For the most part, Nirix felt as if she had arrived back on Earth VI.

The Perrygold was abuzz with life, the many different kinds of passengers, forming a dull murmur that occasionally caused her sensitive ears to twitch at random intervals. Once again, Nirix tried to ignore the odd looks the others gave her as she entered the common room with Ketin in tow. Because of her race once again, people loved to stare. Were they really that exotic? Nirix knew that her people tended to stay within their planetary system but her people were not that rare. In fact, an extremely popular Pop Star Singer was Eoclu, Evuniala.

Regardless, the attention was soon drawn off of her appearance and towards the strange music that would not seem to turn off. It played on for what seemed like hours, and more and more, did the passengers seemed to grow aggravated. Nirix had found it...strange nonetheless, but said nothing yet apparently her Da'len found it rather amusing.

Ah. It was he who caused it.

Shaking her head in a disapproving manner, Nirix was pleased when the mischief that Ketin had caused came to an end and joined him when he went to their shared cabin. There, much like Kete, she removed her bomber jacket and shifted her blade so that it was strapped to her hip than her back. Plopping on her cot, she reached into her pocket before producing a small envelope. Fidgeting with it in hesitation, the Eoclu strengthened her resolve before clearing her throat to speak.

"Erm, Dal'en. This is for you, I figured you could use it on our trip," Nirix slid him the envelope with great care as if worried it would suddenly explode and kill them all.
"It's money but you could obviously tell that. It should be enough to purchase a few things for yourself if you spend it correctly, meaning don't spend it all on this mead I hear you speak so highly of," Nirix smiled sheepishly, hoping that she didn't appear too big sisterly.

She couldn't make him heed her advice but she did wish he would try. Hopefully, this was a start.
After dispatching that damn Neko nusance, the Conscript cracked his own neck as he turned his attention towards Rin. Rin was able to a slash on him which made him go down on one knee, but still had his shield up to protect himself from incoming slashes as his upper body and possible lower body.

He then grumbled and began to swing the flail around him to keep Rin at bay as he looks at him, his breathing becoming more and more rapid as he continues to swing the flail around to force Rin at a distance.
Rin (played by KhaeosMage)

Rin glanced at Montagne. He...

He wasn't moving. At all.

He-

No. He ducked his head, squeezing his eyes shut as he forced the wetness in his eyes back. Focus. He needed to focus-

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT, BASTARD?!" he shouted in rage, emotions rapidly bursting like a dam. His vision turned red, his blood thrummed under his skin-

He charged with a fierce snarl, ducking and twisting in instinctive maneuvers, hand daggers blazing, skates like lightning on the floors of the mall. Only one thought was in his mind-

Survive-
The Conscript didn't say a word as he kept track of Rin as he moved around. Using the momentum of the swinging flail over his head and seeing where Rin was about to go, he Conscript lunges at Rin to (American)football tackle him to the ground. If he missed his back was exposed for retaliation, but if he got Rin, he would be on top of the much weaker male, but not instinctly pummel him, but would subdue his arms however.
Rin (played by KhaeosMage)

Rin flinched to the side, not expecting the tackle.

"£&€¥!-" He landed heavily on his back. No-

He was instantly pinned down, arms splayed to the sides. He couldn't move-

Stupid. He felt the tears prickling his eyes. He'd gotten too used to Commander Wyr watching his back, to Vaxur firing at the distance. He was going to die.

He was going to die a million lightyears away from home and he never even told them-

That he...

He...

He squeezed his eyes shut, a tear making its way down his cheek. "Just- kill me already, bastard-" he choked out.
The conscript merely looks down at Rin and begins to raise his shield. The conscript didn't say a word but obviously he was gonna use the shield rim to pummel Rin's face in. As he raised the shield and was about to go down to make full contact a *BING!* could be heard.

