He admit, the sky didn't seem like Earth anymore. It was no longer blue like the once-beautiful sunny skies in the olden days where you could pleasantly look up to. Compared to last year, litter was now scattered everywhere beyond this land. Quinn sighed at the looming road ahead of him, quietly wishing that he could have somebody beside him nowadays. It's been lonely.
...
Time passed for awhile, but he kept on walking. As he proceeded, he suddenly caught eye on something; something that stood out to him. Heart lifted, he squinted to see what's up in the distance.
A market? He speculated the new location he was in, trying to be careful about who was near and what consequences he may face. But unfortunately, it's been awhile since he last ate, and he couldn't decide on any other choice but this.
He should be expecting others there, he feared. The boy wrapped his arms as his stomach growled abruptly. He can't end here.
Regardless, Quinn proceeded down the road anyway and finally entered the door. "......."

Bree heard the dull chime of the market door, and she tensed up. Shit. Shit shit shit. She looked up from behind a register, where she constantly sat, a knife clutched in her hand. It was... A boy? She couldn't tell, but she felt like he wouldn't hurt her, not that he could. She was able to eat, and this boy looked starving. "W-Who's there..?" She called out, trying to sound intimidating. "D-Don't move an inch, I've got a weapon!" Her voice was probably the opposite of intimidating. It's no wonder people always managed to take what they want and leave.
Quinn heard a voice. He stepped back, even though he already knew someone was there, but he thought a little thankfully to himself that it wasn't as worse as he thought it would be; still, the girl he heard from can still do dangerous things, and this also applies to everyone. He has always kept that in mind. The boy wouldn't want to answer, he just wanted to grab some things and quickly go. He wasn't actually here to put up a fight--he wasn't fit to be in one anyway. He took a rushed look around the place, all of the stalls were empty except for one in the back, and the girl was gaurding it. He silently understood, but Quinn couldn't fight her. He can't fight a girl like her.
"Um..." he consciously moved forward slowly just so he won't cause any more tension between the two, "excuse me, I'm not here to cause trouble but," he pointed at the food behind her. He wasn't sure if they were empty or not. "Well.... you see, I'm in dire need, and it would be kind if you could hand me those...." Quinn awkwardly paused and added on, "please."

She didn't expect him to speak to her, and she wasn't quite sure what to do. "Umm.. I.. It's the last of my food source.." She stated, her voice shaking. The boy was taller than she expected, why did she have to be short?? "I... I don't want to share it..." She was shaking, but she had to keep strong about this. "P-Please.. Just.. Leave me alone, all I have is food, there's nothing f-for you here.." She said, although she was already instinctively reaching for one of the cans to hand to him. God dammit Bree, why are you so nice?! She thought to herself, tossing him one of the cans. She glanced at her knife, before sliding it over to him, so he could open the can. She hoped to hell she wasn't making a mistake with this..
"Ah..!" He was relieved at her words, although strangely, he wasn't expecting this to be taken so easily. "Why.. thank you. But you don't really need to give it all up. You're very sweet, I don't mind if we could share, since this is the last one." He grabbed the can and opened it with the knife for her, "You seem a lot friendly unlike the other wanderers I've met around this desolated city. I'm not sure why you don't have anybody else with you, but I'm glad I'm not the only one." Quinn grabbed a plate and poured some and gave it to the girl. "So, what's your name? If you don't mind me asking."
((oops i messed up but it's w/e))
((oops i messed up but it's w/e))
She frowned slightly, and shook her head. "I'm not one to share. You have it all, you need it more than I do." She paused when he asked for her name, and sighed. "My name is Bree. I have a full name, of course, but just call me Bree." She ran her fingers through her surprisingly neat hair. "What about you?
"My name is Quinn. Pleased to meet you, Bree. And why not? It wouldn't be right for a boy to take it all and leave the girl with nothing." He urged the plate towards her, "I owe you for this one, so please, at least take some."
"No, really. Don't worry about me, I've already eaten today." She stated, rolling her eyes. "Stop trying to be polite, it's quite annoying." She dropped her shy act the second she got his name. The act was fun sometimes, but it's annoying to keep going at all times. She looked around the now fully bare store. "Dammit, Ill have to move on again.." she muttered. "Sis was right..."
"Huh? Trying to be polite? These aren't acts, it's called manners," a little taken back at the transition of her voice, "but sure, I'll take it. I was only thankful because everyone else here is desperate." He caught her murmur, "you're gonna leave soon?"
