We totally need a View unread posts and View new posts button on Group forums. Getting so hard to keep track of what's going on based on just the feed.
Anyway, just a suggestion! Thanks for reading!

I would like an option like this as well, not just for group forums but for the whole of the site. Something that marks whether you already replied to the topic or not (like in PMs) would be smashing too. It can be super hard to track which introduction topic was replied to, for example!

I agree. Or a views counter for forum topics. Its nice to see how many people take a look at your Looking for RP section and gauge interest in it. If its getting hits but no replies then its time to move on.

I'm not sure there's much of a benefit to a view counter. Just like a post counter, it doesn't add anything of value but can be a big source of drama. Not to mention you'd have to figure out what counts as a view - do bots who crawl the site count? Do non-registered or non-logged in members count? What about yourself viewing the topic multiple times? A view count doesn't really say much of anything, it just gives you raw data without context left for you to interpret however you wish. You could have 300 views but only 5 members who actually looked at it. And who's to say that just because a lot of people saw it and nobody replied, they're not interested? They could be reviewing their character list, creating a new character or they may be interested but don't have the time to devote to another story. There are countless of ways hits don't relate to actual interest.
Yes but at the same time it gives you a general idea of if your topic's being viewed and if so if its being replied to. If its not being viewed and not being replied to. Or the numbers are low it gives you a guess on where the stats are. You can make hit counters only register for logged-in views. In terms of what I am suggesting the view counter would represent the number of hits.
if say after 2 months you have 1000 hits or something and no replies or just one or two replies that gives you a good idea that your idea didn't take. I don't know an alternative to this that works but I like seeing the numbers to gauge what sort of plots I want to throw out there.

Some indicator of which topics have been read or not is quite popular, and I don't disagree that it would be quite useful!
We don't track this info on an individual basis right now, but I'd like to at some point in the future. Unfortunately, there's still a whole lot in front of it on the development list.
Regarding post views -- if implemented, it would count logged in users only, but again, would be of limited use in judging interest in your LFRP topics, as those posts appear in the Find RP search tool and those pseudo-views wouldn't be counted.

We appreciate all you do Kim. I'm just the monkey sitting here flailing and throwing things at you. Don't mind me! I just love RPRepository so much that I want to see if it's possible to squeeze more out of it.
That is totally fine! I really appreciate the suggestions even if I can't do them right this second.
