I had this same thought. It feels like it happened 3 months ago, tops, it's still so fresh in my mind.

They've done a great deal of recovery in only a year. So much tragedy and pain, and even some true sacrifice, has befallen the people of Japan. It's wonderful to see things in some sense of normalcy there. It's a testament to the will of the people.