"Why the hell should I stay? This place is empty, it gets cold at night, and personally, I think it freaking sucks." She said, straightening up and stretching. "So I'll be moving on at sunrise tomorrow with my secret st-" She cut herself off, eyeing him. Her naïve side may trust her, but this side of her sure as hell doesn't.
"Alright, miscalculated," his voice dimmed down at the language, "I'm a little worn out, so I'm gonna stay here for a bit before anyone else comes. Once I refuel, I hope we can meet up again sometime. Two-face." He smiled a little at her words, "secret something, huh? Secret someone? Well, have fun with your secret someone, then. Stay safe."
"Secret stash, dummy. My someone.. Left awhile ago." She muttered, her face falling. "..I miss her." She let herself sink against the wall, lost in her thoughts. "Why did they do this dammit.."
"Oh.. I'm sorry to hear." He noticed her troubled expression. The word left was implied to be something else. The disease was contagious, after all, so he understood with no further question-- if that was the case. Quinn only got closer to her, and nothing more, and attempted to comfort her with a reassuring tone. He didn't want to continue the topic, Quinn decided. "Move on if you need to, I don't want to burden you here any longer. Although, for thanks, if you need anything, you can go to me if we see each other the next time we meet."
"...I don't want to be alone again." She whispered. "It's terrifying being alone.. I hate it..." She hated this. She hated her weakness was showing. She hated it more than anything else. "But if I'm not alone, they'll end up hating me.. Or dead..."
Who's they? he thought. If he insisted on going with her, then trouble would be brewing for him as well. He didn't want to get associated with her only for more trouble in return. But the situation was tricky, and yet, he secretly wanted to help her. Bree was indeed a pretty girl, but more importantly, the girl seemed visibly troubled as she spoke. He was also getting a little lonely over the past few days, so surely this chance should be beneficial for him. Quietly, Quinn knew he has already been through his worst, and in the end there's always a way. He then insisted. "Hey, I don't know who these people are, and I don't know what happened in the past, but your needs should come first. And if you're terrified of being alone, then I'll simply go with you. This city is a very vast place; with this much space, I'm sure they won't find you."
"...You shouldn't go with me. I don't know what kind of trouble you've experienced, but just being in the same vicinity as me.. Could get you infected." She said in a completely deadpan voice, staring straight at him. "You should leave before you do. If you do, you'll die." Her voice cracked. She didn't want him to go, but she didn't.. She didn't want him to die, either.
Quinn was puzzled at the response at first, and then he immediately knew once he figured it out. The feelings of sympathy for this girl now turned to horror. He let go of the can, he didn't even dare wanna to touch it again. "You're..." He stood up and stepped back. "You're infected?" He didn't want to believe it, but regrettably, she was right. Staying with her could put him in vile danger. He tried leaving. He wanted to leave, but something about her caused a part of him to refuse. Quinn shook his head at the absent thought. He should definitely stay away from this girl--no matter the circumstances.
"Technically, yes. I've.. Well, I've been infected since the beginning." She stated, looking away from him, pulling her knees up to her chest. "I suppose I owe you an explanation.. The Fugisaki family, have you heard of them?" She asked, watching him, moving away a bit just to put him a bit more at ease. "Also, you didn't have to drop the can, it doesn't work like that, asshole."
"Rumor said that the disease is contagious, so how am I supposed to trust you?" A tingling feeling suddenly stirred when Bree mentioned the word Fugisaki. "Yes, I have. The majority of this area knows about them. What do you need to tell me?"
"I can confirm the disease is contagious, but it's through skin contact." She rolled her eyes, and sighed. "My full name is Brilliana Elizabeth Fugisaki. I'm the daughter of the all-powerful Fugisaki family, and all I was, was their experimental puppet. My sister was their first test-dummy, and she died because of the disease they injected her with; a stronger version of the one that's wiped out the world, and so who was their other option?" She chuckled darkly, her eyes clouding over. "I'm the reason the disease spread so much. They injected me with it in my sleep. They sent me everywhere that was crowded, so that I'd bump into people. I spread the disease, I'm the reason the world's gone to hell, but it hasn't affected me." She stated, frowning. "I've yet to figure out why, perhaps they did more to me while I was asleep than I knew, making me to be their perfect lab rat.. screw them."
