"Are you now? I'm afraid I've never heard of you myself, but my knowledge of mercenaries is rather lacking." He said, making no mention of the "strange" comment since it was one of the few he heard regularly. Stuffing the last thing that had fallen into his pack, the placed his gauntlets on top before closing it again. "If you're planning to follow along regardless, the carriage we're going to be using will have an insignia on the side. Should be easy enough to keep track of. Best of luck, Mary-Sue. May the Gods guide your path." He told her, making a point not to mention which particular Gods he was praying for, before turning and heading back to the castle.
Once his back was to her, he gave a quiet, frustrated sigh. Nothing was going right at all. Political nonsense, upper-class employers, playing bodyguard to some rich girl, this things spilling onto the ground and possibly breaking since he couldn't check with the Mary-Sue nearby, and now a mercenary that didn't want to get senseless revenge. Still, if she followed along, he might be able to use that to his advantage.

The end of the day came much sooner than expected for Garrick, though he welcomed it. It had been a fairly long day. In total, Garrick and Aki had talked to about 20 different mercenaries, not including the original 4 though, but he had only hired a total of 10 mercenaries. He of course was going to send some of his own guards along with them, but he had wanted a few more experienced has to go with his daughter and the diplomat.
Garrick sighed as he pushed himself out of the chair he had been sitting in all day and then waved over a few of his servants. He had them fetch all of the hired hands before he made his way to the dinning hall where he would meet up with all of them. Aki followed Garrick to the dining hall and sat down next to him as they awaited their company for the evening. He had one of his most trusted guards go off and fetch the money for each of the persons though, so at the end of dinner he could pass out their first payment.
He waited to have dinner brought out for everyone until all the people were present in his home, though he didn't hold the servants back from pouring a glass of water and ale at each seat. There was also wine on hand but that was more expensive so he wasn't going to pour a cup that wasn't going to be touched.
(seeing as we only have 6 people in the rp, one of whom isn't going on the trip and two who aren't guards, feel free to claim another mercenary character if you wish. I'm going to claim one of the spots so most of the mercenaries aren't random people who don't matter. ]

( I got another character I can toss in if you want... Artair Tytler, he's a high lander.)
It's up to you and if you want to play two characters. If you would prefer not to that's fine too. Honestly I was just throwing the idea out encase someone wanted to. ))
(Not a problem at all. I'm going to post as Trevor if it's both or just Trevor, but if it's just Artair then I will use Artair)
Trevor walked into the room, still wearing his armour and weapons. "Huh, is it time to eat sir?" Trevor asked looking around

Catelyn came down from her room where she had been for a while. She had grown tired of the interviews and decided to go upstairs and practice her embroidery and piano. She walked into the dining room and towards her father, giving him a slight kiss on the cheek as she reaches him, then sits at her place at the table.
Trevor set down his shield, claymore, and spear against the wall behind his chair, and placed his helmet on the end of the spear. He then sat down and took a sip from his water.
Artair came in, both Trevor and Artair locked eyes for a second, then nodded, and went back to what they were doing. Artair placed his claymore on the back of the chair and sat down, then took the mug of booze and started to drink it. after a few gulps, he removed his lips from it, and turned to Garrick "I'd like to thank you once again for taking me on for this job, me lord." Artair said in an Scottish accent. He wore a dark blue vest and dark blue and black plaid kilt. He had a chain mail shirt under the vest, and steel arm and shin guards. He had dark short brown hair and brown eyes.

(Think I'll lob in another character too then. Could be fun... and a way to annoy Lias further. Like Berserker, I'll probably just use one (Lias) most of the time instead of jumping back and forth. With the exception of her little intro.)
Humming as he strolled into the dining room, Lias still had his recovered pack hanging over his shoulder. He'd since checked the contents and found his things still intact, but felt uneasy about leaving it out of his sight for long. If anyone got nosy and saw certain things he kept in it, questions would probably be raised. Followed by weapons and blood afterwards. Here wasn't the best place for any of that.
"Good Evening my Lords and Ladies." He said cheerfully, taking a seat at the table and setting his bag on the floor between his feet. Picking up his water, he went to take a drink but hesitated when it was an inch from his mouth. Something smelled... odd. Wondering for a moment if it might be poisoned, someone dropped into the chair on his right and the odor grew a little stronger. Looking at the individual in the chair, he stared for a moment before a frown crossed his face. That explained the smell, though for some reason it wasn't nearly as pungent as the last time they'd met.
"My goodness, they actually hired you but turned Mary-Sue away? I can't even begin to describe how crazy that is." He said quietly.

