I prefer RPing as Canons, to the extent, lesser known canon characters such as Akira, my main muse. I once tried RPing OCs, but it felt kind of weird to me. It made me awkward and kind of uncomfortable. TBH, I don't feel I am good on making OCs, but I do like learning about other people's OCs. I just won't rp an OC or make one to make the person happy. Both Canon and OC Rpers can get along.

Long or short posts?

As long I have something to work with. I do like nice, long posts where I can engage in a good story. One liners are okay in some Rps or shits and giggles RPs. I don't like one word responses. That is hard for me to work with.

Plotting or Wing it?

I am for both. Sometimes, winging it makes a better story, as long it goes some place.

Favourite genres and settings?

I tend to like action, adventure and some slice of life type roleplays. I also like blood and gore if it is handled well.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?

I feel like I am not big on romance, but I am not good at RPing romance.
I prefer ocs, I don't mind rping with canon characters, but I never use them for any reason, I will control npcs but thats as far as that goes, but if someone uses a kannon character, I expect them to be identical in personality or changed somehow to be more of an OC with a canon base. as for post lengths, I will but up with anything as long as it is not Text speak, so I am rather easy to rp with, and I always like winging it, but if I have a plot in mind I will speak about it, but I have no problem sticking to someone else's plot, my desires setting it always changing but I always use characters with powers and talents so I do not like settings that restrict peoples characters as I find them unfair to a point, AND i am not talking about god mode bs I am talking about them not being who they where made to be.
Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?

To be honest, I like both equally. As long as the other person can roleplay a canon character well, I'll enjoy them being whoever they are. As long as the OC is actually well developed and not very sloppy, like an 'evil overlord half angel half demon son of satan assassin king' or simply a Mary Sue kind of person, I am fine with OCs, too.

I myself, on RPR, have two OC character sheets and three Canon character sheets (might be two soon, because the person I was roleplaying as Maya with is leaving RPR). I enjoy them both, but I find making canon character sheets to be way easier than an OC.. Because I have wikia, and not my memory. x3

Long or short posts?

Depends what you mean by long and what kind of RP it is. If it is a roleplay where we both are paying full attention to the RP as responding ASAP, I would prefer usually just a paragraph or two (though I can do any length, it may just be longer for me to respond if it is three+ paragraphs, and quicker if it is just short one liners). If it is a normal forum RP that takes a while for people to respond, I don't mind RPing in three paragraphs.

Plotting or Wing it?

I prefer winging it, and maybe with a little bit of plot to help us keep the RP in a proper story while adding things on to it to make it even better.

Favourite genres and settings?

I enjoy Fantasy roleplays over most others. I feel like I can roleplay them better, even if it is from a fandom I don't know much about. I like Sci-Fi, too, but Sci-Fi, unlike Fantasy, can have extremely different plots and story from RP to RP, so it is harder to adjust to them.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?

I am not a huge fan of Modern roleplays (unless it is Danganronpa). I used to like it, but it quickly became stale for me after a while.
To be honest, I actually really like playing as canon characters. It takes out all of the frustration that can sometimes crop up when trying to sort out an OC, while also allowing me to "further their story" and be able to "see" more of them. Though, I've always felt I'm pretty good at sticking to the set personality, even when it evolves and develops due to happenings in the story. It's kind of a fun challenge to try and stick to that personality, while adding my own personal spin to the "voice" in each post, so they aren't like every other "version" of that character. Seeing canon characters played poorly is not fun. That said.. I also adore my OCs, they're very important to me, and I like the freedom they offer, too.

I like mid-to-long posts, like a small paragraph or more. Sometimes less, if a long post isn't needed, but somewhat longer posts keep me engaged. I usually just return whatever I'm given though.

I've never felt that great at plotting myself, but I adore a good story line or overall place for the story to veer towards. Winging it can be fun, too, though- just depends on the players and their characters.

My preferred genres are all over the place... I guess fantasy, but not necessarily dragons and castles and what not. Fantasy more like GW2, or fictional worlds made up of tons of different fantasy creatures. And animal roleplays are always fun too. I'm not picky about setting, though I don't find much interest in steampunk/medieval/futuristic space age type stuff. And romance... I'm okay at it when there's a genuine backbone to the relationship, but it's not my genre of choice.

Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
OCs. I used to RP canons when I was in my teens, but at some point I outgrew it and now I can't do it anymore. It's awkward for me, and there is always the inevitability that the character grows and develops. It's impossible to maintain a static personality, as personality is dynamic. At some point you're more or less forced to adapt even canon characters in a story, otherwise you're bound to get stuck. I might as well stick to OCs.

