This happened to me long ago when I actively used hotmail. I just suddenly stopped receiving emails informing of new messages etc... so I switched to my google email and its been fine for years... now its doing it again. At first I thought I hit spam accidentally.... but thats not the case... Does anyone who uses gmail have this happen or tell me how to fix it? I switched my email to hotmail and it told me that I got a new message-- perfect except I do not use hotmail anymore... only gmail. So i switched it back and nothing... I even tried to mark RPR as important ... anyways, I hope someone can help me.
You might need to report it as a bug, but something here might help you?

Thanks loki, in response to the first link you sent me, I have tested this and received over 7 new messages in the past 2 hours and have gotten no notifications. HOWEVER it did tell me when you replied to my topic... weird.
I think it's set in 15 minute windows, so if you see it before that 15 minutes is up, it won't send you an email
Ohhh... okay. That makes sense... I'll test that out when I go to bed and we'll see if I get some new emails when I wake up.
I haven't messed with it myself, but I think you can change the time interval in your settings
Yeah its set to 15 minutes which is what I want (I'd have it sooner, but you know. Kim has reasons for it not to do that and thats how it is) Thanks Loki
You can change it to sooner if you want 15 minutes is just the 'generic' setting!
The other wrinkle here is that gmail has three different "inboxes". I've noticed that sometimes it puts RPR emails into the "social" tab, and occasionally into the other one. I think it's called promotions? So technically it isn't going into spam, but it's also annoyingly not obvious. Maybe it's in there?

Ah see-- My gmail is different because its through my university. I dont have those separate tabs that everyone else has. I just have inbox, spam, and trash and any other labels that I personally create. (its hard to explain. our school and google had a deal or something)
I've noticed that gmail can also lag behind sometimes. An email is sent to me at 5:00pm for example, but it doesn't show up in my inbox until 5:10 regularly.
Hmm well I received messages over the night with no signs of an email
You say your Gmail is run through your University? It could be they're blocking it on their end (especially since your notifications work when you switch to Hotmail). Is there any way you can get in touch with them about this?

I would say this could be a possibility, but I am still receiving emails when you all reply to this topic immediately, in my main inbox, while private messages are still nowhere to be found. It's quite baffling
Oh! I'm sorry, I thought you weren't getting any emails whatsoever. You're absolutely certain you didn't read any of the PMs you received for at least 15 minutes or more?
Also, even if you get some emails, there could be an additional filter the university's email system uses that is blocking part of the traffic (sometimes it goes by as little as specific phrases in emails). It's worth checking with them either way.

Hey Reeno, can you PM me some links to conversations you're sure you should have gotten a notification for? I want to look up some ID numbers to test with.

Yep I am sure I didn't check them because I was asleep I received a few last night between midnight and 5am and I checked at 10am this morning and no emails alerting me. I found some more categories in my inbox and still can't find them. I will see if I can get in contact with my school but I am not sure they will help me since I am an alumni but who knows.

Thank you! I'll poke around and see if I can find anything.
