...By the stray patch tabby formerly known as Butch.
We found him mewling piteously at our backdoor the last few evenings, it's been terrible weather, and this guy is just skin and bones.
He probably weighes four pounds, dripping wet. He is probably one of the most loving little guys I've ever seen, and after feeding and watering him, he crawled right into my lap and proceeded to hide his face in my hoodie.
Needless to say, I've decided to keep him (despite having really wanted a dog at some point in the future-- you know how it goes, people don't choose cats, cats choose their people.) I've already setup his vaccinations, neutering and checkup, but I'm at a loss for a name!
I was going to call him Oliver Twist, which seemed fitting, given his malnourished, orphaned state, but I'm looking for something more unique!
Thoughts?

Awwwww! Yay for taking in stray kitties that need a home!
He looks so darn comfy. I like Oliver as a name!

Yea, I couldn't bear the thought of throwing him back out there. He stayed with me most of last night, until I absolutely had to get some rest (I tried to put him out twice, and his 'oh god, please don't leave me' mewling made me come back downstairs and let him in.
Such a bleeding heart for soft, fluffy little creatures.
He more or less slept on my bed until around 5 am, when I finally put him out, so I could sleep without fear of him going to the bathroom somewhere in the apartment. x3
Got all the basics for him today, so tonight will be his first night inside and warm. My roomie suggested "Oscar" as an alternative.

Oh WOW, now that is a pretty kitty. He lucked out finding you!
*makes strange noises and paws at the screen* So... fluffy.... You're so lucky! I like Oscar as a name too.
He is adorable..
And as a human slave to my feline Darla, I would like to thank you on behalf of all the felines in the world.
Possible name suggestions:
Bairs (Back stAIRS )
I love Oliver and Oscar BTW
Gruel (the icky stuff Oliver Twist asked for )
And.. I'll have a think of some more. I work with kids and we love coming up with cool names for cats or dogs so I will ask them tomorrow to come up with a cool cat name for an extremely cool cat.

He looks like a Sandoval to me.
Oh my word he is gorgeous! And you are SO sweet to take him in. Poor guy really needs some love it seems. And he just looks so happy right there on your lap, I don't see how he could belong anywhere else!
I WANNA FIND MY SOUL-KITTY TOO!!
Anyways...name! I actually like Kim's suggestion of Sandoval. It's unique. My friend has a female cat named Olivia (female version of Oliver because of, you guessed it, Oliver Twist), so the name isn't that interesting to me. I think Sandoval is unique, and I always love unique names for cats. I don't like names that are just 'oh, that's your cat's name? Huh okay'.
That being said. I like Sandoval or Bairs. x3 (sounds like bears tehee )

Being an animal person, with most of those devoted to cats, this made my heart swell up with joy the moment I saw it. Thank you for taking this little kitty in !
Wow, so many comments! Well, I am an animal person too, it's been some time since I owned a cat, but I already adore this guy.
Thank you for all the name suggestions!
Sandoval is definitely an interesting one, I'll have to try it out and see if I get an ear perk. x3

He's so fluffy! I just wanna squish him! You'll have to come back and tell him what you decided on for a name. Glad the little guy was able to find his forever home!
Call him "Greebo" or "You" - both cats in the Terry Pratchett witches novels.
I like Gruel its unique and cool sounding. I like to give my cats odd names. (I used to have 45 of them, but then I got married and had a kid so crazy cat lady status had to go.)
I think "You" would get confusing for him, considering there are two other creatures in the apartment to communicate, and I do use 'You' a lot. xD
So far the stand outs for me are:
Oscar,
Bairs,
and Sandoval.
Gruel just isn't very flattering, and he's -such- a handsome little man. He deserves a nice name. Gruel is up there with Butch, for me. He just didn't look like a Butch when I took him in.

Whoever came up with the name Butch? It doesn't suit him at all. He's a very pretty boy. Look at that handsome profile! I agree he needs a classy name. Looks like a Donovan to me, but I like Bairs a lot, and the other suggested names as well.
I wish you much luck and love with the new kitty!

Who knows, maybe he likes dogs too. (Or the dog would like him )
I have two cats and one dog. We made sure when we got the dog that she would be okay with cats C:

Wow, he looks like a grow'd up, slightly fluffier version of Tiny, one of my kittens that came out of my cat who got knocked up when she went outside. LMAO, no chance you live in Texas, right?
I realized I never really finished up with this thread, so here, have an update!
Oliver/Butch officially became Oliver as a stand-in, but like any cat owner, I couldn't be trusted to just call him that. He developed many names (and sounds) by which to refer to him. The list includes:
Picho (pronounced peecho.)
Sir Underfoot
Olly Mustachio (Replaced Oliver Twist as his official name)
Que Picho Pichochito (look, don't ask me.)
Crooktail
Bubba
Michi (pronounced meeshi-- I'm pretty sure these are actual Spanish words. My step mother is Argentine and called one of her cats Michi and that's how she pronounced it.)
Stinkybutt
(He was skinny when we first got him, but it didn't last. He's twice the size of our other cat and burly)
(Feed me, human. That's his feed me face.)
(He is the fluffiest cat, like, unbelievable.)
So, he's healthy and happy and mouthy as ever.

Awwwwwwww kitttyyyyyyy!! He is so adorable and happy and healthy! I'm so jealous! When I get out of college I'm totally getting a cat. Our family cats are nice, but there's not quite that personal connection that people have with a cat that is their own.
Awwww, this makes my heart happy
