Tall Stone is the capital city of Loqwood, of one the last, and definitely the largest dwarven kingdoms in the world. This one was on the boarder between Loqwood and some other kingdom, not like it really mattered though, the boarder was a giant mountain range. The largest mountain of which was named Tall Stone and the capital was built into, but how was this the single most wealthy city in the world? The mines under the city gave out coal and diamonds like it is nobodies business, but before the Gem diggers could get in there to mine the Blast miners went in and cleared the way digging down into the abyss under the city.
No one would ever be a blast miner if they didn't have to, but all the criminals in the city were sent down their five days out of the week to work. And that's where we find our "Heros"... Thatch had been a pirate but was arrested and taken here, split up from his crew. He had been working in the mines for four or five years now and was sick of it, with over ten escape attempts under his belt he was one of the most hated prisoners in the mine to the guards at least. He was pretty bossy towards the other prisoners as well but he would always show the new guys what to do and if there was ever an accident or something bad happened he would always take the blame for it so he had earned the respect of the other prisoners in the Under.
On this day however the Blasting crew had set a charge and detonated it same as always... But this time a single stone slab did not move, a dwarf approached it, "Lad stop!" The dwarf stopped and turned not understanding why Thatch had said this, "can't you see it, the markings on the top of that stone?... It coffins a great evil..." Somehow Thatch knew that this was no bearbat or terraroach, whatever was inside this was something not of this world. No Pickax or Shovel could kill what was inside, but the dwarf still approached, a newbie in the mine trying to prove that he was big shit. But a shovel blocked the young criminals way...

Saffron had been in the prison for less than a day. She was the only elf there, and felt not even the slightest bit of discomfort. She had been quite rudely thrown in jail after insulting the dwarf queen's nose, and had absolutely no regrets, until Saffron learned she had to become a miner, and began hurling insults at the guards. She was led kicking and screaming down into the mine, while prisoners around her stared at the unusual sight before them.
Once down in the mine, Saffron quickly became used to her surroundings but remained quiet, deeming it smarter to listen than to talk. She noted one dwarf in particular that seemed to be in charge, and reminded herself to get on his good side. She then began to watch the guards, seeing who was most skilled with their weapons, and who couldn't hit a barn door with theirs. The girl smirked and turned back to her work.

Turning Thatch noticed something more odd then the stone, "ignore the stone, get back to work men!" And they did as he requested, and went back to work giving the elf weird looks. "Never seen woman down here, let alone an elf... This is a Dwarven prison how did you find yourself down here Quickfoot?"
Saffron turned to look at the dwarf who had spoken. "Quickfoot? This isn't the seventh century." She said, inspecting her nails. "And I think you should mind your own business." She said airily, turning away from the dwarf. "If you'll excuse, I'll be getting back to my work."
Work? What would was she doing?? "Listen hear Quickfoot, this is my domain down here..." He looked around, this woman, she could be the key the key to their escape! "Quickfoot, I'm so sorry, you get back to what you were doing!" Thatch smiled showing off his teeth, some missing and some gold! "I think you and I will be friends, or at least very good business partners... Let me know when your ready to bust out of the Under and start a real life of harmless crime."
Saffron burst out laughing. "Oh, that's sweet." She managed to control herself a little. "Partners? Not in your lifetime!" She started laughing again. "And harmless crime? I'm only in here because I insulted your precious dwarf queen's nose! I don't need your help to escape this bucket!" She turned away, still giggling a little, and sat on the rock, occasionally inspecting her nails, and watching everyone else.
Thatch grunted at her remark, this was the first person to disrespect him openly, even the guards respected him somewhat. "Fine, Quickfooted freak..." And with that Thatch got back to work ordering the others around.
Saffron jumped up suddenly. She approached the dwarf, and tapped his shoulder. "What was that?" She asked, smiling sweetly. "Because I think I just heard you call me a Quickfooted freak."
"So what if I did elf?" Thatch said, standing his ground. He glanced at the ancient magic stone they uncovered. Possibly a wraith or other minor evil lay within, maybe a disputed with this Quick foot would bring the guards down and then opening the stone would create enough of a diversion for Thatch and a few other dwarves could make their escape! "You are a freak, that's why you were thrown down here you disrespectful elephant!"
Saffron continued the cheerful smile. "And why were you thrown down here?" She paused to think. "I think they thought you were too ugly to live above ground." Saffron made a face. "I bet you made people sick just when they GLANCED at you." She smirked, hopping around from rock to rock. She twirled around a spike of rock and stuck her tongue out. "What?" She asked. "Too SHORT to catch me?"
The fact that she was bringing up his appearance was childish and he was quite unamused by it, but if this was to start a real riot he had to 'be offended by it.' Using the pick axe in his hand he jammed it into the Rock causing it to break apart throwing the elf woman down on the cave floor, "now who's short you Elven harlot?" He chuckled, "I HEAR YOUR DOWN HERE FOR SELLING LOVE TO A FEW TOO MANY ROYAL DWAVES!" He was lying to piss her off and whether that was working or not was one thing, the guards attention was another and that was seeming to work. Dwarven guards above began piling onto a lift and started lowering themselves downward slowly.
Saffron winked and kissed him on the nose. "If you want some too you can just ask." The irrepressable elf said. She stood up to her full height. "Wow, you really are quite small." She looked off into the distance. "Hmm, maybe if I side with you I'll have a chance of getting out of here." She shook her head. "Nah, you're still too ugly."
Standing at almost four foot the height jokes weren't getting any more funny, "I would like some of yer offering, but I'd hate to pay more then yer worth!" He kicked a clump of coal her way as if insinuating she was worth a dirty ol' rock. The guards above had reached the bottom level and as the stepped out of the gear lift Thatch slammed his pick into the sacred stone... Releasing what was inside!!! The Ghost of Wabaroq the first Dwarven King of Tall Stone!

