Whir...Clank. The sounds signified the entrance of yet another subject to a white room filled with many chairs and long canteen tables. The walls were padded, with stains of red that were impossible to scrub out. The floor smelled of bleach, and everywhere you could hear the nervous tittering of people scantily clad in a simple gown of white. Some people had some stains on their gown, but not a certain man with bandages wrapped around his entire chest and arms. He was completely clean, and nothing seemed to be able to cling to him other than his bandages that covered both of his arms.
However, people say that he was here the longest, which makes it surprising that he could keep clean for so long. They also the very first subject that the Organization had experimented on, though nobody knew whether or not it was successful. He shuffled around miserably and made no contact with others. It seemed as if he was already brainwashed, because of his lack of communication with others. Was he one of them? No one knew, but they all believed that he was.
However, a small minority believes that he is simply waiting for the opportunity to wreck havoc on the Organization. A preposterous sentiment, for the last uprising from the subjects led to harsh repercussions that were too horrible to put into words. All that could be said of the previous rebels was that they were no longer physically in this world. Judgement was swift and harsh, and nobody dared defy authority.
Hoping was futile, for nobody knew of the monstrosities of the Organization. Most resignedly accepted their fates. Some still held on to the bleak chances that somehow they would be saved.
But one person was about to put his plan into action.

Once she entered the cafeteria, she looked around, her eyes are dead and her face showing no emotion. The sounds the other subjects made were inhanced, and they were driving her crazy. She was already close to becoming one of the organizations puppets as it is, she didn't need anything setting her off. She shuffles over to one of the chairs and sits down, clutching the sides of her head with her hands, trying to block out the noise.
She looks for anything that might distract her. After looking around she sees the tray of goop in front of her. She picks up her spoon, and just as she's about to eat, she notices the spoon was red. Wait, that's not right...she looked closer to see her reflection in the spoon, her gown was stained red. She had a bandage over her right eye, and upon further investigation she notices how the blood was fresh. She slowly and almost robotic ally lowers the collar of her gown to reveal fresh stitches and bandages going from her shoulder down to her hip.
She doesn't do anything more than just stare at it before letting go of her collar and eating, letting her hair fall in front of her face and keeping her head lowered.

He gets up as the new girl came in, the security cameras observing her. It seemed that the ones watching have finally lost interest in him. He gets up and picks up his plate, walking over to the newcomer. This way the cameras would be most focused on the two of them, for he knew two important facts.
1. The cameras usually prioritized newcomers that entered the room
2. The cameras always detect movement
Where she sat was also convenient for multiple reasons that he did not divulge. He sat down and offered some of his gunk to her as a token.
"Hello there. Today is quite a bleary day, isn't it?"
Not only were the eyes of the security cameras were on him, but the eyes of everybody inside the room were trained on him as well, for this was the first time he had reached out, much less spoken.

She looks up at him and raises an eyebrow. She looks at him, then down at the gunk, then back up at him. She pushes the gunk back over to him. She was pushing herself to finish off her plate as it is.
"Yes...it is...." she says, keeping her head level to the table and her eyes trained downward.
"You should eat...." she says again, her voice just barley above a whisper as she finishes off her tray. When she's done she pushes It off to the side and rests her elbows on the table, placing her hands back onto the sides of her head.

"I have not eaten for a month, because if I die I'd rather not die so messily. I'm rather weak, anyways, so eating won't do me any good. However, someone as skinny as you could use the energy. You look like you're going to keel over any second from starvation or something."
Or perhaps she was starved of something else? His eyes scan her. Unlike the others, she did not seem to seek attention. A gut feeling told him that she would prove essential in the coming events that he has planned out.

She closes her eyes and shakes her head. Her eyes just went duller than before and her face even more expressionless (if that was possible)
"You've had nothing to eat in a month, and yet you act like im the one whos underfed...." she says in a monotone voice.
"It's not the food.....the crowd won't be silent...." she says, her grip around the sides of her head tightening and her body getting more tense. She looks up at him with her eyes, keeping her face parallel to the table, and her hair falling in front of her face.
"Why are you talking to me....everyone knows your silent and never speak to anyone...everyone assumed your one of the brainwashed..."

"Well, the crowd is bleak and boring. They're all like me. But someone like you, with such a...flawless...complexion seems out of place here. You sure you didn't make a wrong turn at the crossroad between a palace and this facility?"
He glanced at the clock. It was almost time.
"Say, you've perked my interest..."
Bei'Ai looked around at the people and leaned closer to her and spoke in a barely audible whisper.
"What do you think about escaping this compound?"

