Jenna looked around platform 9 3/4 for any sign of her best friend. Jenna lived at Hogwarts year-round, many of the teachers live there as well and since her father was a teacher she lived there as well. There were a few years after the war where they lived in a small room rented from a family friend. Once Hogwarts was repaired, however, they got to move back. But Jenna liked to ride the train to London to meet her friend, Freya.

Freya was running a bit late. She had a tendency to forget things, and her grandmother had been pesky about her not leaving anything behind this year. She had almost walked out the door without her Pygmy Puff, Rolf.
When she finally arrived at Platform 9 and 3/4, she found her best friend Jenna looking around. Most likely it was for her.
"Jenna!" Freya called as she ran down the platform, pulling her trunk behind her.

Jenna's face lit up as she heard her friends voice. "I'm glad you made it, I was worried you would be late and you wouldn't be able to et on the platform. Did your grandmother come with you?" Jenna like Freda's grandmother, not having one herself she liked her company.

"Yeah, but we were running late, so she told me to go on ahead and find you." Freya turned around, in search of the person in question, "There she is! Gran! Over here!"
Freya grinned and waved as she beckoned her grandmother. She may be up there in age, but you wouldn't guess by how she acts or looked.
"I see you found Jenna. Good thing we made it on time, how are you dear?" Freya's gran asked as she approached.

Jenna chuckled to herself, Gran had called her 'Deer' "I'm doing great Gran. I can't believe we're 4th years this year!" Jenna hopped in place, her short curls bouncing with her. Jenna's hair always look tousled like she just ran through the woods, which she may have been doing.

Gran smiled, "The two of you are growing up quickly." The smile may have been on her face, but her tone seemed more somber than that.
Freya answered, "Yes, but not any quicker than necessary." As she finished her sentence, Freya's facial features went from old to young, settling at her natural age, "I can be any age you want!"
Freya giggled and hugged her gran, then turned to Jenna, suddenly serious, "We'd better board before they leave without us..."

Jenna ran onto the train, Freya followed, as the train started to pull away from the platform they waved to Gran. "I can't wait till classes start. Lets go find Masaomi," She led her friend through the train to find their last friend somewhere on the train.

Masaomi sat in an empty compartment as she had every year until that point. Ever since first year when her now friends had found her sitting there alone. The only other occupant was her pet, a Ryuukyuu Scops owl she called Yasura. She was small, but strong and had never failed her. Her father's family, being magical had bought her the owl as a gift when she had first been accepted into Hogwarts. Some of her family had even come to see her off. Half of them overjoyed at her magical ability, the other half wishing that she would return to Japan to school in magic there. But England had been her home, and she had no wish to leave.
She sat there reading, a few idle arithmancy charts lying about. Masaomi had volunteered to help expand the school's curriculum on ancient Chinese and Japanese magic traditions. Her own family had hailed from a long line of Chinese wizards who came to japan and mingled with wizards of the Shinto tradition. As such, Ancient Runes and Arithmancy were two of her favorite subjects. Divination as well, she found that she had a genuine knack for it.

She sighed, closing her book, they were late, the train would depart any minute. She turned her head towards the door, waiting expectantly.

Freya hurriedly followed Jenna down the slightly cramped corridor that ran along the various compartments. Even though Jenna had already past them, Freya peeked into each compartment as they passed, her head turning back and forth between her friend and the windows. Many faces she recognized, and she even knew many names, but she doubted any of them knew her. She had guessed that many of the names and faces she didn't know belonged to first years. She had just turned her head into probably her fiftieth window when she noticed a face she couldn't misplace.
"Jen! She's in this one!" Freya knew Jenna was rushed and probably a bit scatterbrained at the moment. After all, it was Freya's fault that they were running so late, so she couldn't really blame her.
As Freya opened the compartment door she smiled and greeted her friend in a slightly joking way, "Glad to see you made it on time Masaomi."
Freya swung one of her luggage bags in the compartment above their heads as she waited for Jenna, continuing to speak with Masaomi, "How was your break?"

Masaomi smirked slightly and closed her book. "You know that I'm always on time." She replied without any real conviction. "My break was great. I went back to Miyakojima to see my grandmother this year. She's still lively as ever at 102." She paused, wondering if Jenna would take that moment to burst in or not. "She still wants me to finish my Miko training, but uncle wants me to continue the Onmyouji arts that Grandpa taught him...same as always. I don't see why I just can't do both." She held up the book in her hands. "But he gave me this, an Onmyoudo text Gret-great-grandpa complied. I think that Professor Babbling will surely find it fascinating." She shook her head. "What about you? I'm sure your vacation was more objectively exciting."