Saffron stared coolly at the beast. "Looks like your mom." She said to Thatch, before jumping along the side of the wall and onto the elevator, she swung herself inside and closed the doors. She waved cheerfully to everyone else as she rose the lift up, making a face at Thatch as she rose. "Later, short stuff!" Saffron called down.
As the guards began attacking the Dwarven wraith, Thatch signaled to his brotherin that the elevator was theirs for the taking, but as Quickfoots do, the woman got there first and closed the doors! "Damn you Quickfoot!" He watched as the elevator began to raise, and he did what a normal rogue would do... "I'll be back for you guys," he lied as he jumped up wedging his pick axe in the door. He used this leverage to grab onto some metal and as the gear lift reached the top floor he had managed to climb on top.
Jumping down in front of the elf he took off running towards the main door controls to open the loading gate to the outside. "I can either run through the crowded city to escape or just open this back loading gate and get away into the Cliff Pine forest..." The choice was clear, throwing the switch he blocked a Dwarven sword and made for the door! Sliding under the exit he was free at last, "eleventh times the charm!"

Saff smirked. "Eleven times? Aren't you even the slightest bit embarrassed that an elf who'd been here for a total of 45 minutes escaped before you?" She waited for the doors to open and walked out casually. Saffron continued walking towards the tallest building she could find, then climbed to the very top with the natural skill of someone who had been climbing their whole life. Once on the roof, she could see a forest fairly close to her but still at a distance. Backing up to the very edge, she took a running start and jumped off the other side, launching herself towards the forest. "LATER LOSERS!" She yelled, snickering.
Thatch was startled by the elf behind him as the gate slammed shut. "The only reason you got out was because of the Wraith Stone that I FOUND!" He had lost a lot of good friends by ditching his brotherin but it was her fault. "You know you still got the collar on your ankle..." The Dwarves put ankle collars on all the new prisoners so that they can make sure that they won't escape. They do the same thing to people who try to break out, but Thatch had his collar removed last week. The collars are rigged with explosives and if you try to take it off your leg will explode, if it gets too much damage, your leg will explode, and on top of that it has a strong magnetic signature that the Dwarven authorities can track with special compasses. "I would have waited at least a month before I would have broken out if I was you, now they will be on your trail for years to come..." Thatch laughed, "well enjoy that elf, or take it off and lose a leg."
Back in the mine the Guard Chief looked at the Quickfoots compass, 'she headed out the back gate and is heading east, if Thatch is with her we may be able to get them both back in the mine before sun up...' Gripping the elves key in his hand he took a deep breathe, 'or it is my head the Queen will want...'
Outside the City again, Thatch was walking east as well, "at the next Valley, the path splits south and east, I'm going whichever way your NOT." Thatch knew that either she would blow her leg off or get caught, and he was not gonna be around for either. "Enjoy your short lived freedom Quickfoot, I'm off to find a well paying job! Hopefully dealing with stealing something," still holding his pick axe he planned to replace it with a sword or two at the next town but for now he believed this as a weapon would be extremely helpful.

Saffron crashed into the boughs of a pine tree, tumbling down to the forest floor. "Going out with a bang is painful." She grumbled, rising to her feet. She eyed the beeping device on her leg and smirked, the perfect plan forming in her mind. Losing a leg was not a big deal for her, most of her elf brethren had healing powers she could ask them for help. Fortunately for the sake of Saffron's right leg, her plan was much for needlessly complicated and extravagant. It pays to know an inside guy. She thought. Especially one who is a mechanic. Saffron sprinted off into the trees, in the direction of her homeland.
The amount of energy is took to sprint over charged the device and it sent an electrical pulse through her body. A secondary emergency tactical installment to keep people from running away, "I know a guy who can take that off safely, but I don't think I'll tell ya!" He chuckled stepping over her and continuing down the path.
Saffron rolled her eyes and ignored the pain. "Son of a bitch!" She yelled at Thatch, getting up from the ground and continuing down the path. "Quickly," she muttered. "gotta set the traps..." She sang quietly, walking briskly down the path.