Long or short posts?
Both. I love writing big intros and big posts, but I won't fluff anything out. If there are only 2-3 sentences to write, then that's fine. 4 paragraphs are fine too. I learned to be flexible cause posts are also dynamic, not static. I used to demand a minimum paragraph count, but at some point you just end up inhibiting your creativity and burn yourself out.

Plotting or Wing it?
Plotting. I can't work with aimless characters. Everyone in life has long term and short term goals and purposes, that's what motivates us to go out and do things. Characters need this too, and that ties in directly with plotting. If a character 'just does whatever s/he feels up to at the moment', it's a straight up "No thanks" from me cause it usually means I'm left to myself to come up with interesting ideas to keep things going.

Favourite genres and settings?
Fantasy and Sci-Fi, with a touch of supernatural. Settings either medieval or futuristic. I usually don't do well in modern settings and have no characters that work in them. I also do the occasional erotic roleplay with other adults, but that tends to tie in with the stories my characters are involved in.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?
Sci-Fi probably. I used to avoid it until only a few years ago, and while I don't think I'm terrible at it, it's my least practiced genre.
Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
Both! The more the merrier.

Long or short posts?
Both, again.

Plotting or Wing it?
Both! I like to have a vague plot, then just wing it!

Favourite genres and settings?
Gore, horror, gorror. Anything with gore or psychological things.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?
I.. I don't think I don't really like all that much. I can RP anything, but my least favorite would have to be mushy-gushy perfect romance. There always has to be SOMETHING wrong!

1. Do you prefer OC's or Canon's?
I have chosen OC's. because they are such fun to create with. As long it's not a god mod OC.

2. Long or Short posts?
Depends if I have the motivation and ideas.

3. Plotting or Wing it?
Both, It would rather be such fun for me to start plotting, and winging it.

4. Favorite genre?
Action and Adventure.

5. What genres do you not like or one that you want to improve on to yourself?
I somehow dislike drama, but I don't think I need any more improvement from the other genres.
DragonShard

Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
I prefer to play OC's but I have no problems RPing with people who play either. As Sanne said above, it's hard for me to remain true to a Canon character as change and development is part of any good story, and often times a Canon character is sort of time-locked. The possibility for poor RP exists equally with both just as some folks find their muse with one or the other.

Long or short posts?
I favor long intro posts to set a scene, tone, descriptions, and so forth but my posts will usually taper off into a paragraph or two as an RP continues. It's a give and take though; if I get multiple paragraphs in reply I'll do my best to reciprocate. Some fluff in a post is enjoyable; I like RP to be immersive so describing to me how something smells or a brief blurb about something in the world adds to it for me.

Plotting or Wing it?
I prefer to establish a skeleton of a story, a driving action as it were, but then I rather enjoy making it up as we go. I'm not a super organized person so it's very hard for me to plot out an entire story but I can come up with a rough outline easily enough. By keeping it loose I think it also allows flexibility for all the players involved.

Favourite genres and settings?
I enjoy fantasy and sci-fi quite a bit though for the latter I prefer it be set within an existing universe even if it's OC's. With fantasy, there's a lot of standard tropes and expectations that apply, but there's so many different varieties of sci-fi that without a 'norm' it can get way too confusing and 'out there' quite quickly.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?
I'm not as good at horror RP though I'd be lying if I said I had much desire to improve. It just doesn't interest me as much. I love a good scary story as much as the next guy but I have a harder time RPing one out. Likewise, sci-fi RP such as steampunk or cyberpunk, while I enjoy both genres, I've encountered a lot of resistance to writing within them. I think it suffers from the unclear universal 'norm' that I mentioned above. I likewise don't have much experience or inclination to participate in anime RP's; not to say I wouldn't RP with an anime character but the genre itself outside of Final Fantasy has never held much appeal for me. I've tried to get into it multiple times and just haven't been able to; it's a little too artsy for me, perhaps, or I've been watching bad anime.
Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?

I don't care. I will play either myself. I usually prefer OC's however. Usually I'll only rp a character if I think Ican pull them off. For instance, I do feel that I'm more than able to pull of Starscream from Transformers: Prime, but Optimus Prime is way out of my league currently XD

Long or short posts?

Varies for me. I don't care how long your post is so long as I can respond to it. I typically post atleast a few liens per post unless I'm really running out of ideas. At most I can post more than five Paragraphs(Don't really count). But I really prefer to be in between in regards to length. Easier for me to keep a consistent mid-ish length than a really long beast of a post, and it's bettert han really short one liners.

