I'm not sure if anyone has suggested this before, so I apologise in advance.

Something that just came to mind whilst taking a lovely shower this Christmas morning was saving page layouts for character profiles.

This has been a feature on only few sites that I have seen (wikia and wiki-like domains excluded from what I can remember), and it would be nice to have for simplicity's sake. I'm a person that enjoys having their character profiles in a certain layout -- pages, information, all of that. And I'm sure that I'm not the only one. :'D

It gets tedious having to enter in all the information on a character's page when it could be simplified by having the option of "Oh hey, this is how you did your layout last time, would you like to apply it to this widget like you did for the last profile you made / edited?"

Below is a screen cap highlighting the areas where I feel this would be most beneficial, though I'm sure there are other widgets that could use saved layouts as well. :'3

It becomes a pain to write up the exact template over and over again, something like this could be really useful~!

This. All of this, this is beautiful. I'd love to have this feature as well.

It does get tedious just typing everything down for each template, especially since you also run the risk of placing some fields in the wrong spot.

If you mean putting a basic info widget out of order, did you know that you can drag your bullet points into any order that you wish?

I'm in favor of this! I would also pay money for extra slots - I could see something like 3 info templates being a default, 5 being the epic default and extra being purchasable. (Just an example.) Especially for mobile users this would be incredibly useful as they wouldn't have to switch between profiles to get a consistent setup!

Oh, I knew that for computers, but my smartphone doesn't like me when I try things like that. However, I think the feature in question would be very useful for those working on mobile, especially with some phones that don't drag and drop.

Just so I understand what's being discussed in this thread:

Are we talking about a system that remembers what fields you like to have in your basic info widget, OR are we talking about a system that remembers what pages (with names) and widget order on those pages (with names)? I get the feeling some people are talking about one and some people are talking about the other, and I am somewhat puzzled.

re: dragging on smartphones, I hope to fix that in the next few months!

Initially, I was talking about navigational layout, as seen in the top bar of character profiles, and with the Basic Info widget having the saved left side input to make it simpler to fill it out when working on new character pages. ; v ;

The Basic Info one is a bigger pet peeve of mine, just because I do spend a lot of time tabbing back and forth from a separate character's page to the new one, making sure everything is in order -- or rather, the order that I prefer it in. And I actually spent a lot of time going back and making sure all my character pages were in perfect sync with one another when I did all the Basic Info edits once I had a majority of my characters close to finished up. That definitely took some time. @ v @

I feel like the navigation layout takes more of a back seat to the Basic Info widget myself, but that's because it's not as time consuming to just make new pages and get them in order on that specific page. ; v ;

If there is a way to actually save a complete profile layout (navigation bar, individual pages, widgets -- all at once), that would be amazing, though I don't personally see that happening any time soon. I'm sure it's possible, I just feel like it would take a lot of time to make it work as opposed to just saving particular defaults to individual widgets or the character navigation. ; v ;
