I have spent very little time on RPR lately, due to Christmas stress on work and finishing up my thesis - which is done, handed in and double done! ~yay~
BUT! I forgot to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I hope you all had a wonderful time, spending it with friends and loved ones! Feel free to share some of your Christmas traditions here - I'm curious!
In my family we gather in the evening of the 24th of December. Then we have a dinner with roast duck and roast pork, caramelized potatoes and plain potatoes. The we of course also have two kinds of gravy - one made from the fat of the duck, and one made from the fat of the pork. Red cabbage on the side.
For dessert we have risalamande, which is a form of rice budding with chopped almonds. The one who makes the rice pudding puts in ONE WHOLE almond. The one who finds the whole almond get the "mandelgave"(almond present).
Then we dance around the Christmas tree, singing Christmas carols. We always finish with a song called "På Loftet Sidder Nissen" (On the attic sits the elf), and I don't have a clue why! It's a song about an elf who sits on the attic with his rice putting, and then the rats tries to steal the rice pudding and the elf threatens to get the cat, which scares the rats. It's quite fun.
Then we sit together in a circle-ish shape and open our presents. Once we're done opening, we go around the house, thanking everyone for the meal and presents, and then it's time for coffee and tea. We normally finish just after midnight.