Plotting or Wing it?

Plotting, definitely. I have difficulty just winging it. Though I am more than okay with adding onto a plot as the rp goes.

Favourite genres and settings?

Sci-fi and LOTR styled fantasy(Has magic, a large multitude of races, etc.) all the way. I'm also more than happy doing modern rp's. Combat I'm kind of iffy on, so combat focused rp's typically aren't my thing.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?

I can't think of any genres I hate, with Romance being the only one I can think of(Even then I don't hate it, I just don't like it). As for what I'd like to improve on, just about every genre I like to rp XD
Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
I prefer OCs purely because you can add more to their character, personality or otherwise. To admit, it also allows me to express myself more. What I mean is, take my character Rachel, for example. She was created long ago from my thoughts which were bitter and all Negative back then. Then I created another character, Azalea (Aka, Sin), who was sort of the opposite.

Long or short posts?
I couldn't care less XD As long as I can work off of it!

Plotting or Wing it?
While winging it is fine and all, I believe proper Plotting could be best when doing a 1x1. Especially for the afterstory (After conclusion, around where the characters part ways or other) however, keeping vague, but not too vague is best I think! ^^

Favourite genres and settings?
Adventure and Fantasy by far!

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?
I don't really dislike any, however, I wish to get better at Sci-Fi and Slice-of-life.
Gnaea (played by Yuka)

Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
OCs. I have played Canon characters before on request, but only for set RPs and if the plot in particular interests me.

Long or short posts?
I prefer posts on the longer side, generally from around 10 lines to 2 paragraphs on the smallest font via Furcadia. Via RPR, a couple of paragraphs. Longer posts are fine if the post isn't fluff or filler. I love describing the setting and surroundings as much as I do the characters.

Plotting or Wing it?
Plotting broadly speaking, but I will not tailor how my character responds in order to fit a particular plot that the other person may desire. I am not going to make her act 'out of character' so then someone else gets happy-warm fuzzies.

Favourite genres and settings?
High Fantasy ;)

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on
None...? I'm happy with what I play. I feel confident that I could quite easily branch into other genres, I just prefer not to.
Loren

Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
OCs. I'm not really comfortable in roleplaying in "canon" worlds, and do not enjoy roleplaying with canon characters, because of the lack of room for them to evolve - they're always "static", so to speak.

Long or short posts?
I suppose I generally prefer longer posts, broadly speaking. I usually write a couple of paragraphs, generally more. If there's not much to write, however, I'll (try) to refrain from writing filler posts.

Plotting or Wing it?
Plotting! I love plotting. Plotting with roleplay partners is something I enjoy.

Favourite genres and settings?
High Fantasy is always fun, even if I ironically don't roleplay it that much. Modern, "Urban" fantasy is also pretty entertaining. I do have to say I love roleplays with a historical (even if also with a fantasy element ;)) vertent to them, though, and ones involving time travel.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on
I don't really enjoy romance roleplays. I also think I should try to roleplay more frequently in a futuristic setting without any time travelling or more "fantastical" elements.
Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?

I sorta prefer OCs. They have a lot more room for development and are overall more free than canon characters. Besides. With canon there are things that may end up troubling, like what if the scene you are RPing actually happens on the series but in a whole different way, what are you going to do then? And well, we all know those few occasions when people playing canon characters do it only for the looks and skills and don't really know anything of the character itself so they constantly act out of character

Long or short posts?

This pretty much wholely depends on the RP partner. If they post several paragraphs, I have more to react to and will post longer. But if they post like a centence or few, so will I

Plotting or Wing it?

I usually like to think of at least some sort of plot for an RP before starting it. It might be evolving on its own though and to me the fact that it can always change and there is an element of surprice present with there being another person with whom to carry the plot forward

Favourite genres and settings?

I don't know if I have a fave really. I like may areas like Fantacy, Historical RPs and basicly anything with Weapons xD

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?

I really don't like romance... It's not a thing for me and I just don't know how to RP that at all
I want to improve with Horror RPs. I'd like to be good at that~
Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
I honestly prefer to play with OCs. For one, you never can be sure if the player of the canon is able to pull it off. I, can pull off a few canons that I can think of. Just because they are your favorite character, does NOT mean that you are able to play them. I myself love the anime Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, and I even played my first canon from that show. When I first watched it, it was nine months ago, and I played my first canon maybe... Three months after watching it, since I watched the dubbed movie that came out on that day before I was going to try and attempt playing one.