The sound was loud and innocent but one could tell it had power and recoil to it. Then zoom of a large bullet made contact with the Conscripts shoulder forcing him down and having the shields rim smash really close to Rin's face. The Conscript looks over his shoulder in who shot him and then another *BING!* and the bullet went through his head fast and hard generating a spray of blood from the back of his head as the rest body was propelled forward from the force of the impact collapsing on top of the Rin, dead.

In the distance, Laurent without his hat and his notable white tip cat ears peeking up was laying on the ground with a vintage WWII Elephant gun, giving his signature grin at Rin and giving him a friendly wave once Rin got up.
Rin (played by KhaeosMage)

Rin couldn't stop himself from gaping in utter disbelief. What the- "You're alive?" he said, void of any tone, shock emanating from every word.

... Oh. This guy was heavy. He was suffocating.

"Crap- a little help, ah, please-" he gasped, trying to push the dead body off of him to no avail.
Laurent gets up and puts the massive rifle down and goes to pull the dead man off of Rin and with his cheery smile he says "Yup, I'm back from the dead!" As he laughs as he puts his hand out to help him up. It's definitely Laurent if Rin had any doubts he didn't have his hat and his signature grin was on his face as well as his mannerisms towards Rin. "I guess he's going to have a big headache !" As he laughs at his own little joke like it nothing even happen.
Rin (played by KhaeosMage)

Rin absently took the hand held out to help him, but as soon as he was on his feet-

He growled in bewilderment, clutching the front of Montagne's shirt, and pulling down. "How?!" he demanded, shaking him a little. "And what the £&€¥," he added.
Laurent still smiling at him and says "Because I'm a spade ninja and I know the ancient technique of performing the shadow clone jujutsu!" As he puts his hand in the air and glides it across like the sun in the sky as he was being dramatic. He took a pause to let it sink in and he giggles a little and uses his own strength to force Rin on his feet and says "I'm just kidding, come over here and I'll show you" as he gestures for him to follow.

He goes to where is hat is but no body and picks up metal orb of some kind with little lights on it. "Observe!" He states dramatically as he presses a few buttons and it hovers in mid air and soon a projection of Laurent himself can be seen. Both Laurents look at each other and smile at the same time. They both shook hands and even played a little party cake and then they both paid attention to Rin and one says assumingly the real one "Well I survived by using a very advance hologram that is basically almost the same as the person it projects" as they both slap hands. "I got this little device from a Lord name Kampfer and it was a bet that I won" he explains as he uses air quotations for the word "won"

"I do have a few more with me that really do come in handy at times" he says as he pulls out three more of the metal orb devices as the projected Laurent vanished and the device went onto the rest. "It's as realistic as one can get, the only difference is that you can't see blood since there since it can't project that though" he adds as he picks up his hat and wears it. "Plus it can't really depict my hat properly so when I use more than one I usually take my hat off in that case" he adds as he goes to pick up the large rifle.
Rin (played by KhaeosMage)

Rin blinked rapidly, then shut his mouth with a sharp 'clack.'

"... Oh," he said, faint. His hands twitched, and his skates finally deactivated. "That's... Uh..." He gave up, scowling. How he reacted when he thought the dumb idiot had actually died- embarrassing! Grr- "Can we go now?!" he snapped, no real heat in his tone.
Ketin Clarke (played anonymously) Topic Starter

The Perrygold

Ketin was slightly distracted – but then, for someone who’s awareness of his surroundings was virtually omniscient, he always seemed to be surprised whenever anyone spoke to him. Here in this peaceful place, where at last there was only gentle sound and the assurance of a safe trip and a new destination – had he let his guard down? No – it was almost impossible for Ketin to let his guard down. Keeping it up, if in the background, was pure instinct by now. Yet still, he was only half aware of Nirix’s fidgeting, her apparent discomfort that bordered on – what, timid? And the implications of this would take another moment still to register.

There was half a second pause between her holding out the envelope and him looking at it – not anything to trigger a red flag, but enough to imply that he was thinking about something in particuar.

