*Cough*...*Cough*"Ugh....this is ridiculous" shiro whispered in disgust. Currently he was on a path to a forest the he visited daily and noticed the dead grass and leaves on the ground. For the past few days the rate of pollution increased at a rapid pace and there was no sign of it slowing down. The pollution was so bad that water and food was contaminated, and about 30% of the total population had blacklung,a disease where the lungs rot. Eventually the pollution became to much for the plants and animals and they slowly began to die off, like the humans who caused it. After hearing about the harm the pollution caused, Shiro made it a personal quest to find the source of the pollution and stop it if he could.
Stopping in front of
the entrance to a forest, one that was considered to be haunted by nymphs, he whispered a little prayer then walked in. After about a few minutes of walking he stopped in a clearing and set down a platter of food. To the left of him there was some shuffling in a couple of bushes. To his surprise it was a baby deer.He noticed it was female and it looked sick. As soon as the deer came out of the bushes it fell over. Due to his quick reaction he ran and caught the young fawn. Being generous he pulled an apple out of the coat and fed it to young animal.
The forest was her place to live in. Her place that she was suppose to protect... But now the forest is dying. Humans has caused this death and Arethisia was saddened. She watched as the life in the forest began to die. There was nothing she could do. Every time she used her healing abilities to restore the dying cells of the tress they only ended up getting polluted the next day or so. It was like anything she tried to do to save the forest only seemed to delay the incoming death. All she could do was prolong it but now she was unable to do that. Since the pollution has killed of some of the trees and animals her powers weakened and even she was starting to feel the effects of the pollution.
If the forest died then she too would cease to exist. It is true that she is immortal but only if the forest survives... If there is nothing left then her life would also be gone. Arethisia was more concerned with the life of the forest then her own and so for weeks she tried her best to save the life that she was given to protect. Arethisia's skin begin to blacken as she was being infected by the death. It has made her weak each day and the pollution would only spread each day getting worse and worse.
Arethisa was walking around taking a look at how much the forest was damage today. She could feel her longs stinging slgihtly as she breathed in the polluted air. This angered her and also saddened her. As she walked around the forest she felt a presence nearby... two presences actually. But due to her weakened state she could not tell who or what they were so she headed in the direction where life was at and wondered if another creature will die today. After a while of walking she was able to see what they were. One was a deer who seemed weak and the other was... a human? Before she could act she gone into a coughing fit. The pollution in her lungs was acting up again and making her cough a whole bunch. She fell to her knees still coughing and it was getting hard for her to breath. The only thing she could think of was "Why?..."