The funny thing is: I ended up not playing my favorite character. After debating who to play, I ended up playing Sakura Kyouko instead of Miki Sayaka. If you look at why I picked one of the other, you would probably understand why I didn't go with Sayaka. Not only that, but I feel VERY close to how Kyouko decides things. I normally play her type of character, but she herself is unique to me. I based a character's personality off of her (at first, before I changed it a lot after playing Kyouko)

Basically, some people do not think about the character as a whole when playing them, rather that they are their favorite character or they are cool. I've seen so many bad Naruto Canons, that I refused to play with anyone that played one. I myself could play Ino Yamanaka, but again, I also cannot. When you make a character, you are able to get into their mind. When you play a canon, you should be able to do the same. So, unless I have a reference to how good the player is, I will refuse to play with the character. They could also play a character that I have no idea about, and not know that they are doing a horrible job, but then again, there is a such thing as a wiki. If you play a character a bit different than what it is, that might be okay. But if you play a character as an opposite... I would probably block the player o.o

Also, I prefer canon over head canon, unless it is in an AU setting, of which I change a few things. I play Kyouko pre-MSMM, so that she can be used outside of that universe. So basically when you meet her, that is how I play her... That's sort of how I see that everyone should play canons, otherwise, I won't play with them for the most part.
Long or short posts?
If you can tell by my last answer: I like long replies. I honestly like when writers write about a character's thoughts, or why they did something, or even a scene. I love detail as well, I prefer to do posts that are somewhere around three to five paragraphs. It's not novella, but it's still a lot of detail no less. I feel like in my personal roleplays (I rp differently on here and on Chatzy) I want long posts, and shorter long paragraphs on the other site.

It of course is just the way that I look at it, but I really love fluff if it isn't over done. Using big words all the time doesn't cut it. Writing about a random thing that sticks out makes you think about being there, and noticing that bright yellow coffee mug among a neutral colored bar. It makes your post more interesting, and allows your partner to work along side you with crafting the scene as you go. That's of course my take on it...
Plotting or Wing it?
I'm a big plotter. I prefer to craft a world with my partners, and talk off major parts about the story. I like to have a plotline set up so that we both know what we have in mind. So, if the plot is for two pirates to crash on an island, there should be build up to it. So, getting on the ship, and sailing there. Otherwise, you won't know how to start it. Then, how would they get off? Or are they even going to get off? That's pretty important. I feel like three things are enough to know (beginning, build up, and middle or at least where we see the plot going pre-rp.)

Of course the rp is going to change in terms of plot, but I like to get into something with a bit in mind. So, think of the plot timeline as milestones that we need to pass in order to get to the next step. Whatever happens in between will end up leading to the milestone--maybe faster or slower than planned. That is fun to me, to see the characters get their by being themselves.
Favourite genres and settings?
I really seem to like modern-fantasy worlds. My favorite of all is Frara, which is a world in where the planet was founded by humans of the not too far future, and they went to that planet because the Earth was dying. What ended up happening was a war, and they began creating enhanced humans that go by the name of "Advanced Humans" to fight as a sort of super solider/spy. It is pretty cool, and is modern, fantasy, and si-fi at the same time. Not very Si-Fi, but the tech is beyond our own.

For the genres and settings that I play the most, I would have to say modern romance in city/town settings. It's just a default I guess I could say.
What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?
Honestly, I would like to improve on my fighting manners. When I was taught to do so, I was taught horribly. I understand a lot of the things that you have to do to be fair, but some of my attacks would seem a bit too much for some characters, but that is just how the character is.

As for genres that I do not like; I would have to say pure si-fi. I will do mecha despite me not being too big on it, but si-fi really isn't my taste for the most part if it is si-fi, and si-fi only.

I never could do OCs, since I am not good at making them. So I chose RPing Akira from an obscure game called Live a Live. The info on most of the characters is so sparse and half of their scenarios are open books for development by the fans.

My beef with fellow Canon Rps is that some people make them insanely OOC. Which happens with allot of canon RPers and it annoys me. I can't see Cloud Strife being an uke or Naruto having rage fits like Gordon Ramsay.

What bothers me more is when people RP a canon to full-fill their personal kinks.
PANGAEA

Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?

• Chiefly, I prefer OCs. Like the few who already stated this I think development is crucial, but with a Canon character there isn't much room to move around. It seems to be already set in stone. This doesn't mean I am entirely closed to Canon characters, however. I will just be very picky on who I choose to RP a Canon character with; someone who can be flexible within the boundaries.

