A mysterious girls voice briefly sings out over the air waves "I'm not sure if anyone is listening, but to all survivors. Today marks twenty years to the day since the sky fell. It's been eight years since the Republic's big defeat at Poison Springs. Six years since the oppressive Union claimed total victory. To you survivors out there... don't forget and keep fighting that good fight. Stay safe. Stay free."
Repacking her pack radio and other pieces of equipment, Hazel looks out from her rooftop over the ruins around her. A older apartment building, it was one of the taller building on the outskirts of town. She came here ever few days to broadcast short little messages over the radio. Sometimes it was simple 'keep living' messages, others times she actually got responses and would chat with other survivors. Sometimes these sessions would end with supply trades. More often the not she also would send out warnings about various creature and raider sightings. For the most part it had been quite lately.
Finished putting her things away she shoulders her rifle and begins her climb down to the street. Her real place was farther into the center of town. While on the second story of the building, just as she's about to begin down to the first floor, outside she hears a loud racket. Scooting over to a window, rifle in hand, she peers out to the street below for whatever made the noise

Nico wipes the sweat from his face and continues to drag his way through the remains of a small liquor store. Clothes. Food. Water. He is unimpressed by the liquor store as he finds not even one of those things. "I need something..." Nico says to himself after letting out a distressed groan. As he half-halfheartedly holds himself together and drags himself down each aisle, he picks up every shelf from the floor and searches for anything.
He makes his way down the last aisle and reluctantly lifts the shelf. "Yes!" Nico exclaims excitedly. In the very bottom of the shelf is an extraordinary sight--A box of unopened pop-tarts. Nico smiles wide as he crouches down and snatches the box. Happy that his trip wasn't a complete waste of time, Nico opens the box and unwraps the first pop-tart. As quickly as it happened, the happiness flowed from his face. The pop-tart in his hand is covered in small black bugs, every centimeter already taken. "SHIT!" Nico yells pulling his gun and pointing it at the store window. "GODDAMNIT!" He yells louder, his voice becoming weak. BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!Click click click. The window shatters into seemingly a million pieces and smoke rises up from the end of his gun. One more problem to the list--bullets.

Shouldering her rifle again Hazel silently watches the man across the street for a moment before heading back to the stair case, putting her hair up in a ponytail as she makes her way down. The guy was being loud...way to loud. Loud could be heard a long ways off and attracted a lot of unsavory things. Pulling her hood up and mask on as she slips out the door of her building.
Checking down both sides of the street before she starting across it. Pulling her revolver from her thigh bag Hazel checking that it was loaded. Never could be too careful after all, and her rifle was not suited for fighting inside a building. While normally being as silent as possible when moving around town, she needed to quite down her visitor quickly. The sound of her boots trotting across the dead street and onto the broken glass warned of her arrival before her words did "What are you doing? Do you know how much racket you are making? You'll get you and anyone in this area killed if raiders heard that!" While her voice didn't raise much higher then a loud whisper, her tone gave a good indication of her anger

Nico quickly sheathes his gun and stares at the girl, his face blank as if nothing is going through his mind. "Y-your voice. It sounds...familiar," Nico says--a poor response to the lecture he was taking. "You're the girl from the radio! My brother Damien would always listen to you!" He exclaims, also in a whisper. "Sorry for the, uh, noise," Nico says, his voice awkward since he was never quite the apologetic one. "I've been searching door to door. No food...no water...no bullets," He says, sighing loudly. His eyes then scan the girl head to toe and he smiles almost embarrasingly, "You wouldn't happen to have any water, would you?"
(sorry bout the delay. this weeks is a busy one)
Grimacing beneath her mask Hazel couldn't help but wonder how she always found the odd people. "How have you managed to survive out here being that loud? Bah, it doesn't matter...some are luckier then others I guess. Just...be more mindful?" she'd comment offhandedly as she stepped fully into the store and out of plain sight on the street, her tone softening somewhat.
She gives a questioning look when the boy mentions her broadcast "Yeah...I'm the voice here in Hardersfield. Nice to meet Somebody that listens to me other then traders."
At the request for water Hazel stands quite for a moment, mulling the situation over in her head. Clearly the boy had nothing of value and she normally didn't help out for free. Unfortunately he slightly reminded her of herself nine years ago. Still staring the boy down she nods slowly as she holsters her revolver back in her thigh bag "Door to door? Won't find much that way. This place has been picked clean years ago. It's kind of a crossroads now. But...Yeah. I have a spare bottle." she admits while pulling the bottle from another part of her bag. Tossing it to the boy she flatly ask "So what's your name? And your brother? Where is he at?"

[It's fine, I totally understand )
Nico takes the water and thanks her, "My brother kept me safe. It's been a lot harder to survive out here since he left..." Nico says, taking a swig of the water.
"I'm Nico. Um, Damien..I'm not really sure," Nico says, "Probably dead.," Nico pauses and takes deep breath, "Last I saw him, he was..." He trails off, his voice becoming truly vulnerable. "Anyways," he coughs, "What's your name?"

Hazel either doesn't notice, or ignored, Nico's tone "Sorry to hear it. It's a shame but that's how it is sometimes...and you can call me Fox." Not exactly her name but it was the nickname the locals had given her. They had taken to happily calling her 'little fox' because of her hair color and size. She didn't mind, feeling it was a big compliment.
Down the street several howls are heard. Stepping back onto the street as she glances down in the direction of the howls. With a chuckle she says "It's just the local wolves. Guess they thought I put something down." Still watching down the street she motions at Nico to go across the street, back to her broadcast building "I let them have part of what game I kill. They tolerate me because of that. Not you. They'd eat you. I suggest you stay with me and do Exactly what I as I say...now get over the apartments across the street here and wait in by the staircase."

Nico lays his hand on his gun, then stops as Fox describes the wolf situation. That, and he had no bullets left, anyways. "You feed the food?" Nico asks, almost in shock. What a waste of food! You might as well just eat the damn wolves. Oooh, I bet that's taste real good.
"Fine," Nico says, not questioning her authority. Thanks to Damien, Nico had faith in this girl. He does as she says, staying low and quickly shimmying to the other side of the street, hiding behind the wrecked remains of an old car near the stairs. His position gives him a line of sight from the wolves to the girl. Known her for five minutes and I'm already taking her orders, Nico thinks to himself, chuckling as Fox reminds him of his mother.

Still in the middle of the street Hazel continue to watch the wolves. One in particular, an abnormally large black male, made it's way forward until it sat almost at Hazel's feet. Looking up at her for several moments it then turns it's gaze to Nico, licking it's chops as it does.
Slowly crouching down until her face was level with the wolf's, Hazel holds out her palm in a act of permission while calling over her shoulder "Inside the building Nico. JC's sees you....we'll talk about my feeding them in a moment. Though I think you see why." she then quietly says something to JC before he places a paw on her hand.
She didn't want to explain her relation with the wolves, particularly JC, but now that Nico had seen a interaction she'd have to explain why she was 'feeding the food' as he had put it. She was more then a little upset with him now though. His loudness had just cost her the next full deer she killed.