Fifteen minutes passed since Shiro began to take care of the deer when suddenly the baby decided to get up and walk towards a bit of foliage. Making sure that she was okay, he followed. What both he and the fawn found was surprising. A beautiful, and unfortunately dying, nymph. The little fawn moved and nuzzled her face with a weak whine. Slowly Shiro pulled out a vial of a serum he made for himself. The purpose of this serum was to give a temporary boost to the immune system of an individual so that all of the toxins may be flushed out. He looked for another but only found one. Since he was already immune to the toxins in the air, he intended the serum to be for any sick creauture he came upon. He looked at the baby fawn and the nymph. The nymph was on the very edge of death and unfortunately the fawn was aswell. When he made eye contact with the fawn, She nodded, as if the creature understood the situation. The fawn limped toward him and he squat down to its level. The fawn nuzzled his hand and motioned toward the nymph, as if saying 'save her'. Shiro nodded opened the vial and held it over the nymph's mouth. He looked to the fawn one last time. It made a motion that looked as if she was nodding. With hesitation he poured the serum down into the nymph's mouth and pushed a point on her neck that caused her to swallow it. With tears brimming his eyes he looked to the fawn. She had already died with what seemed to be a smile. Shiro pick up her body and held it close. He had known the fawn for months now. He found the kid when it was still trying to stand. Ever since he had raised her, but unfortunately do to the pollution she got sick. He tried a earlier version of the vial on her but it didn't work. The one he brought today was designed for animals and would've been able to work on her, and she knew it too. He went to bury the baby fawn.
A lonely old man with incredible strength jumps from tree to tree through the forest. Though weakened from the rampant sickness and death, the old man's strength barely falters. He has lived in the forest all of his life, and still remembers his childhood days when the world was beautiful and life was a gift. He uses his long, twisted fingernails to latch on to the tree's bark and mighty leg muscles to lift his starving body to each tree. He spends his free time watching nymphs- he acknowledges the creepiness of this act but does it any way. Their ethereal beauty and devotion to nature are the only things that can distract him from the death that is the world. Besides, they rarely ever notice him watching. A grin forms on his face as he spots a lone nymph. His spirits sadden as he notices how sick she is. Out of no where a masculine presence came up to the nymph and forced something down her throat. Alarmed, the old man traveled some way down the tree he was currently observing on to get a better view. He knew by doing this he would have a greater risk of being spotted, but he was honestly concerned for the nymph's well being. The old man relaxed when he saw that the nymph's condition looked improved. The man had his back turned to the old man, but the old man could not tell what he was doing. A loud snap rang through the air when the branch the old man was perched on suddenly snapped, and he fell to the ground.
(Night peoples. Gotta wake up tommorow. I will reply tommorow.)
She was still coughing so she could not tell what came near her. She opened her eyes slightly and saw a deer and a human? The deer came to her and nuzzled her Arethisia wanted to thank her but she was unable too since all the coughing. For a brief moment the coughing stopped and she was able to get some airs into her lungs but everything hurt. She then felt something on her lips and it was some sort of object touching her lips. She shook her head and was trying to get up but she was too weak. The human was pouring something down her mouth and the liquid tasted horrible but it went down.
Then she heard a loud snap noise and flinched slightly. What was going on around her? Her vision was a bit hazy and she could not tell what was going on. She wanted to live and to do what she was born to do. She did not want to die here.. her mind was going crazy with thoughts and feelings and all she could do was breath. She focused on her breathing that is all she could do in this moment. She felt something collapse next to her and wondered if that was the deer. As soon as she got her breathing under control her eyes started gaining vision again. She looked around and saw the human who poured something into her mouth burying something. Then she looked over to where she heard the loud snap noise and saw a old human male. Then she remembered that she saw him before somewhere but she could not remember where. It most have been the crazy old human who lived in the forest. He never really bothered the nature and balance of the forest so she never noticed him as a threat and left him be. She turned her attention to the male who had maybe saved her? "Who...are...you?", she said in a weakened voice.

After burying the fawn. He turned to reply to the nymph. "My name is Shiro." He answered loud enough so that she could hear. He was still saddened that he lost his only friend. "Are you feeling better?" He turned to make eye contact with the nymph after marking the grave. "That serum I gave you should have helped. " he held out a hand for the old man.
(I'm going to be back in two hours. I have wrestling practice)
Blacklung had happened before, about a hundred years ago actually, the disease had a different name then but when it vanished mysteriously Doctor DePlur had just finished moaning the loss of his wife. "Rot Breathe, an air born illness that spread into the lungs and eventually infects the throat and nasal cavities towards the last week of life..." DePlur spoke aloud as he scribbled in his journal, "mouse four is reacting quite well after Cure C, yet the discoloration in the tongue and throat remain..." D'edward was a Necro-nomic Man who was working in the Alcemical Studio of a Mister Balthazar Goleth, the Necromancer who awakened D'edward from his eternal slumber to find a cure. "Mister Goleth, I'm going to need to go for another stroll into the outlying woods for some more plant samples..." The Dark elf coughed repeatedly as he looked up from his arcane book, shooing DePlur as if telling him to go.
The Necromancer could raise people from the dead, but not heal himself of Blacklung, a sad, yet ironic twist in fate. As for D'edward, he was a good man in life, and continued to do so in death. Not needing air to live, he strolled into the woods outside of Steamwood, a small Metal working town. The death in the air made him eerily feel at home but he was on a mission, cure this plague so the Necromancer would allow him to return to his ever-sleep...

The old man stared wide eyed at the nymph and the man named Shiro. He didn't know what to do, this was not supposed to happen. He smiled slowly trying to assure them he meant no harm and suddenly became self conscience of his rotting and missing teeth. He blushed and was relieved that they didn't seem bothered by his presence. He hadn't talk to anyone in years and was surprised that they had not yet treated him badly.
