Nick was stunned, if he could believe his eyes before, he sure as hell couldn't now. Between the actual death of one of the criminals, Julia's monstrous transformation, and Eloise's clear display of true pyrokinesis, he felt like he was in the middle of a god damn comic book storyline. He felt sick to his stomach, the very idea of taking part in this whole situation made him feel like he was about to up chuck, sure his plan worked and none of the civilians were harmed, but he still assisted in taking a man's life, does this mean he was an accessory to murder?

His heart skipped a beat when he heard the sound of sirens approaching, someone probably heard the gunshots on the streets and called 911. Nick was nervous at first, but took a moment to calm down, there was no way they could prove he took any part in this, from anyone else's point of view he was just another bystander, so he was probably safe. The same couldn't be said about the other three wannabe crime fighters, if they didn't leave soon, they'd have some serious explaining to do.

He left first, out the top hatch. And like that, he was gone.

Julia pinned her criminal down with her knees, and looked over at the fiery vigilante. She was disappointed by the unnecessary violence- superheroes never hurt more than they had to. And she unfortunately had to hurt this one.

Her ears began to pick up the faint sound if sirens apporaching, and she let out a few choice swears. She'd wanted to find out more about the- smugglers? Robbers? Criminals. But if there was one thing comics had taught her, it was that police hated vigilante heroes.

She knocked out her captive with a quick blow to the head, and reverted to her normal form- save, of course, for the eyes. Those she turned dark brown, almost black. As she started to thank the fire girl, she noticed a familiar face- the man who had been following the vigilante was on the bus. He had to know something. She walked over to him, smiled, and began bluffing. "Hi, my name's Blackbird. I know you had something to do with this. You want to come easy, or should I go monster again?"

"What, n-no, I had nothing to do with..." Nick tried to defend himself, but cut himself off when he heard the sirens coming closer, thankful that they were still a few blocks away. This was bad, he knew this "Blackbird" girl wasn't going to leave him alone, and if the police saw them talking they definitely would bring him in for questioning. His only option was to comply.

"...Ok, ok, fine, let's just get out of here before the cops show." Nick whispered, hoping nobody heard. He quickly made it over the emergency exit on one of the windows and slid through, getting up from the ground and just began running, Blackbird presumably on his tail. He ran a full two blocks before he ducked into an alley, he figured he was far enough for the cops not to come looking for them and took a moment to catch his breath. Just when he was calming down, he remembered Blackbird was with him in the alleyway, he turned to her and began to speak.

"Alright, listen, I swear I had nothing to do with that hijacking, I-I was just as surprised as you were when the guy pulled out that gun!" He defended himself, hoping that she would believe him... wait, why did she suspect him in the first place?

Blackbird followed him through the alleys, and took a moment to recover her breath. Transforming, fighting and then running in quick succession had taken it out of her. She straightened up, and was disappointed to find the stranger had several inches of height on her. Regardless, she was in the power position now, and she'd read enough to know that she had to use it. Even if it required a lot of false bravado. "I've got a few questions then. Why were you following the vigilante? Why did you run from the cops?" She stretched herself up to his height, the sound of her bones creaking audible. "What do you know?"

Nick was slightly intimidated by her sudden increase in height, and he couldn't help but feel a little jealous of her control of her powers. "Followed him?" Nick said quizzically. "I wasn't following him, I was going to the bus stop any way and he just happened to be going the same direction, though now I'm wishing I had just sprung for a cab." Nick explained. "As for the cops, I didn't exactly want them seeing me talking to the vigilante that just helped take down those thugs... n-not that I don't appreciate that, it's just..." Nick paused for a moment, trying to find the words to explain.

"...I just don't want to be involved in this anymore than I have to, that's all there is to it really." He insisted. He wondered whether or not he should mention his powers, after all she was clearly in the same boat, as far as he could tell, maybe she could help him. However, if she was convinced by his explanation and let him go after this, he saw no reason to tell her, after all, he was trying to go for "normal bystander" here.

Julia folded her arms, putting on an annoyed expression. "Look. I wasn't born yesterday. I saw you watching the vigilante pretty closely, so you must know something." Somethig occurred to her suddenly, and she smiled. "Next question for the perfectly normal bystander. How did you know where the cops were coming from? You led us pretty accurately away from the sirens."

"Huh, uh, w-well..." Nick stuttered, he wanted to just keep denying everything, but at this point all that would do was get Blackbird mad. After a moment more of thought he let out a defeated sigh. "Ok, fine, you win, I'm not exactly... normal." He admitted with great apprehension. "It's kind of hard to explain, so... I guess I better just show you." Nick looked around them, checking for any eavesdroppers, and once he was sure they were hidden, he raised his hand and concentrated, his hand flashing with purple light. The light then extended to cover the immediate area, and within their little bubble they could hear... nothing, the loud and obnoxious noises of the big city were completely mute, not even light breeze could be heard.