His ears perked up and he looked to the envelope, then to Nirix, who would doubtless be left squirming in her uncertainto for a few seconds, which would, of course, feel like much longer.

An ear flicked curiously. Was he really so absent minded? He did not reach for the envelope. He just looked at it, and grinned. Then, taking on a slight M’Draani accent he intoned, recalling the old quotation by heart but having no idea where it had come from, ” And what will I do with the big, big money? Have I not everything I need? If I need a motor car, I pluck it from the trees. If I need ‘pretty polly’, I take it~”

He was refusing? It seemed that way. Was he that stupid? He had already proven himself to be none-too-bright a number of times. Once or twice had shown a complete inability to make rational decisions. What was he saying – he didn’t need it because he could simply steal it? And despite the typically playful manner in which he worded his refusal, it was definitely genuine. He didn’t want it.

However, when eyes flicked back to Nirix’s face, it occurred to him that he might be acting atad insensitive – because, for an empath, he could be shockingly oblivious to the subtle emotions of others, even as they bubbled up from his own mind. Yes – Nirix was acting downright sheepish, he realized – and hefound himself startled by this. What was she squirming and being almost shy over? He didn’t have to ‘look’, since it was right at the forefront of her mind – beingan active, present emotion with clearly implied thought snippets. Why was she so embarassed over acting the part of big sister? Well, she was an assassin – whether Kete admitted this to himself or not. Assassins were cold and heartless – his presence, and this natural charm he seemed to emanate – this was compromising that. There was a flash of doubt – He was compromising that. It was a brief reminder of how his presence in the lives of those he cared for was destructive at best and, therefore, doomed. But he let it pass. That was the future, and this was now.
So, a second after quipping his little quote, the grin melted into a broad, warm smile. An earnest shimmer in his eyes that was at once both appreciative and caring. He took the envelope, seeming to focus on her for that moment. Indeed, there was a power to his fixed gaze, when he allowed all the many other things occupying his mind and extrasensory inputs to fall to the back of his mind, and for one moment focus all his attention on a single person. It was as if all the engagement in other mental processes could be redirected and gathered, and focused. Yes, Ketin was absent minded – but it only made his moments of deep clarity that much more significant. Undivided attention.

Though still, it was only a broad, warm smile and an earnest pair of mismatched eyes.

”Thanks, Ny’.” He said, ”I’ll be sure to put it to good use and not blow it all on booze." He definitely seemed to mean what he was saying.

Of course, the money was all but worthless to him. After all, even when facing hard times to to the lack of it, at least it was something to do. If he got hungry and couldn't afford food, he would go about finding another way to eat - and time spent trying to survive was time not spent brooding over regrets an cyclic self-loathing.

No, the cash in itself was of no real importance to Kete, And, surprisingly, neither was the gesture of being given the money - yet still he had gone out of his way to show such genuine appreciation. Kete was a good actor, often all but infallable, but there was something about the look that had suggested a deeper truth than even the best acting. A simple gesture to get her out of the awkward position she felt she had put herself in? No - what meant so much to Kete was, oddly, the way Nirix had offered it to him. The uncertainty in her voice, the fidgeting hesitation, the sheepish smile. That was what moved him. It was not terribly uncommon for people to offer him money, or other favors or supplies. Sometimes in companiable friendliness, sometimes in pity. To be given something meant that someone else cared enough to give. To be given something in the manner which Nirix had offered that envelope meant they really cared. It was the fact that is accepting the money would give Nirix some degree of peace of mind.

It meant a lot to him - that was blatantl obvious - even if the precise reason might have been slightly different from what one might assume.

Leaning over to slip the envelope into the innermost pocket of his coat - surely it would be safe there, right next to his old silver flask - his ears perked again with a small bang from the cabin next to theirs. It was followed by a curse - which reminded Kete that he had been dimly ware of a whole series of curses and obscenities over the course of their first few minutes there.

"Somebody's having a bad day~" he commented idly - and then, found himself with the sudden and insurmountable urge to be just a little bit of an ass. The wide, devious grin and narrowed eyes were a good tip-off.

