Lucia had gotten the freshly baked bread adn was biting into it. He glanced around a bit, then swallowed.

"You know... Maybe I'm off, but I'm not getting that creeped out feeling like you are. I sense ghosts but... Not malicious intent..."

Her eyes widened, "G-ghosts?" she asked, her voice shaking slightly. "What do you mean you sense ghosts?" she demanded, looking around.

lucia winced at the slip, scratching the back of his neck a little.

"well kinda... Not like a Shaman or Druid, but I can kinda sense spirits." he shrugged. "One of my index of talents i guess."

She didn't even care that he had blown a secret, she was more worried about the word 'ghost' or 'spirit'. She shuddered, hugging herself "I'm leaving I don't want to be here!" she said, backing up towards the door.

The door slammed behind her on it's own.

She shrieked, jumping away from the door. "I-I just want to go home!" she cried out, she crouched down and covered her ears, rocking slightly. "I just want to go home" she repeated.

Strong arms hugged her from behind. lucia rocked with her, whispering to calm down and it would be alright.

"It's ok... I want to go home too. Come on, I'll get us out of here."

With surprising grace, he picked the girl up, and for some reason the door rattled until it fell off it's hinges. He carried ehr out of the house, and headed for the edge of town.

She shook in his arms, her eyes squeezed tightly shut. She felt like a foolish child, but it was a crippling fear. She knew it was irrational to be scared of something you've never seen, which made her feel even more foolish.

"I understand if you don't want to..." He started, finding one of the few nearby trees and stting her down by it. "But you can talk to me, if you want to.."

She took in a few deep breaths, calming down some more. "Talk about what?" she asked, looking to the side. She brought her knees to her chest, hugging them.

"You're scared for a reason... and... well I'd like to know why."

She looked at him, pushing her mouth to the side "I don't know why.." she said, looking down. She really didn't know why they scared her, it bothered her for some reason it made her body act weird.

he sat next to her, his hand resting on her knee. "well, what are you feeling?"

She frowned, letting out a sigh "I get this chill that goes down my spine, and then this fluttering sensation in my chest..it cripples me almost and I panic. I don't frighten easily...but spirits just cause my whole body to shut down." she frowned more.

He nodded and patted her knee. "well, if it helps, I've got a traumatic past that makes me scared to death of doctors. I can't even get to a healer without shaking."

Lucia leaned against the tree and sighed.

"We still have that slab to figure out..."

She sat quietly for a moment, "Well in a town full of dead people, life would be us. Because we are living...so what if one of us stood on the slab or something.." she thought for a moment more, "Or it might be a blood sacrifice sort of thing, blood is the symbol of life." she looked at him and then unwrapped her hand.

"I..have to go back." she said, taking in a deep breath. She stood up and took in a few more deep breaths. "Okay, I can do this."

Lucia stood as well. "Look, don't rush yourself. You've already been injured, and you don't want to lose more blood if you don't have to... Maybe if we investigate the town a little? And I know you're hungry."

"I'd rather just go in, finish this and leave." she said, rubbing her arm. The wound on my hand is fresh enough to supply blood, so no one has to spill any." She shrugged, "So lets just go in and get out." she took in a deep breath and started walking back into the town.

Lucia nodded, understanding. he followed her back into the house, where the slab was on the floor.

She moved quickly, hopping down to the slab. She tried to remain focused, but now she was hearing whispers, and she looked into the darkness under the house and saw faces. She started to panic, swallowing hard, her injured hand near the slab.
