Pardon the opening messiness/vagueness of this idea, but I have some ideas for an RP that takes place in a literal dreamworld. Unfortunately, the ideas I have are scattered, and I'd appreciate some help from those interested in making this whole thing a little less nebulous before we dive in.

Here's what I've got so far:

• Characters are not physically present, but are instead in a dream world which their minds have, for some reason, been pulled to. This does not necessarily mean they are safe, as mind and body (and the health of each) can have affects on each other.
  
• The fact that this is a dream world is not immediately apparent. It all seems very real and has functional laws of physics which player characters cannot (at least starting out) manipulate. A perceptive character may somehow sense that something is wrong though.
  
• The dream world is cross-verse. For my personal taste, I strongly encourage separation from copywritten/commercial universes (basically anything that would be fan fiction), though that doesn't mean you can't use a character inspired by such, or possibly even intended for that world (the character itself must be of your own creation, though). The dream world may also account for various things for balance.
  
• This is likely to be a rather dark RP. While there will be the fancifulness of dreams, things can certainly turn nightmarish and this RP does have the potential to have an unpleasant ending based on ideas I currently have.
  
• I'm thinking I may take a semi-GM position rather than just an equal player. I'm not sure yet if I'd have a fully participating character, a guide/watcher-type character, or just cycle through NPCs as needed. At the same time, I'm not at all against others building up the story with alternate arcs, plot twists, etc. Note: I try not to be, but sometimes plot bunnies drive me to be kind of a jerk.
  
• This will mostly be a plot-driven, freeform thing. There is a possibility dice may occasionally come up, though. No worries if you're not familiar with using dice, I won't really be following any specific system anyway. (Unless everyone interested can also agree on a particular system and are willing to teach me.)
  
• I intend for this to be a group adventure, not just 1x1. There are certain people I may be biased toward, so if this gets a lot of attention, I will get choosy about people. If I don't pick you, it doesn't mean I think any less of you - more likely, you lost out to someone I'd just been wanting an excuse to play with for awhile, and I apologize for overlooking you.
  
• I'm flexible about where this is played. Could be in the public forums, could plop it in the Villains group for more privacy and fewer restrictions, or could go all the way to a big ol' group PM.

So... thoughts, questions, volunteers?

This sounds great! My only concern is the pace, I'm not online during the day as much as I used to be, but I'd do my best to keep up. What are your ideas so far? I imagine a plot along the lines of each OC being made to face their individual "worst nightmare" with the group,

I'd love to join! I share Lib's concerns, I'm slow so I'm hesitant about group RPs unless everyone is okay with a potential slow pace.

Well, speed seems to be the biggest point so far! Different folks have different thoughts about what counts as fast and slow, though.

Do we think we could manage at least one RP post every other day? Not one each, one total. I think that would be a good minimum to keep the RP from simply being forgotten, and any singular person wouldn't necessarily need to post more that something like once a week.

On the faster end, unless everyone was really into it and presently active, I personally am unlikely to post more than a couple times in a single day.

Overall, I'd expect the actual posting rate to be 1-3 total (not per person) RP posts on any given day.

As a side note, if needed, the fact that this is a dream world means that time and our characters' perception of time can be abused a little to help sequence events.

So! For those with questions about what characters to use, the only general suggestion I can offer is to use someone who is or who can easily become goal-oriented. What sort of goal is very open. There may be something or someone they're looking for. It may be that there's someone they'd do anything to protect. Whatever it is, just try to think of specific things that would motivate your character to act, as this can be useful for bringing this together.

I also encourage the use of characters with specific "issues." Special concerns, fears, weaknesses, etc. However, be forewarned: I will take special fears and weaknesses and such as invitations to use those things against you and your character. It may not come up, but it certainly may.
