What happens when you delete a message in pm?

It's hidden from your inbox. Other people in the conversation may still have their own copies, however, and if they add a new response to the conversation, it will be un-hidden for you.

When you delete PMs, you remove the entire thread from your inbox (so you can't delete individual messages in big PMs). The thread remains in the inbox of all other recipients in that message until they too remove it though, it just doesn't show up in yours. If someone responds to the thread you deleted, it will show up again in your inbox with the new message(s).
