Hey there, RPR. It's been a while. A pretty long while. Five or six months time, maybe? About that. |D
Things had been hectic, things were crazy, some things were even quite depressing.
*claps hands*
So if you're interested in the story (that I'm going to attempt to keep to the point), pop a squat and get ready. Otherwise, there's a TL;DR at the bottom. :'D
My fiancé and I planned things about a year... maybe a year and a half in advance while collaborating with family in Ohio and the family I had in Texas. The day finally came that we were making our trip to Ohio and things looked pretty darn positive for everyone. My fiancé and I got to move in with my aunt and one of my cousins for a bit, and we were gonna look for jobs and be out of my aunt's hair afterwards whilst paying back for hospitality.
We only lasted a week with my aunt before my tolerance levels for what she did with her grandkids and the fact that she was stealing from both my fiancé and I were pushed to their limits and I had a fairly serious discussion with her about mine and my fiancé's missing items. Unfortunately, no one owned up to it, and even tried to accuse me of doing X thing and not remembering, or my fiancé doing X thing and not telling me.
Fortunately, my cousin appeared to be on our side about all of it, and she had some disagreements and disputes with her mother on more than one occasion as well. She's the one that would have the house that my fiancé and I were to stay at set up and whatnot. With that in mind, my fiancé and I get our friend that originally helped us get to Ohio from Texas in the first place to help us out a bit and assist us to get moved in over there.
Now the house itself was a fixer-upper, and it was agreed that while my fiancé and I were looking for jobs, and repairing / cleaning up the house, we would be compensated for our work that we were doing on the house because no one was going to call anyone to repair the pipes, fix the ceiling in the dining room, or get rid of the black mould in the dining room any time soon.
Not even a week or two into the house that we were staying at and fixing up / cleaning up ourselves, the person that my cousin was in contact with shows up at the doorstep, demanding money from us. Not something we really wanted to deal with. Being the relatively nice people we are, we're like, "okay, yeah, look... things are crazy, and this was short notice, we'll pay for the inconvenience at best. But after this, since we were supposed to move in next month, we'll get the compensation, right?"
We were told yes -- and unfortunately for our situation draining us, my fiancé and I weren't too concerned with getting anything in writing, which I wish I did to avoid copious amounts of BS that would have been avoided were we to have tangible agreements with signatures and all that good stuff. So -5 points for us for not thinking that one through all the way at least on that aspect.
In any case, there was more drama involving the house that my fiancé and I dealt with when everyone involved seemed to be poorly informed on the situation -- us probably most of all out of the two to three people that squabbled and bickered with one another about the future of the house. That's always fun. |D;;
Fortunately, and luckily, for us... we were able to find some jobs that were happy to hire us with no further BS, and we were approved for our lovely new apartment that is super convenient -- because the ease of access to everything is just superb. We just got moved into the new apartment: a nice two bedroom, two bathroom, and our friend is going to be rooming with us either by the end of this month or within the next month.
I'm finally getting de-stressed and more motivated to do things writing-wise and art-wise. So I really hope that I can start role playing more often... though I'll probably keep it to one-on-one role plays for now to keep it more manageable. :'D And to everyone I do owe art to: please be just a little more patient! I'm finally getting to draw more, and I should have all artistic obligations done in the next two weeks. ^ o ^ /
TL;DR
My family in Ohio sucks overall. There was too much drama that made my fiancé and I bounce. The house we were supposed to live in was crap, and the people involved were being equally crappy. Got jobs, got a better apartment, and here we are.
