Darik Sharpe (played anonymously)

It had been exactly five years since the crop duster plane had crashed into the Cardinals stadium in St. Louis and Nick Kell died along with Nameless, and the others, not to mention Jai died earlier that week. But by now Zombies had destroyed the entirety of the world, hope for a cure was lost and the Savage undead weren't only at large but they were also evolving. There were five types of Savage:
1. Savage- Strong, fast, and vicious, although stupid and unarmed.
2. Vultures- Human savage with wings like that of a bat or demon that could fly!
3. Hell Hounds- Bears, wolves, dogs, even large squirts who morphed into large hunting, fur-less undead monsters!
4. Nestlings- Baby Savage who usually stayed in the best defending it together until the savage returned, they spat acid as their main attack.
5. And lastly Emperor's, these Savage were not only bigger and stronger but they had evolved well enough to command the lesser Savage to do attack together, they could use basic melee weapons, and knew four or five human words such as kill, good, hungry, inside, and up, among other easy words.

There had been a few civilizations set up to keep these beasts away but each thought they were the only one left. One was set up in Russia, the next in DC, and so on and so on. Sam Thorne had been a Hollywood actor from Los Angeles, but was in Germany shooting an action movie when the Savage attacked. Luckily for him he had been in the right city, a small part of Berlin had been fenced off and was now home to nearly a hundred survivors. Sam was working as a scout for the time being since the jobs were, scout, farmer, cook, teacher, or councilers who ran the little civilian safe point.

"I freakin hate morning duty," he said as the sun began to rise, the guard on duty left his position as Sam walked over and sat in a lawn chair atop the wall. The funny thing is that Sam was shooting a film called Thornes of the Undead, a film about a street fighter named Blake Thorne going to Germany to fight zombies. "Stupid Savage..." He said looking at his watch, it was 6:05, "only five hours and fifty five minutes left..." Turning the radio on he went to adjust the volume but turned the channel by accident. "Damnit," he said, but as he was about to turn the channel back he heard a voice. '... Hello... This is Atlas... We have a cure... Come to Washing...." The signal cut out and Sam's eyes were wider then the rising sun.

Switching the channel back, "hey, Al, wake up the council, they need to hear this."
Alkilai grunted each he hit the dirty, worn out punching bag, alternating steadily between punches and kicks. He had woken up at 5 am for morning training, he had always done it that way, and a zombie apocalypse wasn't gonna stop that. Before the world went to hell Alkilai was a professional MMA fighter, he won a few championships, made a name for himself around the world, in fact the only reason he was in Berlin was to accept a challenge from a German fighter. In the end, they didn't even get to finish the first round before the ref turned and attacked his opponent. After that Alkilai got caught up in the initial outbreak and eventually just settled into the community that formed from the ashes of Berlin, these days, training was the only thing that kept him sane.

He gave the bag one last good punch before the light of the rising sun peered through the window of his little shack. He let out a sigh as he grabbed a dirty towel and wiped the sweat of his brow, getting ready for the morning shift at the outer wall. He remembered that he would be paired with "Hollywood" that day, cheeky little bastard, he really didn't feel like hearing his complaining about getting stuck on the morning shift. He eventually made it to his post at the top of the wall, he gazed over at the Wastelands beyond, he heard a few Nestlings scamper through the trash before disappearing into the shadows to avoid the on coming light of the dawn. He sat down at his post next to Sam, rolling his eyes at is complaints.

"Get off it will you, somebody's gotta do it, may as well be us." He said, taking a sip of a bottle of water he had brought along. He listened to the crapy song that played on the radio until Sam accidentally changed it to the makeshift broadcast. "Ah, thank you, that song was getting on my..." He paused when he heard the unbelievable claim made on the station. "What the..." Unfortunately, the signal cut out. "Hey, slow down, don't you think we should get the signal back first, it doesn't matter what we tell the council if we can't prove it." Alkilai asserted, fiddling with the radio to try to get the signal back.

