Vincent flipped through the pages of an old book, more of a journal really, it was leather bound and was enchanted so only those who knew a specific magical sequence could open and read its contents. He stared intently at the words and illustrations that littered the pages, cross-examining them with some notes he had written off to the side as well as some ingredients that were scattered all across the table. He then began mixing said ingredients into a large bottle, occasionally laying down some enchantments to more properly mix the ingredients together; once he was finished and double checked his work, he nodded.
"Alright, this time for sure." Vincent stated with determination before turning around and placing he bottle in the center of a large Rune Circle he had drawn on the ground. He kneeled down and placed his hands on the very edge of the circle, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes, concentrating his Mana. Suddenly, the Rune Circle began glowing a bright blue, the contents of the bottle beginning to mix and morph erratically, changing from a liquid to a solid to a vapor and then back again. "Just a little bit more, come on, work!" Vincent cried as he increased his concentration, the brightness of the circle increasing with it. The contents in the bottle were fluctuating even more erratically, but it seemed to tend more towards being a solid, much to Vincent's relief. However, it was short lived, as the Rune Circle's color suddenly changed from blue to red, sparks of mana arcing from it as it increased in intensity. The mixture began to glow red as well, violently hitting the walls of the bottle until cracks started appearing on the surface. "Oh no..." Vincent said before ducking out of the way, the bottle exploding moments later in a bright flash of red. Vincent looked back at the mess before him, shards of glass littered the room and the mixture was splattered all over the floor, in its liquid state, he had failed.
"Damn it, I thought for sure Ghoul Bile and Witch's Blood would've worked just fine!" He said in frustration as he slumped back in his chair. This was the thirteenth time that Vincent had tried to create a Mana Crystal from his grandfather's notes, it was highly difficult transmutation that nobody had been able to do so far in all of Magical history, in fact his grandfather was the only one with even a plausible theory of how it could be done, but he passed away before he could ever implement it. Thus, Vincent took it upon himself to complete his grandfather's work, but no matter what he did he fell short, well, it wasn't exactly a mystery as to why he was failing, it was simply because he was missing an ingredient, one that despite its being only a minuscule fraction of what was needed, it seemed to be crucial in completely the concoction. Vincent sighed and looked back at his grandfather's journal, the final ingredient highlighted and written in big black letters:Breath of a Prime Vampire
"Yeah, where the heck am I supposed to get something like that?" Vincent said, it was true, Vampire Breath was an incredibly rare item due to how difficult it was to obtain, a long and drawn out ritual had to held, and that was only for a garden variety vampire. But a prime, forget about it, it was almost impossible, or at least nobody dared to ever try and restrain Prime Vampire for the ritual, it was suicide. So, Vincent had tried to replace the ingredient with others that he thought would have similar properties, but so far none of the worked. However, he wouldn't give up, Vincent picked himself up, put on his hoodie and walked out of his study, which was actually just an abandoned warehouse on the west side of town shielded from others with magic. "Oh well, back to square one." He said as he walked into town for more ingredients.