Her eyes go wide as she studies him carefully, a look of shock written on her face. It didn't look like he was lying, but then again other people have tried in the past, and look how they ended up. Her face goes back to being expressionless as she glares at him.
"Saying things like that isn't funny you know....you've Been here longer than anyone, so you know what happened to the last people who tried to escape...besides....even if we leave, their control over us won't go away...we'd still be at their mercy..."

He shook his head, then gave her a small sly smile.
"Certainly, they have immense power over us. But they have grown complacent."
Suddenly, alarms go off and iron shutters close down around them, cutting off any means of escape. He quickly dashes to a counter with many forks and grabs as many as he can, returning to her.
"Do me a solid, please? Hold onto these forks until the next time we meet, and make sure that they don't see you with the forks. They can't see us right now unless they open the shutters, since the cameras are disabled, so use your time to get into the camera's blind spot."
He points to a corner of the cafeteria.

Her eyes go wide as she stares at him and then the forks. She didn't have much time to think, but she stood up and grabbed the forks with one of her hands.
"Fine...."
she says, jumping over the table. She was so fast and graceful it was almost like she was flying. She runs into the corners blind spot and looks around her, noticing there wasn't anywhere she could hide them.she looks down at herself and just stares as she turns around, and hides the forks behind her bandages under her gown before turning back around.
"Why is the alarm going off...who have they decided to experiment on this time..."

“Well, they were about to experiment on someone, but I timed it so that the cameras would malfunction right before. It’s only to give mercy to some fortunate soul that was about to be turned into one of us. They should be here any second. Just look scared and you’ll fit in with the rest. When the guards come just point at me.”
He ran towards a table, slowly gaining momentum as he jumped onto the table, going into a sprint and launching off of it in a soaring arc. His hands outstretched, he latched onto one of the hanging security cameras and wrenched it straight off. Continuing on his rampage, he continued to pull out the devices, wires and all straight from the ceiling, making a complete mess amidst the chaos. With the last one hitting the ground with a crash, he clapped his hands together in satisfaction.
“Well, that ought to make sure that they won’t be able to look in the canteen for a good couple of days. Anyways, I suppose we’ll be meeting later. That is, if they haven’t decided to finally put me down by then. After all, I’d certainly love to keep in touch with you. After all, you’re quite enchanting to me.”
Just then, the shutters shoot up and behind them stood guards in black uniform. Each of them carried a tranquilizer, and looked very trigger happy. They look around and see all the broken equipment on the ground, and they obviously fall for it and get it through their thick skulls that the alarm was set off because of a person wrecking havoc. One of them goes to the front of the group and shouts,
“Who is responsible for this huge mess?”

She glances over at him before looking at the guards. She wasn't like the rest of them, she wasn't afraid, and she wasn't going to let someone else get hurt if she could help it. She looks at him and the expression on her face said "stay out of the way and keep your mouth shut" before walking to the front of the group, standing face to face with the guards.
"That would be me. Considering what you've done to everyone here, it's a small price to pay. Wouldn't you agree?"
She says, her voice still monotone and her eyes go from their normal bright blue to pitch black, the same color as a crows eyes.

His face fell immediately. What in the world was she doing? He needed those forks and he couldn't possibly allow them to confiscate the forks she had hidden. Change of plans. He feigned cowardice and ignorance to pretend he was trying to pass off the blame to another.
"Y-Yeah, it was definitely her! I-I couldn't have done any of this. I mean, I'm really weak!"
With the spot on acting of Bei'Ai and the majority of the fingers directing at him, the guards did not take long to shift their gaze from the girl to him. The guard that had spoken breathed down his back.
"So you're causing the trouble again, aren't you? You think you get some sort of special privilege just because you used to work for us huh?"
The guard slammed the butt of the gun down Bei'Ai's head, causing him to crumple up on the floor. He spat on the man curled in fetal position and motioned for the guards to take him away. With a heft, one of them grab him by his feet and drag him towards the entrance, the other guards already leaving. Bei'Ai opened one eye, and he subtly shook his head. He muttered under his breath.
"I'm sorry but that just won't do, not when you're carrying my special cargo. You can't just do something that brazenly and expect no repurcussions."
With that they were gone. Immediately the cafeteria was filled with chatter, and people murmuring about how much of a loser the one who had just left was. With what he just did, anybody would have thought he was scum.

