Alright, so I'm in the process of making a new charecter named Rosalie. She has nothing on her profile yet, but here's why: I don't know her race.
'Well, Cass, if you don't know their race how am I supposed to?' Alright, alright, I get it. I know it sounds dumb. But Rosalie is a Human with hawk wings. No, not angel wings, just bird wings. She developed them through genetic mutation, so I don't know if that helps or not.
So I guess my question is, is there even a name for them? Should I just make up my own race? I really don't want to put down 'Unknown' so if you have any suggestions, please help!

I think it's called a Harpy ^^
Well, it all depends on you, of course, considering she developed them through genetic modification and wasn't born that way. I mean, technically, she could be just called a genetically modified human.
However, I suppose you could go with a Harpy or a Siren, considering that the original greek Sirens were singers with the body of birds and the face of women. Like most mythological creatures, though, there are a lot of versions and variations! You could always make up your own race, or modify the above or others.

You could just write down Human - Genetic Mutation.
A harpy might be one of your best options, but it may help you get to thinking about her race if I ask this simple question:
Why did a human girl develop wings through a genetic mutation?
Humans aren't made to be aerodynamic by themselves, and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with slapping wings on a human--s'how we got Renascence era angels & cherubs, and Hawkman & 'girl, after all!-- labeling her as "a human with a genetic mutation" might consider a little more forethought! Does she have more than just the wings? Is she injected with bird DNA? Maybe she's some sort of human(like) alien whose strange extraterrestrial genetics allowed for the wings to occur?

Well, if it's a mutation from a lab, it should be "batch"so and so or hawk, and human hybrid. Like the others said, it could be Harpy, yeah. But, if it was an accident, then you should put yourself in your character's shoes. What I mean is, you should make a name for the species, that your character-Rose- would make. Just my suggestion though! I hope I helped.
The possibility of them being augmented on but not being functional is also a thought.
Most accurate name for it would be Chimera - not the mythical creature, but a creature with two types of DNA in its body.
Or just general splice.
Piece of advice though - developing wings (extra limbs, mind you, made of skin and bone and muscle tissue, which do not grow after birth and one is most definitely born with them) doesn't just happen randomly. The genetic mutation had to have happened in the womb - more realistically speaking, once the zygote is formed (sperm and ovum connect) the DNA is set and cannot be changed so the mutation ought to have happened before that too, but it's far-fetched to employ that much biological accuracy into making a character, unless you have an idea for that.
Or just general splice.

Sometimes Chimera will have more then just one trait of the dna mixture, though don't get me wrong and I agree with you on everything you said, I am thinking a human Hybrid would go over smoother seeing they only have the wings.. sorry to sound so condescending my friend but I just felt Chimera might be to much..

And that, my friends, is science (Sorry!)
Good luck!
Awesome, glad to hear it! Good luck with your character!

Biologically speaking, a hybrid is a mix of two genetically dissimilar parents of the /same/ species (or in the case of some plants, same family, because inter-species crossing is possible with plants). Not to go into detail because biology terminology is boring af. Don't worry friend, you don't sound condescending - we both want to offer more precise answers.
