractive..." She smiled
"I see. Anyway, I'm going to go look for my friends. Hopefully they're not far away. I hope they all made it..." He suddenly looks very worried and begins to run off into the forest. "I've got to go!"