Sophie started her day like any other day. A small workout, than a shower and at last target practice. Before he father died he had taught her how to be the best assassin possible. The youngest assassin in her family...well was the youngest. Sophie was only 19 when a prime vampire killed her whole clan and changed her life forever. Now she was a vampire seeking revenge, the only problem was she didn't know where the prime vamp was. Killing him was not gonna be issue she had been following the vampire tracks for almost 3 years now, But the tracks stop here in this place. She shook her head she had to focus on her target practice. She looked through her scope trying to find a good target something not to easy. Out of the corner of her scope she saw a red glow coming from a warehouse. That was weird she thought, that looked like magic. Maybe that was the prime she had to investigate. She quickly got ready; two knives hidden at her side, a automatic in her purse along with four clips. She jumped across the rooftops avoiding the traffic in the streets. Finally she had made it to the warehouse, she ducked behind the building using her binoculars she looked into the Windows. Looked like an explosion happened inside but she couldn't see anyone inside. She would have to wait till he got back to be able to get a hit on him. She set her things and took inventory, she had a decent amount of weapons but she needed more. She quickly ran back to the apartment grabbing her family's assault rifle. She ran back to the building across the street from the warehouse she set up and waited for someone arrive.
Vincent looked through his newly purchased ingredients, he had restocked on all of the items necessary to make the concoction as well as some new ingredients in order to replace the Prime Vampire Breath.
"Greek Mist, Daemon Heart, Mummy Tongue, Undead Ashes, some combination of these has got to give the same results as Prime Vampire Breath, the only question is what combination and how much of each should I be using." He mused to himself as he walked through the streets of the town. It was still relatively early so there weren't many people on the streets, Vincent actually pulled an all-nighter working on making that Mana Crystal, with absolutely nothing to show for it, but he refused to give up, even if he had to get out there and actually bag himself a Prime Vampire. As he approached the wear house, he noticed that a white Rune Circle had appeared on the entrance, warning him that somebody had been snooping around, and was still there. Vincent gasped lightly but quickly regained his composure and placed his hand on the Rune Circle, causing it to expand and show him an image of the trespasser, as well as displaying her location. He was surprised to find a girl no older then he was setting up a sniper perch on the building next door, though she didn't seem to notice that he had become aware of her existence yet.
"Crap, guess word got out." Vincent cursed under his breath. Truth be told his grandfather was a very famous and well renowned Archmage, but he was also a rather secretive man, he tended to keep his research under tight wraps and Vincent was the only one capable of looking into his sealed off notes, so he figured people would try to steal said notes from him. Vincent stood still for a moment, taking a deep breath as he prepared a magic sequence in his mind and began altering his Mana appropriately, once all of his preparation was complete, he quickly shot his hand out towards the building Sophie was in, a Rune Circle appearing both over his hand and where Sophie stood, chains of Mana appearing through it and moving to trap her.

Sophie tried to keep her eyes open but this was so boring. No one had shown up yet which meant no one to kill. She began to nod off again but quickly picked her head up. She once more looked the scope no one again. She laid against the wall and grabbed out her dagger. She started playing with it trying to entertain herself so she wouldn't fall asleep. Her eyes grew heavy her head hit the wall and like that she was sleep.

She stayed as still as possible fearing if she moved she would be killed. The only thing she could do is scream for help maybe if she used she seduction vampire powers whoever trapped her would come release her, she took a deep focusing all of her energy in her voice. "Please help me! We can talk about this" she screamed
"Yes, got her! Well that was easy." Vincent said, seeing that his binding spell was successful. "Alright now, let's see what we..." He began, but just then the sound of Sophie's voice reached his eardrums, stopping him dead in his tracks. His face went blank, staring in the direction where the voice was coming from, an intrigued and almost longing look in his eyes. He dropped his bag of ingredients and began walking towards the building, but after taking a few steps, he suddenly came back to his senses, as he felt his Mana wavering on his bind spell. Once he snapped out of it, he shook his head to clear his thoughts.
"H-huh, what the...?" Vincent said in confusion, rubbing his head. That was a rather strange sensation, the voice was clearly coming from the captured girl in the building, but he heard it as if she were whispering softly in his ear. From there his mind just went blank and he just couldn't help but be drawn to the voice, if it weren't for his intense Mana conditioning, he would've probably let the binding despell and let the lady go. "Was that... some sort of mind control?" Vincent wondered to himself and began thinking of different possibilities. It obviously wasn't the work of a spell, he didn't sense any Mana flow to suggest casting, and there no Rune Circle either, so that left either a magical item or a natural ability from a supernatural creature. "Alright, time to get to the bottom of this." He said as he cast a general protection spell on himself before entering the building and confronting the spy.
"Alright, what's the big idea, who are you and what are you doing here?" He interrogated Sophie, standing a good few feet away from her just in case.

