Yes! Good to see you back, Hero!

Ah, yeah, the call to adventure is all because of Petra who wants to go see her parents in Grandiel! The first step is get a permit to leave the city or, failing that, leave illegally and have no papers. Probably all 3 of em will sign up for the adventurer's guild or something like that so they have a business permit that lets em travel to the next city.

Rayle can actually probably help get the papers, probably knows a guy in the guild. Petra wants to see parents, Rayle wants to get away, Bowie wants to prove himself, Chester is probably up for the adventure of it.

at least form what I know of the characters so far.

O: what if the organization they need to join to travel crosscountry is a commoner sub-organization that serves the Holy Order the cultists control? :00 kinda like an organization of yeomen, squires, sergeants, and men-at-arms.

Ahhhy I'm also excited to make up a Jacques de Molay type of grandmaster for that organization, the leader of the group that believes wholeheartedly in the Order's ideals but is woefully ignorant of the cultists really running the show. But that's getting ahead of myself xD

Chester just wants to keep Petra and Bowie alive, and help em achieve what they want in life. He would enjoy the adventure, yeah, but it wouldn't be enough to motivate him, just icing on the cake. Maybe as time goes on and he drinks in new sights and experiences the sublime beauty of the earth, he develops that love of adventure, but not quite yet xD he's not optimistic enough to have a dream iz all.

But yeah, hmm rather than being a connection, maybe your guy is undergoing training within the official order, being treated like a nobleborn because of his father's riches. He's supposed to be knighted within the year, but has to undergo some sort of rite of passage first?

He's maybe been away at some squiredom with the neighboring Lord, who conducted the experiments on him too in exchange for being a priority in the ether trade. Now he's about to graduate and returns to Puck to say goodbye to his father, and plans to travel to Grandiel afterwards to undergo some rite of passage. Through some twist of fate, he decides to help the three characters get approval to leave Puck in exchange for... hmm, what would he get out of it? And why these three?

Hmm maybe he wants to travel independent of his father's riches, and helps the 3 get their papers in exchange for travelling with them? That'd involve both running away and possible future plot points of the father trying to find him, or calling the three of us kidnappers lol.

...the right of passage could be the ether infusion... that or at first he was intrigued by the society it is and wanted to rise the ranks...but maybe saw something sinister ... a letter, a killing... a beast even being done/transported with his fathers seal on it. That could be when he decides to leave... and he knows with his condition it might be difficult to travel alone, so he decides to go with the first group he can find which happens to be you three. He acts as if he is still part of the organization but is now worried and hoping to get to the bottom of whatever is happening (giving him more motivation than just getting away)

also, i look forward to writing for a villain...maybe the Moriaty-esque leader of the cultists...not actually believing a word of his own message...using everyone for his own goals. The one running the show from the shadows... perhaps even meeting him early on without knowing.

Only thing is, everyone else is starting off with rather "mundane" quests, even slice of life types of things. They're seeking out family, honor, friendship. It'd fit the cast better to have a similar "mundane" quest for your character when he joins, then use his family and role as a bridge into that whole cultist plot.

Perhaps he has some inkling of corruption within the order, but his primary motivator being to have that "set off on your own" sort of thing. Trying to test oneself against the world, like a Beaumains (Arthurian Myth) type self-imposition. I mean, this way he'd probably clash less with the initial quest of reuiniting Petra, too, at least until it's confirmed that his father's a cultist and he feels the need to seek out the truth there. Plus, otherwise we'd have to figure out why he wants to go to Grandiel in the first place, why he wouldn't just spy on his father by remaining next to him, etc. What leads he has, etc etc.

But that's just my thoughts on the matter. x) You have the final say, Rayle being your character!

Yeah probably wanting to test himself, and maybe has fears about his dad... intuitive but unconfirmed. I agree building into something further will be much more interesting and fit a lot better with the rest of the cast! As far as wanting to go to Grandiel maybe he is going through with his test but just has his doubts and worries.

It could make sense than still wanting to travel to that part of the world for the test and prove himself...while getting away from the experimentation, that would allow him to be more involved with the others sooner as well.

Sure, I'll work on it tommorow probably and in the time it takes to re/gather people I can finish up one of the other projects I've been working on in the mean time! Wish sees this she can always send a pm to one of us as well!
