It was not too deep in a forest that sat on the outskirts of a healthy green Shire where a hidden waterfall and lake lay hidden. Off to the right when facing it was a home fashioned of white marble like stone and glass. The trees over head shaded the home and the spots where the sun shone through made the glass walls shimmer like rainbow crystals. A silhouette moved behind drawn silk curtains, small in size and moving with natural grace. Well, graceful until the figure stumbled over something while in a daze. Picking itself up the figure moved towards the front of the home, wandering out the door. Now the figure was revealed to be a young girl with long straight jet black hair. The sun gleamed on skin so pale it was reminiscent of the Moon itself. The young girl had ears that came up into a point, peeking through her loose hair. Her name was Odette and she was but only fifteen, young and elven. Green eyes scanned the area before she bounced off like a child to the edge of the near by lake. Kneeling down she watched a toad hop along and after it got a few feet away she'd hop right after it. "Ribbit, ribbit! Wait for me Mr. Frog!" Her white dress trailed along in the mud as she hopped along squatted down, the edges getting caked in mud. "Ribbit, ribbit!"
A form moved behind the curtains after the girl had left the building. Emerging from the door stood a tall boy, only slightly older then the girl. He watched the girl hop after the frog with a smirk on his lips. His name was Turin, his white hair fell past his waist and his pointed ears poked from the shimmering locks. "Odette!" he exclaimed, "Don't touch that creature now, it's dirty and you'll get sick. Not to mention dirty..." he said the last part mostly to himself, having taken note of her dress getting dirty. His blue eyes scanned the forest as he looked away momentarily before following the girl to the lakeside to keep a closer eye on her. He brushed his black tunic and pants as he exited. Intending on staying clean. His pale skin shining in the sunlight
Odette looked back over her shoulder at her brother and smiled. This gave the toad enough time to hope away. Looking back to find the creature Odette frowned as it was now gone from sight. "Oh, Mr. Frog..." Standing up she turned and ran back, jumping up and hugging her brother. "You scared him away..." Loose black locks rested on her shoulders and in her face. Mud had stained the bottom of her dress and her bare feet were no filthy. The sun kissed her moon colored skin, making it glow in such a way that it was as if her skin was spun by the moon itself. Her head rested on his chest and her eyes closed, a smile crossing her lips and she listened to his heart beat. The gentle rhythm made her want to curl back up and go to sleep. Odette probably would have too, if it had not been so early in the day. She didn't want to leave home today but the girl knew they were running low on food. The thought terrified her really, so many people outside their little hide away.
Turin smiled, hugging his sister. Stroking her hair softly he kissed the top of her head "You still need to put on your shoes and get ready.. so we can go get more food" he petted her hair softly "Once we have enough food for awhile. We can stay home again for awhile" he nodded with a soft smile, leading the girl back to the home to get finished getting ready for their trip. He himself still needed to put on his pack and get the things to sell, trade, and use to get the supplies they needed to survive
Odette followed her brother, glancing back one last time to try and find the toad. Small delicate bare feet had to take two or three steps to keep up with one of her brothers step. "Ah, I want to see the horses again brother..." The girl ran towards her room to change out of the now muddy dress and to find her boots. On the way she stopped and looked into a room that was no longer used but looked like it was for a pair of adults. There was a sad look on her face for a moment as she paused, then after a moment she continued onto her room. Odette's room was very neatly kept, but that was probably because she was rarely in it. Odette kept close to Turin during the day and would usually crawl into his bed in the middle of the night. The girl had never been exposed to what most are that causes them to mature normally in their mental state. She was protected by her brother and knew little of the harsh world outside Turin's reach. Once in her room she dropped her white dress from her shoulders, letting it crumple to the floor at her feet. The girl took out a pair of leather breeches and a soft short sleeved suede tunic. Slipping on her clothes quickly she bounded over to the window like wall and pulled back the sheer curtain smiling. Picking up her boots, Odette stared a moment at her right ankle where there was a nasty scar then slipped the boots on and spun around on one foot grabbing a yellow hair ribbon off her dresser made from an old oak tree. Quickly Odette ran through the house and to her brothers room, jumping onto his bed and sitting there grinning as if to say I'm ready. Her hair was a strew and she was still holding onto her yellow ribbon.