Not realizing Al was near him he was caught off guard, "Jesus Al, come out of no where why don't ya." He fiddled with the radio a bit before he looked back at Al, "go wake the council Jackie Chan, they need to hear about this..." It had been about fifteen years since the world ended and this was the first word of a 'cure' that either of them would have heard so far. This camp was known as Green Wall, and as Sam sent Al away he studied the radio flicking between the two stations that he had changed between accidentally, but nothing. "A cure? Impossible, maybe an immunity?? Could their really be a drug to kill all these guys in one blast... A gas perhaps?" The Green wall was relatively quiet, "if that's the case we could save the world with a crop duster."
Alkilai didn't waste any time, practically leaping off of the wall and rushing to the shack of the head council member. There were seven council members in all, most of them were former politicians, but there were some every-men in there as well, those who could truly understand the plight of the common man. Alkilai finally made it to the shack and burst in, the old man sleeping in the bed in the corner turned a little in his sleep from the sudden noise, but was still completely unconscious.

"Mr. Head Councilmen, wake up, it's an emergency!" Alkilai said as he hastily started shaking him awake. The old german man woke up, reaching for the table next to the bed for his glasses.

"Eh, w-what, what happened, has the wall been breached, is it Savage or Bandits?!" He said frantically.

"Neither sir, the wall is still secure." Alkilai assured.

"Well, then what is the emergency?" The Head Councilman inquired.

"We've intercepted something on the radio, it was in between stations so it was probably another survivor." Alkilai began. "It said something about... a cure."

"...what?" The councilman said incredulously.

"Look, there's no time to explain, you need to call a council meeting right now, please, you just have to trust me!" Alkilai insisted. The Head Councilman pondered what he should do, he wasn't exactly friends with Alkilai, but he trusted him more than that damn American actor.

"Very well, I will call the council to the Center, you better not be wasting our time."
Delilah Pheonix (played by Ambrosia)

"Yo, this way, good run boys!" she said to her team. Delilah led a team of night runners, under the cover of night they had a smaller chance of running into bandits plus the savage found it harder to see fast moving people in the darkness.

She lead her group to the supply store and handed in her findings, it wasn't much but enough for her and her group to get supplies. She made her way to the make shift farms they had. She'd help out there whenever she could, it kept her active. some commotion caught her ear when she spotted Al and Sam run around.

As Sam was messing with the radio the councilmen were all awakened one by one. "Shit I can't find the signal again..." As he said this the signal flashed over the correct channel, 'repeat that's... Ington... C... We are near...' The signal cut out again but not by choice, by means of the batteries dying. "Damn, damn, damn..." Sam hopped off the wall leaving it unguarded he headed to the storage room and looked for batteries, "triple a, triple a, only three double a's left and I need four, this is bull!"

Taking the batteries and leaving three dollars in it's place he headed back outside to see a Vulture Savage where he had been standing, "oh crap," it was early and most people were still asleep so Sam had time, he ran toward the ladder hoping the winged Savage wouldn't rush him. But as he got to the top of the wall he saw something he didn't expect... The Vulture Savage was pulling a normal Savage up onto the wall. "Those freaks are working together?"

Running forward he grabbed his baseball bat that was leaning on his lawn chair and smashed the winged savage in the back of the head throwing him off the wall. The other savage didn't like this very much and lunged at Thorne but with a quick swing downward he smashed that Savage so hard in the head it's skull smooshed, killing it and sending it topling downward. To lay dead next to... Where was the winged Savage?
Finally, the entire council was awake and gathered at the Center, a large makeshift City Hall that used to be a mall. The council was very restless, grumpy about being woken up for something so absurd in their view, however, the Head Councilman hit his gable down, gaining everyone's attention.

"Order, order!" He exclaimed as the other six members began to quiet down. "Now, I apologize for calling such an early meeting, but in light of the situation I've decided it was worth discussing." He explained, some of the other members still seemed skeptical and irritated. "Now, I will turn the podium over to Alkilai here, Alkilai please explain what you have told me." Everyone's attention turned to Alkilai, he walked up to podium and cleared his throat, hopefully he wouldn't make a fool of himself.

"Earlier this morning, the other morning guard and I intercepted a radio broadcast by chance," He began. "Before we lost the signal, we distinctly heard the name "Atlas", and the words "We have a cure...", the rest was lost in static." This seemed to get the councils attention, as they began to mumble amongst themselves. "As soon as we heard this I rushed to gather you all, in hopes you would be able to decide what we should do with this new information." Alkilai concluded, awaiting their reply.