sophie tried to remain perfectly still she even slowed her breathing. She looked at the man who stood in front in front of her. He looked normal, no he was certainly not a vampire. This was gonna be to easy she thought all she had to do was use her vampire powers. She closed her eyes for a second trying to focus her power again. When her eyes reopen there were a deep dark red color. "Help me please" she said in a sweet innocent voice "I'm trapped". She wears a black skin tight leather suit with black boots and gloves.
"I was just sitting up here alone and I saw this bright light" she whimpers "please sir I need your help".
"I was just sitting up here alone and I saw this bright light" she whimpers "please sir I need your help".
Vincent felt his heart waver again at the sound of her voice, it was so soft and smooth like silk, and again if felt like she was whispering right into his ear, he could practically feel the breath on his ear. However, the spell he had placed on himself quickly counteracted the effect, or at least as best as it could, he was still left with a strange... arousal, evidenced by the light blush on his cheeks, but then again that could just be because of how physically attractive the girl was in the first place. He shook his head to clear his thoughts before proceeding to interrogate his captive.
"Yeah I know you need help, I'm the one who trapped you." Vincent replied. "And you can stop playing innocent, you are clearly armed and were waiting to ambush me, the question is why?"

Who the hell was this guy she thought. No human had ever told her no before, but he didn't smell like a vampire. She was puzzled, she couldn't be honest with him about who she was. "What are you?" She asks. Her powers weren't gonna work so she didn't even try to act innocent. "I mean who are you?" She says quickly "your a human just like me silly question". what was she gonna say, she can't just tell him the truth she thought. But but she could tell him tell him everything else she smiled at that thought. "I'm looking for a man named Cerberus Daray. He's wanted for the murder of a family of six" she looks down "I've been looking for him for awhile, I saw some flashing light and I thought it might be him so I set up on this roof" she looks at him "any information would be helpful"
"Cerberus Daray?" Vincent said with a puzzled look on his face, the name sounded strange and unfamiliar to him, he certainly haven't heard or come into contact with anyone by that name before. "Sorry, can't help you there, I've never heard of anyone by that name." He replied, crossing his arms, still very suspicious of this girl.
"More importantly, what exactly aren't you telling me?" He continued to interrogate. "I can tell that you're not a Mage, but you were still able to use some form of Supernatural ability, so what are you, a nymph, a siren, some sort of fay... or maybe a Vampire?"

Sophie laughs a little and looks back at him and bats her eyes. "It's called being an attractive young woman" she smiles "can you please let me out, I'm kinda scared to move". She couldn't give up her secret, the last person she told thought she was nuts and laughed in her face. Wait did he just say he was a Mage?? She thought, I thought they all died out. Maybe this was a good thing he might be able to help her. "A Mage?" She said "I didn't think there were any of you left". Her father would tell her stories of these so called mages, they didn't really care for vamps. Telling him was out of the question, she heard her stomach growl she only had one cup of blood and that was this morning at was already getting dark. "Please let me out I think we can help each other out" Sophie begged to be released.
"We try to keep to ourselves now a days, the Salem Witch Trials made it a little... difficult to practice out in the open." Vincent admitted, it was true, ever since Salem the Psijic Order became much more strict in enforcing the secrecy of magic and the regulation of its practice, until eventually Mages just became a fairy tale, along with most other aspects of the Magical World.
"Look, I know you're some sort of magical creature, there's no other way you could pull off that weird "Voice of Influence" before, so unless you tell me the truth I have no reason to trust anything you say." Vincent insisted sternly, he didn't like being played for a fool, and he sure as hell not going to let this girl go before he knew exactly what he was dealing with.

Vincent insisted sternly, he didn't like being played for a fool, and he sure as hell not going to let this girl go before he knew exactly what he was dealing with.
"I'm a...vampire" she says under her voice. God damn he knew he was going to stake her. No one likes vampires no one! "Look please let me go I haven't anything to eat in a while" she closes her eyes "I'm so tried" her finger touched the cold blade that she kept hidden. She look at the stranger, he didn't look to hard to take down but that magic was gonna be hard to get by. "I'm a VAMPIRE" she said loudly. She would have to run, the second he releases her she gonna make a run for it, hopefully he won't be able to track her.
"...W-wait, you're seriously... a vampire?" Vincent said with an obviously shaky voice. Vampires were rather infamous in the magical world, creatures whose only real means of survival was the killing of humans and devouring their blood, as such coexistence with them was a difficult task, one that may never come to fruition. Vincent tried to calm down, his face remained stoic, but his body was shaking with fear, he had never met an actual vampire before, and even with his magic vampires were considered very dangerous opponents due to their superior physical abilities.
'Ok, calm down Vincent, she can't hurt you as long as she's restrained." He thought to himself. 'Alright, options; I can kill her right now just to be safe, but..." Vincent knew that option was out of the question, sure this girl had most likely killed humans before, and some would say that was justification to kill just kill her and be done with it, but he was always taught not to treat any creature as pure evil, and that included vampires, despite their gruesome nature. Vincent let out a sigh and then kneeled down to Sophie.
"Listen, if you were seriously not trying to hurt me... then I'm willing to let you go, but only if I have your word that you won't try to stab me in the back or something as soon as I do. I let you go, we go our separate ways, and just pretend this whole thing never happened, deal?" Vincent's voice seemed a lot less firm and intimidating then it was before, it seemed almost comforting even.

