Alex retreats further back into the closet. She sets both hands over her mouth to stifle a gasp, at the sight of the firearm. She had rarely seen them, living in a gated community, and the martial arts she had been taking, were far more for exercise, than actual combat. Especially against firearms. She would reach around in the closet for some sort of heavy object - a bat, perhaps - Yet she would not find it here. There was nothing to defend her.
The cat stares up at the girl, the voice speaking to her again, "Control. You are born in fire. You've seen what you can do. You need only channel it - Focus - Try - I will save you should you fail."
A flash of light, very vague it was, falls across the cat's eyes; this briefly changes its color from red, to yellow, then back again.

Born in fire? What kind of sense did that make? Cicely was completely sure she wasn't 'born in a fire'. She might've been taking this to literally but, still. Although she has heard of some people being born with the ability to manipulate a element, but she couldn't of been one of them, she couldn't be. She was just a normal human being, right?
"W-what do you mean?" She asked, fear still clinging on to her quiet whisper.

The man with the rifle slowly approaches the door, hand resting on the handle. As he begins to pull the handle, he protrudes the firearm through the small opening in the door. His breathing can be heard, in the otherwise silent room.
Alex clings her hands around her mouth, trying her damnedest to remain quiet, even though he would surely see then.
The voice says gently, "You feel it. You feel it at every bonfire - every cookout - you know something is amiss. You are fire. It is within your command - you need only hold back your fears."
The cat moves in front of the girls, standing in front of the door.

The cat- or voice or whatever; Cicely didn't care what it was at the moment- had to be crazy. There was absolutely no possible way that Cicely was that special. She couldn't believe it. And now Alex and herself were going to die.
But... what if? What if Cicely could control fire? Or do anything in general? She could actually do something. They wouldn't die here! ...But, in all truth, she was still terrified, so even if she could do something it wouldn't really work out.
All she had to do was control her fear, right? That was much harder than it sounded and that rifle definitely wasn't helping.

The door is slowly pried open by the gunman, a red light in his glasses flashing every so often, something that would be missed in sufficient lighting. Slowly, he raises the gun into the room.
"No?" the voice says aloud, "Very well. We'll see about another time."
It was then the 'cat' would rise, and in a flash transform into the shape of a man! A solid black silhouette in a human shape, around six feet tall. The shadow would grab the barrel of the gun - Somehow, this seems off. Shouldn't he be intangible? No? He pushes the barrel up into the ceiling, several shots fire into the ceiling, sending debris everywhere.

It wasn't really clear what scared Cicely more, the fact that the 'cat' was now a 'man' or that the gun was now being fired. She backed up to Alex and slightly turned to her. "Do you think we can run past him while he's distracted?" She asked, voice trembling. They had to get out or they would die, that much was clear.
The gun is quickly yanked, from the hands of the attacker. The very same gun is turned against him, and fired into his chest thrice. He is wearing a Kevlar vest, thus, the firearm doesn't immediately kill him, it merely knocks him on his backside, winded and bruised. The Shadow's aura engulfs the firearm, and it melds into a new shape. That of a large, revolver - teo, in fact. They appear to be part of the Shadow's body, an extension of the hand, rather than a separate firearm.
The sound of footsteps is imminent up the stairway. There were more coming, quickly.
The voice, now more clearly coming from the shadow-man, speaks again, "They're after you. Your blood. It's different. They know, they've tried before. You've defended yourself before.. You just don't always realize it. It can be done again."
He vanishes in a whisp, through the door itself, to appear elsewhere.
