"I don't know what your talking about," Duuk said beginning to walk away from the station. The less Nick knew the better, he seemed like a good guy yet again looks could be deceiving. "Wanna go grab a bite to eat at that twenty four hour diner?" He had missed his train and too much time had passed for him to just go back and make his train on time, may as well wait till the next one came at 5:30am, "can you believe it's almost one in the morning?"
Nick let out a sigh, he understood if Duuk didn't want to talk about his powers, if he even had any to begin with, he knew he wouldn't want to "Yeah why not, my parents are gonna kill me anyway, might as well get my last meal in." He said, dreading what his mother would do to him once he finally got home. "I know right, I'm gonna have to wait till like five in the morning till the buses start running again, I'm telling you once I get home I'm crashing." Nick stated and he and Duuk walked over to the diner.
Isobel paused at the sound of a familiar man's voice. The one that had tripped her earlier. Isobel flared out her wings, slowing down and hovering. She felt the heat from his fireball and instantly had her staff in hand. "Don't yell your lungs out. I may not be able to see but I can hear just fine." She said in a chilled tone.
Isobel clucked to get a better image in her mind of the building before alighting on the edge. "Listen I know I've got wings but I'd prefer you not keep calling me fallen angel." She said, irritated. "As for this breaking of a code against mortals...last time I checked humans were the one who wronged me, not the other way around."
((Well Isobel is kind of a strange case. She snuck out of heaven when she was much younger because she was curious about earth. Not that she remembers any of that. Right now she questions whether or not she even is an angel.))

"Just a quick blood test to see if we can be friends or not," Athens pointed his dagger at the girl. She didn't seem to be a threat but Athens wanted to make sure, "are you an Immortal girl?" The dagger would prove it one way or another but if she was just an Immortal down on her luck he didn't want to punish her for trying to cloth herself... This was a very delicate situation...
Isobel shrugged. "How the hell am I supposed to know..?" Yeah, she doesn't know if she's mortal or not. A blood test? "No. No needles. If you need blood..." She put the staff back on her back and drew her dagger, cutting her palm just enough to draw blood. "Come here and get it." If he had some way of telling whether or not she was immortal, well why not? She was pretty curious about it herself.
"Being able to fly is one power I do not have..." He confessed, "if you are willing it involves no needles, just a touch from my own Dagger..." He had an idea, if she dropped her own blood onto the blade of his knife it would flare and turn to ash, if she was mortal it would just dirty his dagger. But that was only a hypothetical test, he did not know if it would even work. "Come here and prove you are a friend to mortal kind..."
Isobel stepped towards him and paused, blushing a little. "Uh, you'll have to just hold your dagger under my hand." She couldn't see the dagger. She stretched out her hand and squeezed it lightly. Blood was already dripping but now it came out steady. Her grip on the dagger she held tightened as well, in anticipation.
When her blood touched the metal, it did nothing for several seconds and then it started smoking, turning the blood black. It didn't exactly flare or turn to ash though. Isobel tilted her head curiously at the sound. "What does that mean?" She asked, not sure if she wanted to know the answer. Did it have something to do with what the scientists had injected into her blood?

"I don't exactly know," sheathing his dagger he grabbed her hand with his and a warm crackling could be heard. Her hand burned for a moment before feeling soothed. The cut was healed by his Ember Skin ability, "the fact that you were willing makes you not a threat, the fact that you are beautiful makes us friends!" Now that she was no threat Athens could show how exited he was that a beautiful girl like this was Immortal, kissing her hand and getting on one knee Athens smiled. "My candle burns brighter near your enlightened personality, what is your name Fallen beauty? And might I add how rude it was for me to trip such a delicate flower such as yourself!!!"
Heading to the diner it was called Stella's, "best place in downtown!" Walking in he slipped the waitress a black credit card, I'd like to start a tab starting with two plates of your best omelets," sitting down he looked at Nick, "so what is your story Nick?"
((What city are we in?))
((What city are we in?))
((Don't know, Artsy, what city are we in?))
Nick took a sip of the water that the waitress served them before returning his attention to Duuk. "Huh, my story?" He said in surprise. "Mmm, it's nothing really special, middle class family, part time job, do the best I can at school, and not much of a social life at all. And you know what, that's exactly how I like it... normal." Nick asserted before taking another sip of his drink.
"...candle burns brighter near your enlightened personality..." Nick heard, nearly making him spit out his drink.
'Ah man, him again?!' He lamented in his thoughts, recognizing the obnoxious voice of Athens. Of course, just when he was telling Duuk about how normal he was the one thing that placed him firmly in the freak category begins acting up.
"...S-so, yeah, that's pretty much all I can say about me, what about you, from the looks of things your story seems a bit more interesting." He said, trying desperately to drown out Athens' Casanova-esque ramblings.

