Reading through today's news, I encountered some stories about Wolf 1061c, our nearest potentially habitable planet, roughly 14 light years from us. Not surprisingly, it got me thinking about the kind of multi-generation-spanning exodus it would take for an advanced (but pre-FTL) civilization to reach this planet. Even at extremely high velocities, it would likely still take hundreds (if not thousands) of years!
The travelers would require some form of self-sustaining ship or fleet, perhaps even a fully functional microbiome on board. What kind of effects would such extended captivity have on people? What kind of horrors (psychological or supernatural) might they encounter in the cold vastness of space?
I'm looking for some other inquisitive and imaginative people who would like to flesh out this idea with me. Themes may vary depending on the input provided, but expect some conflict and paranoia. Mostly humans, obviously, but the occasional mysterious life-form may fit too.
Dice may be used to keep some minor conflicts resolving quickly.

On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (generation ships)
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Details: Occasional dice use, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.
this sounds like a fascinating concept! there's a ton of potential here for exploration not just of space, but the human psyche:
how do those people feel who know they will never see this promised planet in their lifetime - that will live their entire lives in a fabricated bubble of a world? what kind of new societies, cults, and perhaps fully formed religions will develop in this transient state, and how will current ones adapt? do most people believe that humanity will survive long enough to see this planet? in space there are so many dangers that could snuff them out completely, and what if the scientists are wrong, and it's not hospitable at all?
i hope you get enough players to see this campaign happen, i'd love to find out where it goes! will see if any of my buddies are interested.