"How do we know this message even truly exists?" One of them asked.

"Well, the other guard is currently trying to tune back into the broadcast, I'm sure he'll come running as soon as has it." Alkilai insisted.

"Well, that's all well and good, but I see no way we can properly discuss this without sufficient evidence that there is even anything to discuss." The council member stated, causing a bit of an uproar in the rest of them. Alkilai's confidence was dropping.

"Come on Hollywood, where are you." He whispered under his breath.

The winged Savage caught Sam by surprise shoving him off the edge of the wall! Sam used all of his strength to flip the Savage towards the ground smashing the undead bird brain into goop. Sam rolled off the body and saw a few Savage lurking in the distance, and he was on the wrong side of the wall. Standing slowly he grabbed his baseball bat, "well damn..." The Savage began to walk forward when one savage at the back called out, Sam had never heard one talk, ever, not in his entire life! And it yelled, No! Nothing too complex just the one word, no. And the savage stopped turning around to face the creature that called out this command, they looked unhappy but they seemed to agree and retreat. "What the hell?" Sam lowered his bat and watched the five or six savage retreat into the wooded area around the Survivors Community. Getting a grip on the situation, Sam cautiously walked around to the other wall and called up to a man named Moss who was on guard. Moss looked confused but lowered a rope ladder and Sam climbed on up, "I'll explain later." He then made his way to the council room which was actually just a nice German restaurant, "sorry I'm late," Sam said soaked in zombie guts.
The entire council was shocked by Sam's appearance, some even standing in horror and disgust.

"By God, is that "Gunk" splattered all over you?" One of the council members asked. Gunk was what people referred to the strange black substance that Savage constantly produced, having replaced the usual saliva or blood.

"You fool, you have put the entire community at risk for infection!" Another cried. The council was in an uproar, some shouting things like, "you've doomed us all" or "kill him, he's probably already infected", however, they all quieted down when the head councilman knocked his gable thrice.

"Calm down everyone, I assure you we have no need for such rash action!" He said. "Remember, the Savage Virus can only be contracted through sufficient consumption of "Gunk" or direct contact with the blood stream, a few dirty clothes will not compromise the wellbeing of this community!" He asserted, managing to calm the rest of the council down. "Now, Sam Thorne, you were the guard that discovered the radio broadcast in question, correct. If you may, will you show us?"

Pulling out the radio Sam wavered between the station, at first he was having a hard time finding it, but after a couple awkward minutes of channel surfing he found it. 'Hello this is Atlasssssshhh.... Repeat we have found a curshhhhhh... Washhhh... D.C. Please travel safe.' The message fizzed for a moment while the community of just over a hundred sat silently, this is when the message began to repeat, 'Hello this is Atlassssshhhhhhh...' Sam shut the Radio off, and looked forward at the council, "there is no way that a signal got all the way here from the States..." The people's soft chattering started up again as Sam explain his limited knowledge on Radio frequencies he learned from a college class seventeen years ago while he was just starting out as a big shot actor. "Maybe this Atlas was able to send the Cia or Fbi across the Atlantic to place a signal amplifier at one of the four main radio hubs in Europe." One was somewhere in Belgium, neitherlands, London, England, and the largest was in Frankfard, Germany. "If I was to put a destination marker on the horizon I would say we head to Frankfard... It's fairly close, closer then freakin D.C. And it is a good place to start, give me Al and another good man at least and we'll find out the origin of the signal," he was a bit too exited, feeling like the hero of his own real life movie that he forgot to bring up the talking Savage he saw.
The Council all spoke among themselves, this was an incredibly shocking development, but while it was tempting, many remained skeptical.

"I don't know why we're even discussing this," One of the council members spoke up. "The boy said it himself, there's no way a radio signal was able to make it here all the way from the United States, and it is highly unlikely that the "FBI" or "CIA" are even still operational, let alone capable to crossing the ocean just to hack one of our radio hubs!" He explained his disbelief in the plan, which seemed to sway many of the other council members.

"Now hold on a second." Another council member said. "Yes this may seem incredibly far fetched, but this is the first we have ever heard of a cure in... well ever, don't you believe it is at least worth looking into?"