"Y'know, I'm not some kind of charity case~" Was he teasing?

And all the while...
He had not forgotten about Éva. In the tranquility of this pleasant place, there was little reason for the mind to be constricted. There were many questions - and ssome little part of the back of Kete's mind was still musing over them, if subconsciously.

If he focused all his attention on Nirix, would Éva be somehow blinded? Or would she simpy become slightly more acute in the parts of his mind he wasn't focusing with?

He was reasonably certain that she saw what he saw. This included, he assumed, both his regular sight, and anything he happened to consciously subconsciously look through via the Devil's Eye.While only he could command the eye, everything it processed would still become available to Éva. This likely included the emotions and thoughts of others, since they were processed and converted to compatible data just as vision was. Maybe it would be strange for Éva to find this influx of foreign sights and emotions, which were so casually sorted into the ''Not-Mine' category thanks to centuries of subconscious practice that made it as natural to Ketin as breathing.

How were they influencing each other? It seemed to Ketin that she was influencing him more than the reverse. He had caught his sense of identity not slipping away, but minutely shifting. He had felt what she had so long ago, and she felt wind on his skin and much of his thoughts and emotions were open to her - aanything he wasn't repressing. Could they share those? Would it be better to keep them separate? Was there some vague, nebulous danger of the two identities merging into one? Could she somehow take control of his body? And who's body was it really, anyway? She seemed to think it was his, and she was just a visitor - but to Kete, she felt too integrated a part of himself to think of it as anything but a shared host.

Sort of.

What would happen to Éva when he - they - slept? WOuld both consciousnesses have to sleep simultaneously? Would one be left awake and paralyzed? Or maybe if Kete were to sleep, Éva would take primary control of the body? Would he then be stuck inside himself with no way to control what he was doing? A disturbing thought, but Ketin was not at all concerned that anything along those nightmarsh lines would happen. For all the things he could not yet determine about this part of him called Éva he was wholly satisfied that she would not do him any harm, even if she could - the idea that Éva would even want with anything resembling malice was an utter impossibility in his mind.

All subconscious, background processes, the cumulation and soorting of thoughts to be called forth at some later point.

A whole world of thoughts moving about, parallel to the realm of conscious thought, hidden from itself even while ever-present, the background workings which allowed the conscious to function.
The Guinevere (played by Apprenticedmage)

"So it isn't working, huh?"

"No, and I can't work on anything else." Alice said, throwing her fist into the wall. "This is why we need our OWN ship. I could work on things there without worrying about bugging other people."

"You're probably already bugging our neighbours, Alice. Just relax for a bit." Wick said in an attempt to calm her down. His sister sighed in growing frustration, something which didn't surprise Him. If there was something Alice was quick to catch, then it was cabin fever.

"Can't I just work on my baton? Its almost done and it won't blow up, I swear!" she pleaded, giving Wick her best puppy dog eyes.

Wick sighed, feeling too tired to argue. "Fine. Just don't blow a hole in the ship, okay? Otherwise you're fixing it. Deal?"

"Deal." Alice agreed, stretching out her hand. Wick took it in his own and the two shook hands, as was their way of legitimizing an agreement. She took to her work immediately, replacing the wrist communicator with the length of painted black metal.
Wick had bought the weapon for her not too long ago, only about two weeks time, and it quickly became her pet project. It looked new the way she had polished and repaired parts of it, though she still had yet to finish the internal parts of it which gave the black length of metal an electric charge. Working diligently, Alice had already begun to disassemble the weapon and scan over the wires within.

"Well, if you're gonna be working this whole trip, I should probably let our neighbours know." Wick said, moving towards the door.

"Okay." Alice said, not really paying attention to him at this point. She usually got this way when working and Wick didn't try to interfere anymore. it was what she loved to do, after all, and he had encouraged his sister thus far.

