Not even sure if this is possible, but it would be really cool if you could plug in a birth date for your characters and have it auto update the age every year like it does on a user page. I age my characters in real time, and I'm always forgetting to go in and change all the ages once a year.
Yes please! My characters' ages are all off due to this, and the best I can do is guess-timate at this point. This would be so awesome! If it's even possible, that is.
I concur, this would be awesome. My Characters age in real time (well my modern fantasy ones especially) This would be a very nice feature to have.
I'm fourthing this idea, because I love posting character birthdays and aging them real-time too, but I have suuuuch a hard time keeping track of them all!

But you should be able to hide 'em like user profile b-days, too, in case there's a character whose age you're keeping obscure/secret. <g>

Edit: Or if not hidden, maybe it can have a "Choose not to reveal" input or somethin'. Whatever would be easiest!
Yeah, I fifth this idea! I normally just keep their birth date, no age, on their profiles. This would be really fun though.
Yes yes please!!!

I'd love this! Seems easy enough to include "age" as a vital stat much like name and gender are. It can even help with search functionality for finding characters of specific ages (including for things such as adult RPs).

If it's implemented, can the real-time aging be toggled per character? I have some who this would apply to, and some who don't age real time, so it'd be neat to adjust it per character. :)

Support.
I would love this feature! Support!
I would definitely use a feature like this; love the idea!

This is a really adorable idea. There's also the possibility to have a small "happy birthday, ___!" notification that appears in your feed! Or maybe also in the feeds of players that follow that character?
Yes Please!

I also 1+ this!

Out of curiosity - what about non-modern characters?

This sounds super cool, but it'd be also super difficult to implement, right? I mean, like Kim said, what about non-modern characters? Or characters with an extended lifespan, or ghosts, or vampires? Or fantasy characters in another world? Or futuristic characters? I think the only way to implement this would be to have the ability to toogle it for modern characters, like Sanne said.
By non-modern, I assume we mean a character that isn't currently following the 2015 year? It's the year 1513/1573/1237/2064/3253, &c in it's setting?

Maybe you could change the date like you can in journals, assuming you're still running your character's age by real-time means (and if not, again, change and adjust the date/age like you can in journals?) And extended-age characters shouldn't be an issue. Unless Kim would plan to put in a cap, and if she did, I'm sure she'd accommodate characters with longevity, since they're so common!

What if you can set the 'duration' of a year manually?

Ergo, if my character lives on a planet where the year is 400 days long, I can set that as the amount of days to complete a year, with the current age listed and the birthdate/birthyear. Is that at all feasible?

OMG no don't make me do this.

I was thinking on just doing some simple math. Even in my fantasy setting I run the 365 days a year calendar just so I can keep track of how old my characters are. For a character that was really long lived, you'd just have to go back and figure out what year they were 'born' in. For characters for sci fi(ie the future), there would have to be some way to plug in dates that haven't happened yet XD

Also I thought it would be something you didn't have to fill in, and could be in the 'basics' area so you could toggle it off. That way you didn't have to use it if you didn't want to.