"Ridiculous." A third member chimed in. "This whole meeting was pointless, is word of a cure is most likely a some bandit ploy to lure other survivors to them just to rob them blind!" He asserted. "Besides, even if it wasn't, are you seriously expecting us to just send some of our only truly abled bodied citizens out into the Wastelands, if you ask me I would feel much more secure to have them stay here."

"What about the Runners?" A fourth member suggested. "They specifically trained to go out and survive in the Wastelands."

"For incredibly short periods of time!" A fifth member reminded. "The Runners are not meant for long term survival in the Wastelands, any more than four hours out there and they will surely perish. Not only that, but even if whatever team we do send doesn't get devoured, the Savage will still catch their scent and follow it straight back to us, we will be surrounded by those monsters and not have some of our best men to help defend us!"

"So are you suggesting that we just ignore the message all together?" The sixth member interjected. "We are barely surviving as it is, food supplies are running low, the weather is getting more and more unpredictable, and we are loosing many of our citizens to illness! If we do not do something we are just going to waste away in here!"

The Council was split down the middle, three for and three against, the Head Councilman remaining torn on the issue. The discussion quickly erupted into a heated argument, council members screaming into each other's faces, each side accusing the other of wanting to kill them all.

"Order, order!" the Head Councilman cried, slamming his gable on the desk. "This senseless bickering is getting us nowhere! Alkilai, as the one who brought this matter to our attention and one of the candidates for this Expedition, what are your thoughts?" He inquired, the entire Council turning to the man. Alkilai took a moment to think about it, taking in a deep breath before giving his answer.

"I think it's a long shot, a gamble at best... but it beats sitting on that wall all day waiting for the day it comes crashing down." He said with no small degree of certainty.

"...Very well, I happen to agree." The Head Councilmen replied. "This is a rare opportunity and I will be damed if we pass it up, so, if you can find one more man who is brave and or foolish enough to join you, then we will approve this expedition, all in favor say "I"." He stated, the three supporting members raising their voices. "Then it is settled, we will give you 24 hours to find your third member, do not disappoint us, meeting adjourned!" He said with a whack of his gable.

Later that day around noon Sam stood next to Alkalai on a podium trying to get people to join, the problem was, Sam only spoke broken German, and Al spoke even less, while more then half the people here only spoke their native language and didn't understand the speaking unless someone translated. It was a good thing Al spoke English as well as his native Japanese or their 'friendship' would be hard. "The walk to Frankfard would only be about four and a half days, we will take no food supplies so as to collect it on the way, this will be a double mission, we will not only be identifying the signal, but we will also be taging shops along the way with supplies inside and collecting them on the way home!" Most were skeptical of the plan let alone going on the quest themselves. "Be a hero!" Sam gave the crowd his Hollywood Smile. "Come save the world with us!"
Dukonuu (played anonymously)

Duuk was the child of a Turkish woman and a South African Tourist, he had been here for most of his life being that he was only eight or nine when the world fell.

"I'd be up for it!" Both his parents had died in the first feeding but he was now eighteen and despite his grandmothers disapproval, the young man stepped forward.

The boy had a tomahawk as his main weapon, this was a melee weapon but after years of training he learned to throw it with great accuracy!

"Is it just me and you two or are we gonna need another?" Duuk asked the two, they knew him of course, it was a small camp, but not personally.

Duuk was a runner and thought that as the quickest runner among them, he would be a good asset to this team.

"Duuk is at your service!" Duuk was loyal and strong, quick and smart, but he also had a very short temper... Something he hoped wouldn't get in the way of the mission.

I just need to figure out where to start, then I'm in ^^
Alkilai face palmed at Sam's last statement, it made him look like he wasn't even taking it seriously, and he could tell it was off putting to the audience. He was beginning to lose hope when finally, someone stepped forward. Alkilai recognized the volunteer as a Runner, he recalled seeing him at the front of the team every time they came back from exploring the Wastelands, but that was the extent of his familiarity with him. From the way he sounded, he seemed enthusiastic enough, promising to say the least.

"Glad to have you on board, Duuk." Alkilai said, shaking the man's hand. "The council said that we only needed to find one other man for them to approve the expedition, but the more we have the better, I think we should continue searching asking around." He suggested.