Stepping out of the room, Wick walked to the door of room 76 and knocked. He could just barely hear conversation on the other side, though not enough to eavesdrop. As he waited for someone to answer it, he wondered just what kind of people they were rooming beside.
Nirix couldn't stop the frown that formed on her face. This had not been what she was expecting and even though Ketin had ultimately accepted her offer of money, she could tell that he hadn't initially wanted anything to do with it.

She hadn't been trying to upset him. No, it was the exact opposite, in fact.

"Ir ableas Da'len, if I have offended you in anyway then I ask that you forgive me," Nirix tried instantly to explain her actions. "I know you are not some charity case or a poor cause that I only may feel pity for. The money was not gifted to you in that regard, I was simply giving it to you...to you..."

The words seemed to flee from her tongue and once again in her lifetime, did the Eoclu wish that the ways of words and conversation would simply flow out of her instead of staying locked up in her jumbled thoughts. Why had she given Ketin the money again? The obvious answer was so that he could physically have some and possibly not raise suspicion by stealing. She could've also argued that the money was for emergencies, in case he ever got separated from her and had to flee without her. But that would have been not true and Nirix knew there was more than that to her reasonings. Ketin was someone Nirix could let her guard down when she was around him, someone who she actually managed to care about.

The money was simply there because words were too hard for her to express and doing so was so infuriatingly awkward. If only conversation and feelings came as easy to her as the art of death. Nirix knew at least 200 ways to kill a person but could fumble at the simplest of common things.

Maybe she was hopeless after all....

"I am sorry," She settled on saying before letting out a huge sigh that no doubt expressed how much tension she was feeling. There was no way Ketin found her of sound mind now, she would probably always be looked at as insane.

Nirix was glad for the knock at the door. If anything, the person behind the door could end her suffering.
Ketin Clarke (played anonymously) Topic Starter

Ketin did manage to get a very little bit of amusement out of the way she flustered - but it was almost instantly replaced with a wash of guilt. No, that had not been a very nice thing to do to his friend. The grin stiffened after a second, reflecting this realization. Then, reliably as could be, it softened back into the warm smile from before - with a sharp twang of guilt on his face.

He leaned over and gave Nirix a light, harmless swat on the shoulder. "You apologize too much." he said. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to actually offend me? You probably couldn't do it if you tried You'd have to...Pull on my tail and kick me out of the cabin or something." It was a very reassuring tone of voice, coupled with a very reassuring smile.

"And I know you weren't really thinking of me as a charity case, because-" Because what? Because he could read her mind and knew most of what she was thinking at all times? She did know that now - but he still didn't like to acknowledge it. There wasn't even a stutter. He just reached into the pocket of his jeans, digging momentarily until producing a little green single-credit coin. "When people give me stuff out of pity they usually do it like this." He flicked the coin at Nirix, and if she was too flustered for her ninja reflexes to kick in and capture it mid-flight then it would clonk her lightly on the head, landing silently in her lap. It might have been difficult to tell if he was joking about that or not - after all, people could be jerks - and it was always a chore trying to figure out if Ketin was joking or not.

One thing was probably very certain however - that he was looking at her without a trace of judgement. How could he, of all people ever determine someone else to be unsound of mind? Though, even though he may have been expressing that understanding on his face, people weren't always in the position to recognize it. There was only so much anyone could do.

That heaving sigh he didn't like - it was bad enough to be partly experiencing her tension and stress as mirrored copies in the back of his own mind - he didn't like to see her upset like that.

"Do you get this stressed out every time you do something nice for someone~?" he said, again with a gently, affectionately teasing tone.

She may or may not have replied, but the knock on the door would distract Kete before he could say anything else. Ears perked, he looked over to it. He was already acutely aware of who was on the other side - obviously he was intending to...tell them something? Or maybe just say 'hi'?