The Kobold stalked into the dining room, an unhappy look on her face. She'd managed to get the job, somehow, but the conditions that went along with it annoyed her to no end. Most notably having to bathe and be groomed like some human noble's house-pet. Softened fur, most of her normal scent gone... it made her sick. They'd even washed her clothes. Damned upper-class and their obsessions with cleanliness.
Heading for the nearest chair, Rosetta dropped onto it and looked at the table uncomfortably. The fanciest place she'd ate at before was a friend of a friend's house, which was middle class at best. Keeping her mouth shut was probably the best thing to do, she didn't understand what she said to set off common humans most of the time, these kinds seemed to be even more sensitive. That was that. Speak to nobody. Easy. At least that's what she thought until the familiar voice came from her left.
She stared at him for a moment, sniffing a couple times to be sure and again cursing the cleaning for messing with her nose. "Blood Preacher... why here?" She asked curiously.
Lias took a drink of his water. "I was hired to protect the young lady, of course." He replied plainly, silently wondering if the Gods were against him since they kept dropping obstacles in his way. "Also, would you mind not calling me that around here? It may give people a bad impression of me."
"Rosetta call Blood Preacher what fit." She told him, turning back to the table. He perpetually smelled of blood and preached to people. What else was she supposed to call him? Lias? Hardly. She had enough trouble with the S sound in her own name that half the time it seemed to come out as Roetta. He'd have to deal with it or stop eating whatever made his breath smell like he'd just sunk his teeth into someone's throat.
Frowning at her but saying nothing more, Lias focused on his drink. Now he was glad he was looking after Catelyn. He doubted she'd want a smelly Kobold around her, so it would be a fine excuse for the two of them to keep their distance from each other.

Both Trevor and Artair watched but said nothing, not wanting to get involved. They just kept drinking waiting for everyone else to arrive. Trevor finally said something. "So tell us about yourself Lias. I'm wondering why a holy man such as yourself would be a guard...I thought you guys were all about peace and stuff like that."
A smile coming back to his face, Lias nodded at Trevor. "Indeed they are, sir. That is why I offered my services to this endeavor. If it ends in success, there will be some measure of peace in this land again. Any holy man would want that. However, few I know of would be willing to get their hands bloody, even in the name of peace. That is why I was sent here." He explained in a calm tone, taking another sip of water. "I have no problems eliminating anything standing between me and the objectives my church sets."
(I will be throwing Shita into this fray. If this is a world thought magic, then she will just switch to a short swords-woman for the cause.)
Standing a little ways away from the others, just inside of the corner, was a young woman with bright red hair. She stood formally, and politely, not looking at any particular person for longer than a few moments. Her eyes scanned over Artai for a moment, passed on, then landed on Garrick. She bowed low.
"Thank you sir, for allowing me to be a part of this." She had accepted only half the payment, under the terms that if they passed by a battle of any kind she would be allowed to halt the procession and search it. For what she was looking, the girl had not said.

Siltrake began to whistle in a happy and a humble tone as the red head walked up to the Garricks castle, his slender acrobatic figure highly misleading. He smiled with his blue eyes and looked at the gaurds and waved his hand to the his pale peach skin highly misleading. A tight fitting black shirt covered his torso and a pair of grey shorts. his legs were covered in tight fitting banadages. Siltrake certainly was an odd one he had a feminie feature that often men mistook him as a woman. Of course he didn't care either that he wasn't the Ideal knight or mercenary. However he approached the gaurd smiling." he-lloo thar I guess this is the residence of sir Garrick and he is seekeing escorts?" he asked politely and he patienly waited. He really didn't want to intrude but in all things he was the highwire of any place, never a dull moment in his presence.
The guard blinked and looked at the man. He had been informed not to let anyone else in for the night, but he wasn't sure if the noble might want to interview one more. He wasn't going to question if this man was a skilled fighter or not. He had seen a few of the people the noble hired and questioned it but not verbally.
"On moment. I'll see if Sir Halding is still taking people." the head guard said before going off and sending a servant to ask Garrick if he was or not. When Garrick got the news, he sighed honestly exhausted from interviewing people. So he sent off Aki to see if this person was worth keeping or not. Aki had been there the entire time during all the interviews so he knew what to look for and what not to look for. The servant came back out and quickly escorted Siltrake into a private room where Aki was waiting to interview him.
"You're a little late Sir...?" Aki asked as he looked over the...person, who had entered the room with the servant.

