Has anyone ever had, still have, or are developing a certain fear or disliking to a type of storm? I'm just asking since its been raining all day yesterday and it continues today. There is a hurricane on the way over here to the East Coast of the US. Last I heard, the hurricane made a boat get lost somewhere near the Bahamas, or something close to that, I believe. For starters, I have an irrational fear if tornadoes. It's irrational because I've never experienced it have been near a tornado firsthand. :'3
We rarely get any kinds of storms, but when we do the Danes go nuts. I remember the last serious(kinda) storm - I was at the university and my dad kept calling me to ask me where I was, yelling at me that I couldn't leave the university building because of the storm. The automatic doors at the university couldn't open, so we had to find manual doors, which were insanely hard to come by, to even exit the building. Public transport was non-existing that day and a lot of people had to spend that night at the central station because they couldn't get home. But I'm not really scared of storms, I think. I might be a teensy bit nervous if I ever came by a tornado, though.

When I moved to Japan, I wanted to feel an earthquake. Just little one. I just wanted the furniture to jiggle around a little bit. But after the Tohoku earthquake I became very scared of them.
There was a prediction of an earthquake. It was said it would be even more powerful than the Tohoku earthquake, and it was even predicted which day it would hit, and which geographical location. I knew I would be at work, in that area on the day. Even worse, my classroom was 10 seconds away from the coast. I considered calling in sick because I was so scared. I forced myself to go because I knew in my heart how irrational I was being, and needless to say, nothing ever came of it.
Storms on the other hand.
Storms are hilarious.
I love them.
Here's an actual article about my actual town.
Volcanoes. Oh god volcanoes! I've never seen one live and there are like no chances of one ever popping up in here but god. They fascinate me but also scare me to death. My first ever nightmare at around age 5 or 6 was of me getting stuck inside a volcano. I think the stuff in movies and cartoons and games and such with these kind of things are, like... A tornado you can technicly survive. Sure it can toss you somewhere far away and you might break a leg or so (or it could rip you apart), or then a tsunami that can also pick you up and carry you away, or drown you or such. Or an earthquake that can break stuff, but if you can you can try and escape that one and pretty much all of them
I dunno, it's just... Volcanoes. If the lava catches you you ded. No questions asked. Like, sure it can catch A Part of you and you survive with burns, but how likely is that? If it ever catches you you are more likely to get caught fully and die. And it will hurt
Or so I think
I have no actual experience of that, but still... Volcanoes are so dangerous! You can try predict them but there is so much danger around there. The lava, gasses, heat, ash.... It's danger.
One other reason for me to be afraid of them is probably because I haven't seen a good absolute destruction evidence video of a volcano. We didn't capture Pompeii on a video or anything modern that could reflect that really. Tsunamies I've seen, tornadoes, earthquakes.... But no volcano. It might be the mystery that scares me
Natural disasters fascinate me a whole lot, but volcanoes are 'the most distant' to me in a way. We have teeeny tiny earthquakes here, but you can't really feel them, we have winds over here, but they aren't enough for a tornado. Avalances don't really happen because we make sure they don't
But volcanoes. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I have no idea how I'd react to those
Also, I used to be afraid of thunder storms as a kid but nowadays they're amazing things to look at. I got over the fear when I was like 8 and man was it pitch black and the rain and wind + hail where overwhelming. Had to hope that my bro who was 9 was fine training at the firefighter Place and stuff. Personally we went to grandma's working Place to check on her and such. I saw a lightning strike quite a few things more or less than 10 meters away. My god. Well, I'm over the fear now, no more hiding under the bed. Although... Lightning bal or whatever it's called... Ball lightning? Those are still a mystery to me and a bit scary, but volcanoes.. Man.

Nah. I grew up in Texas, on the veeery edge of Tornado Alley. May not even technically be in it. Thunderstorms were a delight to listen/watch, and tornadoes themselves were frightening but fascinating. I fear red wasps more than I do storms.
Not even earthquakes really spook me, and in my 10 years of living in California, I've only experienced two mild ones outright to the point of recognizing what was happening. Heck, I miss a good ol' thunder storm. Most of them get caught in the mountains around the valley.
Not even tropical storms phase me. Never lived through a proper hurricane, but we had Tropical Storm... Rita, I think, come swoopin' through up into our East Texas neck of the woods that summer. '04? '05? It was a giant storm but weather-able. Not sure if that's a word. We weathered the storm. Again, it was fascinatin'.
Sleepy edit!: Regardless of the storm type comin' in, stay safe if you're on the East Coast, folks. I haven't been watching the news much this weekend, but I did see snippets of the storm path at some point earlier and pictures of flooding in the Carolinas.

, I don't actually mean that. Here in Virginia: We get blizzards sometimes. I agree, rain and thunderstorms are fun to watch but not fun to get on me