Kete looked back to Nirix, then back to the door. He would leave it up to her to answer it - primarily because it would give her something to do that wasn't just sitting in a tensed-up ball of social anxiety and poor communication skills. He just peered over the side of his cot, looking curiously and smiling a friendly smile at whoever was on the other side.
Rya Valheimer (played by A11_Th3_S4m3)

She almost laughed. Scratch that. She did. Loudly. She’d forgotten how good it felt to laugh. But this was not the sort of laugh that Drakis would be used to. Not the amused, casual chuckle.

This one was disturbed, terrified. Absolutely.. -- Insane. Something had snapped, she felt it. A soft click of a distant bullet in place, setting things into motion. It had all happened so suddenly. Losing grip on reality had been as easy as breathing.

Her home -- gone.
Her mind -- torn asunder.
Her uniform, her reputation, her livelihood, her parents, her comrades. Her entire life.

All lost, blown away in the solar winds like they’d been absolutely nothing. The laughing started up again as she realized, it was actually kinda funny, in a tragic sort of way. As she recovered, she pushed herself to her feet.

“Yeah, I’ll come,” she tittered, wiping the tears from her eyes. “I need to send a pinger to Aelyn, though. Gimme a second.”

{Hey, buddy!} The first message was happy, borderline psychotic. The robotic, formal tone was long gone. {I was just wondering -- do you hear voices, too? 'Cause I'm starting to think I'm goin' a bit off the rails, ya know?}

She smiled widely at Drakis, feeling better than she'd ever felt before, despite the crippling doubt. "Let's go."
Laurent smiles softy and says "Yes, we can go" as he then gives the large rifle to Rin and says "Take the motorbike and the rifle back to the ship and make sure the ship is running" he then turns towards the dead Conscript and adds "I need to get a few things before the security forces are finally released...someone trapped them and it won't be long till they are set free to see what has happen" as he gives Rin another sly grin.

Laurent went ahead pulls a crowbar and walks towards the body and begins to peel the armor off the Conscript using the crowbar.
Rin (played by KhaeosMage)

Rin furrowed his eyebrows, resolutely restraining himself from asking what Montagne was doing. "Right," he sighed, grunting a little as he strapped the heavy rifle against his back with his belt. He swung a leg over the motorbike and kicked it to life, speeding his way to the ship.

As soon as he arrived he made his way towards the front of the ship at a fast pace, looking over the controls before nodding to himself and sitting heavily on the floor. He banged his hand on the floor once, a huff of frustration escaping him.

He just couldn't believe how bad he got. He'd fought alone for most of his life- and suddenly, after gaining a team, he was letting down his guard so easily?

He shook his head. It was good that he learned to trust others to watch his back- they became more coordinated, a deadlier force that way- but he was alone now. He had to either train even harder, to learn to fight alone again-

Or.

Or he'd have to initiate training sessions with Montagne.

He groaned. That was not going to go well. At all.

But if he was going to survive...

... Well.

He sighed again, resigned. As soon as the idiot got back, he would have to bring that up...
Laurent came soon running towards the ship, he was carrying bags of stuff as well as the armor pieces of the dead Conscript. The face was giving one is fear as he glances back and see's the incoming squad of riot security, all dressed in black riot gear and having long batons chasing Laurent down. He keeps inaudible yelling at the ship and waving at it, hoping to get Rin's attention.

Thank goodness for Laurent's long legs as he finally makes it up onto the ramp. He immediatley presses the button to close the bulkhead door and then clicked on the speaker and says "Alright Rin, launch her please!" as he gave little chuckle at the end hearing the riot security banging on the door. Plus Laurent was quiet exicted for the outfits that he got for Rin to wear...even though stolen
Rin (played by KhaeosMage)

Rin jolted a little, then scrambled to his feet, quickly taking reign of the controls. "Roger that," he replied into the speaker out of habit, launching the ship to the sky and out of the atmosphere.

As soon as they were a good distance away, he switched it into autopilot and got out, coming across the sight of Montagne and bags that definitely weren't with him before.

"What's that?" he queried, face blank, eyes gleaming with ill-contained curiosity.