"Audiokinesis, the ability to mentally control sound." Nick began. "Right now I'm blocking out a majority of the sound waves, we can't hear anything outside the bubble, and nobody can hear anything inside the bubble." He then released his power, making the bubble disappear and the sounds around the audible again. "It's not just muting things either, I can increase the volume of sounds too, like say, make the sound of police sirens three blocks down sound like their right up next to me, that's how I was able to tell where the cops were." He explained. "As for the vigilante, well, I don't really know for sure myself, but it sounded like he had some mechanical parts inside of him, hell at this point I wouldn't be surprised if he were some sort of cyborg. It was really strange, so it caught my attention, that's it, I swear!" Nick insisted, hoping this would be enough to convince her.

(I'm kind of just waiting until I'm needed again. So if I don't post for a bit, that's why.)

Julia's face lit up at the revelation. More superpowered people! She had thought there was just the one on the bus, the fire one, and herself, but this was four! Enough to start a whole team! This could be amazing! She lost her concentration, and her height snapped back to ordinary. Unfortunately, her eyes followed suit, flashing to a slowly shifting mercury-silver. "That is so useful! That explains why the gun didn't make a noise!" She started pacing, thinking. "So we've got a cyborg, eh? And a fire girl, though the Lord only knows where they could be by now." SHe looked at the boy. "You have a name? Real or alias, either one works. I can find your files just by face anyway."

Dawson had ended up right near the two, due to some random luck. Of course, he couldn't hear them; that was a given. But he could watch. And that he did.

Nick was very taken aback by the strange color of Blackbird's eyes, at first he thought she was trying to intimidate him further, but her ecstatic demeanor told him that this was probably their natural state and she had been disguising them the whole time. He was even more surprised when she asked for his name, he was incredibly against giving out any of his personal information and seriously considered just giving her an alias, but her claim made him throw caution to the wind, at least in this respect.

"Uh, my name is Nick, Nick Kell." He introduced himself. "W-what about you?"

Julia smiled. She'd wanted to say this for a while now. "I have many names I go by. Call me Blackbird." She looked around, listening for the police sirens. "So, Nick, I've got a hotel room a few blocks down. Why don't we talk there? There's a good chance I'll get shot again if we keep hanging out in alleyways, and I want to talk business."

"Business?" Nick said quizzically, what possible business could she still have with him. 'I don't know, I really need to get home, my mom is probably worried sick by now.' He thought to himself, he was incredibly late by now, but considering he had no idea what the bus schedules were like besides the bus he usual took, the only other option was to get a cab, and he didn't exactly have the cash on hand to swing it. He sighed in defeat.

"Fine, just wait a second." Nick said before pulling out his cell phone and dialing a number. It rang twice before the person on the other end picked up. "Hey Mom, listen, I'm gonna be a little late coming home, the bus... had a flat so it's running a little late... yeah I'm fine, I just have to wait for the next bus, that's all... Ok... yes I'll be careful... love you too, bye." Nick hung up and returned his attention to Blackbird. "You have a little over half an hour, after that I gotta figure out how the hell I'm going to get home."

Julia frowned. A half-hour would have to be enough. "Alright, we'll take a cab then." She turned abruptly out of the alleyway, hailing a cab. "C'mon, Nick, let's go. I have so much I need to talk to you about."

Nick let out a sigh, he really didn't want to go with this girl, but she was giving him little choice, and his social awkwardness didn't help either. He entered the cab and just looked out the window as they road through the city, it was a relatively short ride, a little disappointing for Nick, he actually somewhat enjoyed the comfortable feeling of riding in a car, but I digress.

Reluctantly, he followed. "Excuse me." he said, after a moment. It was a rather deep voice. Fitting the body it came from.

As she recognized the vigilante from earlier, Julia's face lit up, and immediately dropped into a poker face. "Oh. You." She held his gaze for a moment, then gestured for him to enter. "C'mon, you're a part of this meeting too. I'll introduce myself inside." She paid the taxi driver and entered the hotel. It wasn't a particularly nice hotel, but it was where she lived for now.

She brought the two up to her room, unlocked the door, and gestured them in. The room clearly hadn't seen a maid in a while- it was clean enough, but papers were strewn all over, and a bizarre variety of clothes were laying over the backs of all the furniture. Jazz music was playing out of an MP3 in the corner. "Sorry about the mess. I don't get many guests." She cleared some marked up maps off one of the desks, and leaned up against it, a grin on her lips and metal in her eyes. "Now, I'm sure you're both wondering why I've brought you here today."

"Not really, no. Basically, you want us to bond over this and become a superhero group. Am I correct?" he asked, calmly. It was really the only thing he could come up with. After how she acted and all, it was obvious.