"Mine wasn't. I spent a lot of time in the forest. I did make friends with some of the centaurs, they don't all think Profesor Firenze is wrong. They just want to be independent of wizards and it's hard, especially with their lands being restricted by the ministry. Since the war they have more right but... I don't know. I think the new minister has a hard time trusting anyone. You-know-who really scared everyone." Jenna sighed. The war was seven years ago but it still effects everything.

"On a lighter note," Freya began as she sat opposite of Masaomi, "Gran and I spent the holiday looking for a new house. She said she wanted to live closer to the school, but Squib rights aren't really anyone's top priority, so it's been a challenge."
Freya's Pygmy Puff, Rolf, had scuttled out from in her hair, making himself known on the edge of her shoulder, she absent-mindedly pet him as she continued, "I'm hoping to hear word about it in the next few months, fingers crossed, but besides that, I've just been studying. No wonder I'm Ravenclaw..." the last part was mostly said to herself as her thoughts began to wander. As they often did.

"You aren't the only one. Dad has me studying all the time. I may enjoy some of it but..." Jenna looked out the window, wistfully thinking of the woods, "I often escaped into the forest. If Dad knew that was where I went I would be grounded for the rest of my life. But its the best place. And no one bothers a deer. Well that's not completely true, but I'm careful." She leaned against Hiru, "oh!" as Jenna remembered something she sat up, "And I found out what kind of deer I am! I'm a Chital or Axis Deer, that's why I still have spots. They keep their spots their whole life. I think its great!" It had been bothering Jenna for ages that they couldn't figure out her species, who would guess that at a prestigious school such as Hogwarts, no one could identify species of deer.

Masaomi nodded a bit solemnly. The War having not reached as far east as her family quite often caused her to forget that lasting extent of damage that persisted in the magical world. "I'd always wondered about centaurs really. Only having met one I haven't been able to form a very cohesive opinion." Due to her proficiency in Divination she had sought out Firenze with help in order to learn more about different methods besides her family's practices and even Trelawney's.
She then turned to Freya and smiled. "Glad to know that I'm not the only one who takes to studying over breaks..."

Camila headed down the corridor, looking for somewhere to sit. She was a transfer from America, and knew absolutely no one. She saw one that wasn't full and opened the door. "Do you mind if I sit with you guys? Everywhere else is filled up." She smiled politely, hoping they wouldn't be as rude as the last group.

"Yeah, you can sit with us if you want. My name is Jenna, this is Hiru and Freya. I haven't seen you before, are you a first year?" The girl seemed a little old to be a first year but it was easiest to ask. Jenna liked the idea of having a younger student as a friend anyway, they could show her the ways of Hogwarts, and the ways around the rules of Hogwarts. Or whatever else is needed.

Freya popped out of her mind-fog as she heard someone enter.
"Ooh. New face! New face! Pretty!" Freya had a tendency to act a bit loopy, if not plain childish when her mind gets into foggy areas. Her hair brightened and her cheeks turned innocently red. She kicked her legs back and forth out, lightly hitting the seat beneath her.
"I'm the Freya one. You?" she asked as politely as she could muster, trying not to sound like a complete fool, but being unable to help it. She had always been awkward around new people.

"My name's Camila. I'm an American transfer. I'm a third year, in your terms, but I've been doing magic for seven." She grinned. She definitely thought that this was going to be an interesting year. "School starts earlier in America than it does here."

Analia Heartley was currently walking through the corridor with determined steps. She checked all the sitting-areas, until she came to Freya, Masaomi, Camila and Jenna's place. She opened the door completely and leaned in slightly. Her crystalblue eyes searched the room. Her ivory-black hair fell softly and wavy down her shoulders, enhancing her pale skin. "Hi there. I'm awfully sorry to bother you, but a girl named Cassandra seems to have lost her pygmy-puff. It's purple and I believe it's called Loki. Have you seen it?" Right after she said this, a beautiful Egyptian Mau appeared, purring and stroked Analia's legs affectionately. She looked down, and took it up in her arms, petting it, while patiently waiting for an answer.

Airyn tripped, dumping her books on the ground and crashing into the girl with the cat. As they picked themself up, their hair went a brilliant shade of bubblegum pink, the shade that matched their embarrassment. They picked up their books, shoving them into Airyn's tattered bookbag. With a distinct Irish accent and a slight stutter, they ran their fingers nervously through their hair and said to the girl, "Hello, I-I'm Airyn, I'm having t-trouble finding my owl, would one of you mind helping me find it?"
