I don't think they're intending for Xianto to be killed, just his main power source. I'm sure we'll all be targeted at some point. It's already been hinted at with Edward.

Aelore is a different planet. Obviously, so who's to say that the time is exactly like earth's?, for all we know, the days could be longer yet we just think it's been a few days.
My theory is, the days are longer.
24 hours(Earth Time) = 2-3 days.
It's JUST a theory though.