"Not many vampires these days most of them are in hiding" she rolls her eyes "what monsters!". He didn't seem like he's was going to hurt her, maybe he was ok she thought as she moved her hand away from her blade. He might actually be able to help her, plus he was going to let her go without putting a stake into her heart. "Deal, just get me out of here so I can get some dinner". She could almost smell the bloody stake just waiting for her to come home. Sophie didn't kill humans for blood she just eats raw meat that she buys from the store. She shook her head thinking about food only made her more hungry. "Hey friend how about after to get me out of here we go back to mine place for some stakes?" She smiled softly "it's the least I can do since you didn't stab me in my chest"
(Sorry for the delay, Thanksgiving and all)
"Steaks...?" Vincent said quizzically at the offer. However, a moment later he let out a light chuckle, he remembered that many vampires who wished to remain hidden usually turned to eating raw meat that still contained blood; suddenly he felt a lot more at ease about letting Sophie go, and truth be told he was so busy working that he had skipped a few meals, and it was just now that he realized that he was starving.
"Sure, steaks sound pretty good right now." Vincent said before despelling the chains, freeing Sophie. "I'm Vincent by the way." He introduced himself.

Sophie stands and puts a hand over her heart. "I almost felt my heart beat!" Without a second thought she reached down and pulled out a black book and writes down the date "do you happen to know what time it is?" She asked "I've been doing some research and testing in hopes to find a cure for vampirism" she stands up after packing her stuff. She stands up and holds out her hand. "I'm Sophie knight" her smile is soft and her eyes are bright red "nice to meet you"
"Oh yeah, it's... almost noon." Vincent said as he peaked at his watch. Just then however, he realized what Sophie had just said. "...Wait, cure vampirism!?" He exclaimed, shocked by the claim. Vampirism was an infliction that has lasted for as long as recorded history, nobody really knew where the disease comes from, only that it originates from Prime Vampires, those that were born Vampires and whose ancestors were never once human. That being said, the study of vampirism is an ancient field, and not once has anyone ever found a cure, not even the greatest Mages in all of history ever came close... which just made it all the more fun to try.
"Wow, that's... wow, that's quite the project." Vincent said with an interested and excited smile. "What's your data looking like so far?"
"Wow, that's... wow, that's quite the project." Vincent said with an interested and excited smile. "What's your data looking like so far?"
Sophie checked her pluse and wrote that down in the notebook, without thinking Sophie bit her finger and collected a few drops of blood in a container. Sophie knew that there wasn't a cure for vampirism, but every now and than she would feel her heart beat. As long as she still felt that she would never stop trying. "So far everytime I feel in danger my pulse raises" she put her stuff back in the bag and got it on her back "as you probably already know that's pretty impossible for a vampire" she said "are you ready to go?" She asked "I need to look at this blood sample as soon as possible" she pointed to another building not to far away "I'm staying there so it shouldn't take to long"
"Pulse raises huh, that is pretty unusual for a Vampire, but not impossible." Vincent replied thoughtfully. "There have been cases where humans with a certain degree of immunity, or at least resilience, to vampirism still retain some semblance of living functions, such as a pulse, that being said people with those kinds of conditions are the most likely to be cured if it is even possible." He ranted, Vincent tended to take things he was interested in and just run with them, to the point where he had forgotten their plans to eat... that is until his stomach let out a loud growl.
"Uh, yeah, let's get going, I'm starving."
"Uh, yeah, let's get going, I'm starving."