Isobel couldn't help giggling a bit as her hand healed. "How strange it is to be on the receiving end of healing." She started to draw her hand back but was surprised to feel lips against her skin. Isobel tensed and almost slashed at his face with the dagger in her hand. It was so unexpected.
Isobel actually busted up laughing when he called her delicate. "Are you flirting with me?" It just seemed so ridiculous, right after he'd practically threatened to kill her. "Oh, I'm sorry. You're being serious aren't you? Yeah, you don't have to worry about harming any delicate parts. I'm pretty sure everything delicate about me has already been crushed."

Jumping up Athens nodded, "I bet, nothing hotter then a strong independent woman." This side of Athens was the normal Athens, "immortal duty, last of my kind, pact with my Gods you know how that goes..." Now that the threat was gone business Athens could hit the dusty trail and easy going Athens could flirt away. "How about joining me for dinner? And I never did catch your name..."
"I lived in Africa under the rule of a warlord known as the witch doctor, but when the South African militia came in and freed the child soldiers I was adopted by a rich American family who were working in the South African hospitals..." His story was tragic as is, but he was leaving out the voodoo and scientific magic used on Duuk to give him his odd time powers. "My father is a doctor and my mother is an activist for the hungry in Africa. I was just their own personal charity I guess," he smiled as they finished their food. "There has to be more to you then just 'normal'..." Dukonuu used air quotes to make his point.
Nick was apprehensive, he was prying, as if Nick's answer wasn't the one he wanted to hear. Duuk seemed like a nice guy, and Nick was almost certain he had powers himself, maybe, just maybe, he could confide in him. He let out a defeated sigh.
"Well, I guess normal isn't exactly an appropriate word." He admitted. "Look, there's a reason I was there in that alley, it was mostly coincidence, but... ok, you have to swear on your life not to tell anybody, I'm just an ordinary guy that just so happens to have an extraordinary... talent." He said. He looked around to make sure nobody was paying attention, which wasn't hard, considering they were the only customers there. He concentrated for a moment and tuned back into Atlas' rambling, guiding the sound waves directly to Duuk's ears.
"...about joining me for dinner? And I never did catch your name..." Duuk could hear surprisingly clear.

Duuk looked around, looking for where that broken sentence had come from... "What the hell?" He had odd powers but he hadn't expected someone else to have then, nor someone so easily bumped into on the street! "Echo-Kinesis? You have the power to control sound waves??" This power was a strange one, hypothetically Nick could put people on mute, or amplify their voice with a movement of his wrist. "So you can Fus Ro Dah like the Dragonborn is that one Video Game can't you," Duuk laughed as the waitress brought around two plates of pancakes.
"Uh... that's certainly a creative way to use it." Nick replied, hiding his purple glowing hand from the waitress as she served them their food. "So yeah, I'm not exactly normal, heck I'm not even sure I'm actually human." He admitted. "These powers just sort of showed up, I woke up one morning and I could hear... well, everything, and it all sounded like it was happening right next to my face, I was freaking out." He took a short break from his story to cut off a slice of his pancakes and eat it.
"I've been hiding them ever since, not even my parents know. I've learned to control them pretty well, pretend that they don't even exist, but every once in a while they act up, reminding me." He sighed, he really just wanted to be normal. "So what about you, I know you're hiding something too, spill it and we'll call it even." He said.

"You are a smart one aren't you..." Duuk touched Nicks hand and everything stopped, "I can manipulate the way time works, for example this diner has now stepped out of the flow of time and is frozen solid until I release it from my grasp." Letting go of Nick's hand Duuk vanished, but the door opened and Nick watched Duuk followed by himself walk into Stella's and sit down at the booth they were at. The waitress walked over, Duuk handed her his black credit card and she told them about the omelets. Once time had caught up to reality and had reset Duuk wrapped up the explanation of his abilities. ((See above.)) "Let's say I get shot, and I use my back step ability, I continue bleeding out until I can prevent my past self from getting shot. It's possible to die from a gun shot that I haven't been hit with yet if I go back and try to stop it..."
Isobel raised an eyebrow, completely blown away. "Wow. You're very straightforward, aren't you?" Shelifted her head when he mentioned dinner. "This is more like early morning...besides, I was following Ju-the Silhouette when you threw a fireball at me. So I'm afraid I had plans with her this night...or morning.”
"How about this up coming night?" Athens was very persistent and wouldn't stop until he either got a yes, got a punch to the gut, or found a prettier girl. However loyal he was if she hadn't said yes yet he wasn't tied down, "and you still haven't told me your name Fallen Angel!" Punching upward blue fire created a heart!
Isobel took a step back without meaning to. His personality...was so overwhelming. "Uh, it's Isobel..." She felt the heat off of his fiery heart, but she couldn't see it so she just thought it was another fireball. "And I don't know...about tomorrow night. I mean I don't think I'm busy..." Isobel didn't really have any experience with this sort of thing. She wasn't sure how she was supposed to react.