Turin smiled, watching his sister run towards her room. "I'll buy an extra apple so you can feed one okay?" he smiled as he said this, as when she was happy he was. He strolled past her room entrance, his eyes glancing in on her as she changed. He told himself it was to make sure she was safe, but he wasn't sure of his feelings. He went into the kitchen, placing his pack on the table to make sure everything he needed was inside. afterward he walked into the larger bedroom. A solome look of sadness on his face as he picked up a small green stone, attached by silver wire to a leather cord from a desk. "I know you'd have wanted her to have it... Mother..." he said softly as he turned and walked into his room. Where he knew Odette sat, waiting for him to do her hair. he tucked the necklace into his pocket intending on it to be a surprise for her. He smiled seeing her sitting there with the ribbon. He always liked how she looked with the yellow one in her hair. He leaned down, hugging her before retrieving the brush from the desk. This wasn't a new occurrence so he was prepared. He sat down behind her on the bed, beginning to brush the tangles from her hair so it would become sheets of silky jet resting against her back. He made sure to be gentle about it as he did so, before smiling down at her "Odette, I have a surprise for you," He smiled as he spoke "Close your eyes Sister..." he said as he placed the brush down since her hair was free of tangles again
Odette smiled, loving the feeling of having her hair brushed by her big brother Turin. To her, her brother was her savior; Her Prince Charming. After their parents died, Turin took over raising her. When they were in danger of being separated, her brother stepped up and took on more responsibility then anyone his age should have to have. Odette knew it all, but didn't quite understand it. Why did her parents have to go? Why didn't they come back home? The girl snapped to when her brother spoke, nodding and smiling as she closed her green eyes. Now that her hair was untangled and tied with the yellow ribbon, a good portion of it rested on the bed. 'I wonder what the surprise is. Brother hasn't gone out without me...'
Turin smiled, bringing out the leather cord, with the green stone. It wasn't worth much, but the stone was polished to a sheen. the silver wire gracefully wrapped around the stone, attaching it to the cord. He reached around her, bringing the stone to rest softly against her chest, as he tied the cord behind her neck. Finishing he smiles speaking "Open your eyes now sister... This was mothers... She wanted you to have it." he smiled, making sure the bow was secure. the sides of it making her head seem even smaller as it stuck out and dangled. "I hope you like it" he said "Are your boots tied tightly?" he asked, tilting his head
Odette felt the cord being tied around her neck, the leather brushing against her sensitive skin making her shiver. Opening her eyes a rosy color came to her cheeks, the stone resting against her chest catching her eye. "This is---" Looking at her brother, her eyes full of happy wonder. "This is mommy's?" Odette smiled, looking back down at the stone on the necklace. It made her feel more grown up. She nodded and cheerfully replied to her brother's question. "Yes, nice and tight! Are there going to be a lot of people there again? It was scary, too many scary people..." Slipping of Taurin's bed she bounded across his room towards the door then spun around to look at him, hands behind her back. "I'll try not to cry this time, for you big brother!" Her hair rest over one shoulder, a lock of hair on either side of her face hung down. The hair that hung down never seemed to want to stay up with the rest.
Turin nodded smiling. His face suddenly becoming serious "You have to take care of it. Be strong for mother and father." he nodded again. He got up, kneeling in front of her, checking her boots, making sure she tied them correctly like he showed her. he smiled, looking her over, making sure she was ready. She had her belt with her pouches for her various goodies and needed things. He checked her necklace and ribbon again, making sure they weren't going to fall off. He nodded at her question "Lots of people. But if you're strong and remember I wont let anything hurt you dear sister" he smiled, hugging her tightly He smiled seeing her cheeks flush, brushing her hair back. He tapped her nose and chuckled "BE strong for me okay Odette?"
"I promise to be strong big brother!" The small girl nodded and rushed down the stairs and out into the forest once more. Pale delicate fingers brushed across the pendant against her chest every few seconds, just to make sure it was still there. The air was beginning to warm now with each passing minute, as the Sun was steadily climbing higher and higher into the sky. Odette disliked the sun greatly and avoided it when she could. She preferred the cool dark night and the beams of moonlight that cast shimmering pale reflections on the water. Things were much more peaceful during the night hours, much more safe in her eyes. Turning on one foot, Odette made sure that her brother was following behind her and that she didn't get too far ahead.

He smiled and followed her, a parasol closed in one hand in case she needed it. it wouldn't take them long to get to the market. Coming up to the gate he made sure he had ahold of her hand and led her from stall to stall. Avoiding crushes of people as he could. They eventually got to getting the things they needed; bread, apples, meat, and other such supplies. he made sure to look down at his sister every few minutes to make sure she was okay