Siltrake bowed in politly and then held his head back up as he locked eyes with The man whom he was going to talking with. "ah forgive me sir, but it is awefully hard to get travel here, especially for someone who looks like I do. None the less sir, my Name is Siltrake Sunrae." He said again with a warming smile. He was rather curious who this event would go, he looked at the man with his blue eyes. he kept his arms close to his sides, polite and at the same time full of energy.
Aki stared at the strange character for a minute before he motioned for the other fellow to sit down. "Please, have a seat. I'm sorry to hear that you had a hard time getting here Sir Sunrae. I'm glad to see you could get in for an interview though. My name is Aki Wyberg. I'm a diplomat who has been sent by the king to go off to the country we are warring with and make peace. The noble who is organizing this, Garrick Halding, is currently attending to the other hired hands and has sent me to interview you for a position." He explained with a small smile on his face.
"As you most likely have already heard, we are looking for people to escort myself and Sir Halding's daughter, Catelyn Halding. If you don't mind my asking, what would qualify you for the job?" he politely asked the fellow across from him.

Siltrake sat down and then made eye contact to Aki and then crossed his fingers."I have skill in acrobatic as well skillfull handto hand combat. I also have improvisational skills when it comes to combat. I never have taken a life before, though I have been swift enough to enduce a man into vomiiting." he said wtih a cheery yet slighty disturbing her cleared his throat He kept that cheery smile on his face then addressed aki with a little more seriousness in his tone."well, but Mr. Aki thankyou for your concerns as well, Escorting the lady does not need worry about ahem...stray and or bandits. though im not proud of it, I have robbed bandits so I know there strategies." He said his Cheerful smiled disappeared from his face.
Aki stared at the man for a second, slightly shocked and kind of disturbed by the fact that he had induced a man to vomit before. He wasn't sure if that was more gross than a man slitting someone else's throat. "Well, none of the other mercenaries have claimed to know all the bandits strategies though some have said that they've fought them." he said as she shifted in his seat, still slightly stuck on the idea of someone vomiting. He coughed slightly and tried to force his mind back to focus on the stranger in front of him.
"So you are much better with hand to hand combat then rather then long distance?" He asked just to double check. "Do you have any training with any sort of weapon other than your hands?" he asked as he perked an eye brow at Siltrake.

The servant had, had an unusually hard time trying to find Blythe. She had been roaming around the city and had just made her way back to the noble's home when the servant huffed and quickly dragged her into the dinning room. Blythe couldn't help it, she loved walking around where the merchants and stands were. She hadn't stolen anything today but when she's in a busy setting like that, she tends to get grabby with items she likes. Of course she didn't tell the noble that. She had just told 'Sir Halding' that she was good with hand to hand combat and bow and arrows. He had seemed to like that, saying that no one else had claimed to use a bow what so ever. So she was informed she was to say close to the cart and be very alert.
"Sorry for my tardiness Sir Halding." she said as she walked into the dinning room where all the others who had been hired for the job were already sitting. She around the room, noticing the priest first. She thought it odd that a priest would join as a mercenary but the being sitting next to her rather shocked her. She had never seen a Kobold before. She wasn't frightened but she was rather amazed. She shook her head though and didn't stare not wanting to be rude. She then noticed a woman with bright red hair. She had only seen that once or twice before but she personally thought it was beautiful. Next she noticed the highlander. She smiled as she reached her seat but who she saw next was enough to make her want to run.
Sitting near by to the highlander was Trevor Henderson. She forced herself to sit down fairly close to the noble's daughter, and far enough away from Trevor thankfully. She looked down at her plate for a second before reaching up and quickly taking a swig of the ale. She cringed at the taste but swallowed it regardless. She turned to the noble, trying to act as if she hadn't seen anyone or thing out of the ordinary. "Where is Sir Wyberg?" she ask blinking, noticing that the diplomat wasn't at the table.
Garrick sighed and looked to Blythe. "He's interviewing one last person. We still have a few people to wait for anyways before dinner will be served." he said as he turned to his daughter with a smile. "We still are missing Ms Ceri along with three others." he said as he turned back to Blythe with a smile and a nod. Getting one in return from her.

Trevor nearly choke on the water he was drinking, when he heard Blythe speak. He slammed the mug down and turned his to look at Blythe. What the hell was she doing here!? He didn't say anything, looked back at his drink, squeezing it tightly enough that his knuckles started to crack
Artair leaned over towards Trevor. "you know her lad?" He asked
trevor just gave a slight nod
