I've got a few old favorites in my repertoire from over the years that I, honestly, miss. Still, I hesitate to bring them to a new site or even attempt to reprise them out of some strange sense that the new version won't measure up. I'm sure it would play out differently, but would it be good enough to live up to the biased standards I've set for it?

What're your opinions on re-using old stories with new people? Good idea? Bad? Ever done it yourself?

Personally I like the idea of re-using a story. It can be very helpful if you've run out of ideas for stories and need to come up with something. For instance, just recently I asked if anyone would be interested in a Steven Universe rp, and decided to reuse the story-line I have going for another rp where Steven meets a few other Gems and gets the idea to make a second team of Crystal Gems to help out when the main Crystal Gems are busy.

To add onto reusing story ideas being a quick and easy way to come up with a plot, it can be interesting to see things turn out differently and to see what new people would want to hop in and such.

I do it often. Sometimes when the person does ask for one and never replies. I just give it to someone else.

Broad brush-stroke stories can often work well used again. But the moment you start getting into the same smaller details, it can get complicated.

Well it seems to be fairly unanimous. Maybe I'll give it a whack sometime.

I find that even though I want to, I can't re-use an old story! I do, however, re-use old characters and maybe use the old story as part of their background story.

I think it's a great idea. I've done it several times, though mine always take a completely different turn.. Which I think is a good thing. You should totally try it out.

I'll have to do that, provided I can either find a group of the right people or think of one I can adapt for two.
