Shield (played anonymously)

I've noticed several things when browsing around the RP groups section. Most of the bigger groups which I'ed like to join, have specific character rules, which make my characters, even my most flexible one null and void to join. (specifics such as no humans/half humans, no elves, dwarves, no characters from other worlds, etc etc etc. I'ed rather make characters based off a fictional world, to let them be more unique, but apparently you can't do that if you want to join the majority of the big RP groups.) Which I find is rather... weird in terms. Rather than let us create our own characters with our leisure and their own backstories and let our creativity flow, but box us in to a preset world that we have to create our characters off of. I don't find that... too fun. And due to all these restrictions for me and my characters, I feel a bit alone since I can't join these groups, which I would love to if they had not so many restriction on my characters, essentially isolating me to the looking for RP forums. (and even there, I don't find a good number of RP's which suits my type of character freedom.) I understand it's their group and they can do whatever they want with it. But, doing so isolates people like me.

This is not a complaint or argument, but rather something people should just be aware of when they're thinking of putting restrictions on their RP's and/or groups.
I hear you, but some people like to control what is in an RP because they don't want to deal with things they don't like, or think shouldn't be ok, but there is nothing that can be done
Essentially what Arkavious said. However, I think I know of atleast a handful of groups you might like.

http://www.rprepository.com/g/roleplaykingdoms In this group you make you're own kingdom with its own rules, races, etc. atleast from my understanding.
http://www.rprepository.com/g/furryguild This group isn't particularly active, and is primarily focused on furries, but it would allow for TONS of user control of the character
http://www.rprepository.com/g/BeyondHuman This group has a general super hero theme to it, but you can put just about ANYTHING into it that you want, and I personally know the creator of the group.
http://www.rprepository.com/group/group.php?gID=1348 This group is kinda skidding the line, but it's world is still in the works, so you're free to suggest ideas for people, locations, races, etc. to the creator, so long as they have atleast a medieval theme.
http://www.rprepository.com/g/shadywood This group is also kinda on the line, but for the most part allows for almost anything fantasy related, and the creator of the group is really cool and helpful too
http://www.rprepository.com/g/DrawingRoleplay If you like drawing, this would be an awesome group, as there is no specific setting to it, just go nuts. Again, this is primarily a drawing based group though.

Thanks, hopefully others can find use in this forum as well.

From my observations, Shadywood is infact... DED. 'Nuff said.
Unfortunately yeah :/ But hey, thought linking to it might be helpful.
You could always make your own group if you are feeling upto it, I had a couple but I was unhappy with the lay outs because I screwed up so I deleted them lol
Oh, I have a bit similar thing. Or it touches the same area?
I'm still working on a group [here's how the progress is going so far] but I kinda sorta have a problem with the species thing.

I don't want to limit people, and I allow all sorts of creatures and beings. No species is superior over the other and they don't have/get any special skills or anything. But.... I can't draw humans... So basicly, I draw my characters like
this

The group is then probably going to have a very 'furry overflow' feel to it, and I technicly don't want that because I know some get very bad vibes for it and I want people to be able to have the freedom to chooce what they want to be.
And I don't think that I can Fully just go and call 'all of my characters are humans, because at times I like to RP as the anthropomorphic thingies so........
