Boris would have chuckled heartily at Ivan's response to the location of civilized land. It was good to see someone in such high spirits, especially given what occurred the day prior. He continued his trek down the slope of the mountainous trail, Chauncey lingering a few steps behind.
The hamlet ahead was a hair bigger than the one before, with a wall around. Much like the other, it is built with the idea of deterring animals from entering, rather than stopping some sort of militant force. The people here are ignorant to the happenings, a few miles away. In front of the gate lies two volunteer guards, armored in thickened leather, with makeshift spears, and hunting bows. This place was certainly not outfitted to stand off against raiders of any size, merely the bare minimum to hold off a handful of roving bandits.
"They need to be warned.." Boris muttered aloud.