Her eyes widen even more, flickering from black to blue before going back to normal. What if he really WAS trying to escape? Why was he so fascinated with her in the first place?? She define try owed him one. Her expression goes back to normal as she walks up to the door and it straps her in, shimmying down the cables and taking her back to her padded cell. She grabs one of the forks and makes a small tear in the padding.
"This should work as a hiding place for now..."
she says before grabbing all the forks out of her bandages and stuffing them inside the hole. She looks back down at herself to see blood seeping onto her gown.
"What..."
She mumbles to herself before taking the gown off and undoing the bandages, only to find that the forks had caused her wounds to open. She puts her back to the wall and slides down, smiling.
"Looks like they won't make much progress off of me for awhile...that is...unless they decide to fix me...be honest with yourself...your just a number in the system..."
She says to herself before closing her eyes.

They would meet three days later, this time in the fitness center. He would be waiting for her in a corner of the room, watching the others work out intensely. The only difference this time was that he was covered in a lot more bandages than before and he had darker marks under his eye. His eyes would light up as he sees her enter the room, and would motion her over.
Three days later she walks into the fitness room. She looks around and sees the man from a few days ago. She walks over to the corner he was in, that same expressionless face and the same dead eyes.
"I never got your name..."
She says as monotone as ever. She notices the increase in bandages on his body as her hand touches one of them, her eyes scanning them.
"You didn't have to do that..."

He waved it off.
"They call me #0001 around here, but you can call me by my real name Bei'Ai. And you? I wasn't able to properly hold a conversation with you because my plan had been slightly jeopardized by some...Minor factors."
He couldn't bring himself to tell her had she revealed that she was holding the forks, they may have searched for more forks and eventually find the hoard he had been stashing. They could abuse him how they liked, but he would get the last laugh at least.
"It had to be done. I wouldn't forgive myself if I let someone like you get hurt. Perhaps you'll see me as sexist, but I prefer to coin the term chivalrous."
He motioned to a compartment box on the other side of the room.
"When you find the time, please put the forks into my compartment. It shouldn't be hard, it's labeled as #0001. But for now, I guess I can indulge a bit in some nice chit chat with you. So, for starters...Why're you looking so down?"
He had a feeling that she probably went through some deep stuff, but he repressed his pessimistic views, hoping that perhaps it wasn't as he predicted.

"My name is raven."
She says brushing some of the hair out of her face.
"What do you mean by someone like me??"
She says looking him over, trying to see of there was something she could do to help his weakened condition.
"And as for "being down", I'm not. I used to be outgoing, always spoke my mind, dominant if I had to be, and didn't like being controlled. So when I ended up here, it was no surprise I put up a fight when they tried to inject me with the animal gene. However, I became to much for them to handle, and he injected me with something that shut down my personality. I've not been myself since he injected me with....whatever it was. I'm more quiet and reserved and like keeping to myself. I don't trust others and I prefer to be alone, and now I'm willing to do most things people tell me to do. So it's not me, it's the drug."
She says keeping her head and eyes parallel to the floor the entire time.

“What I meant by someone like you...Hm...I can’t quite place it myself. So...Raven, I’m guessing that they ironically inserted you with the genes of a raven?”
Or perhaps they did even worse and injected her with a crow’s DNA. That would be some dark humor within itself.
“I’m guessing what they injected into you was the Neural Serum. It inhibits your personality and basically wipes you clean of what made you YOU. It’s designed to wear off after a while, trust me. Just keep your guard up and don’t let your primal urges kick in, or else you’re gone. Once you’re gone, you’re gone forever. Actually, perhaps before we delve deeper into this whole sneaky business we’re up to, I need to know whether or not you trust me. And don’t ask vice versa, because if I didn’t trust you, I would never have made you an accomplice.”

She shakes her head and looks him in the eyes.
"Not a ravens DNA, but a crows."
She says, fidgeting with her hands. She thinks back to the day she had been injected and shakes her head again.
"Trust me. This won't wear off. He said that it normally does, but again, I was becoming too much of a problem. He was afraid that once it wore off I would try to escape, so he made some modifications to it so that it would last up until the day I do lose myself..."
She lifts her head up to look at him this time.
"If I didn't trust you I wouldn't have hidden the forks in the padding of my room, would i?? But you said something very interesting just now. What do you mean by primal urges?? What's considered a primal urge? And what happens to you once your gone?"