Long or short posts?

• Even though I don't want to be biased between the two it's a general perception that Quality = Longer Posts, and most of the time that is true. I love a vivid post of 2-3 paragraphs or more, but please.. do spare me the fillers.

Plotting or Wing it?

• I absolutely love plotting. It's what sets an RP in motion and is the sole drive of the RP, but it shouldn't obstruct freedoms either. I look at it as a contour or, as a better example, lineart. You have your outline and all it needs is some colouring in. It's both liberated and governed.

Favourite genres and settings?

• Mm.. I have no major preferences, but should I choose one over all the others I suppose it would be Supernatural which I think is the more realistic version of Fantasy. I like to give reason of why and how things happen. I hate to be the nerd, but I do like logic. If my character has some lightning affinity I will explain it down to the molecule. With me things- magic- can't just happen. I am more than open to philosophy.

As a second thought I also enjoy action packed RP. Fighting scenes and suspense are things that keep me on my RP toes. :)

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?

• Erm. I never incline towards Slice of Life RP. I live an awesome life, but I don't want to RP about anything similar to it. It's like me watching the Life Time channel and that in itself suffocates me.

As far as improvement.. I'm sure there's something I can improve on, but nothing in particular comes to mind.
Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?
It depends on the character. It depends on how much I think I "get" a character, how much I think I can display the very same personality that drew me to them in the first place--sometimes I prefer an original character, sometimes not. I realize that's vague, but it really is on a case-by-case basis. I think I play Lara Croft rather well, but I couldn't for the life of me do justice to her very inspiration, Indiana Jones. I've played Marvel Comics' Venom and I think I play him well, also, but I can't really write Spider-Man well. So on and so on; again, case-by-case.

Others have mentioned the growth of a character, and I think a canonical character can be allowed to grow and change without leaving what made them an interesting character to begin with. I've played through growth of canonical characters, and to date haven't often felt I've taken them off-model.

Long or short posts?
Depends on what I have to write, what I have to respond to, and what I have to offer. I generally get around a paragraph or two; much more and I feel it risks becoming fluff, as people write so much that real people would never actually do or say.

Plotting or Wing it?
Winging it! I'm pants at plotting very much in advance because there are far too many variables to take into account, but if I may be immodest, I think I'm pretty darn good at reacting without a ton of pre-thought, helping to craft a right interesting story with believable characters

Favourite genres and settings?
Modern-day, real-world Earth, that'd be my tippy-top favorite, though I certainly enjoy as wide a range as most people.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?
I'm not really a huge fan of straight-up "fantasy". That said, I created a character primarily for that setting so I could get more enmeshed in it, so I could give myself more experience with it. Hasn't been a rousing success, but neither has it been an abysmal failure. Still, everything adds to experience, and that was the ultimate goal, anyway.

I always see with certain canons, it can be a fun challenge. As I stated, the game Akira is from isn't known or had an English release. Info is very sparse on these characters. So rping him.gives me some open windows. Same with Matsu and Red XIII.

Some canons I can't pull off well. Date from DMC was one, but I could do Vergil with ease.

I have done Winston from the GhostBusters and even Neo from the Matrix.

Rping a canon isn't unoriginal or bad. It just takes some TLC and knowledge of your muse. As
Well, this topic is certainly peppy.

Do you prefer OCs or Canons? Please state why?

OCs usually. My characters tend to reflect aspects of my own personality, and I'm prone to relating better to an OC without all the considerations of what the character that someone else created would do. I have done some canons, but it's generally not my thing unless it's a character I'm really into and familiar with (I'd kill to get into a Metal Gear RP, for instance.)

Long or short posts?
Mid-range is my usual. Three to five is my average for slow-pace, one or two paragraphs for faster pace. More than that and things start to feel fluffy.

Plotting or Wing it?
No doubt, winging it. Not to sound clichéd, but my process is organic and my characters react. The more I plan and think about it, the less "real" it feels to me and the less immersed I become.

Favourite genres and settings?
Fantasy, medieval, that sort of thing. Not necessarily magic and dragons, but that timeframe. I suppose it's a longing for a simpler time. Cell phones and TV irritate me in my day-to-day life, they don't need to irritate me here.

What genres do you not like or ones you want to improve yourself on?

I'm not overly fond or familiar with sci-fi stuff, but I've done one or two in that sort of a setting that played out pretty well. I don't really spend much time with that kind of thing in general (movies, video games, books) so I suppose I'm just out of the loop. I am a space nerd, though, so the potential is there.
