Serious question. I've already gone through tons of spoilers and watched videos from it and such, but I'd like to actually experience the story myself.
Problem is: I absolutely suck at "bullet hell" type games and am unsure I'd really be able to make much of any progress in it. Even the first boss fight looks like it might be too much for me to handle.
So is there, like, an "easy" mode if I get stuck, or some other way attacks can become less painful if I keep dying? Or is it really not as hard as it looks?

The combat isn't as difficult as it seems. I suck at bullet hell stuff too, and to my knowledge I've gotten a decent amount of progress. I think.
I've not played, but I keep hearing there's a pacifist route? Is that true?
Yea, there is a way to play it easier so to speak
Pacifist route is the one where you 'mercy' everyone. You spare them so to speak
The game will teach you
Watch a bit of some let's play or something at the beginning of the game and then see if you could manage it yourself?
There are multiple stories too depending on how you play it

I have watched some Let's Plays, and even the pacifist route requires dodging until you can end the fight.
I was told there is a demo though, so I'll be checking that out!

I've played it and beaten it on all three routes. By far, pacifist is the way to go.. You get a way better ending.
There's a lot of subtext in every fight, so really read into it. It was done really well, story line kept me going, and it's filled with some deep, deep plot holes.
Give it a whirl. I think steam last had it for 7.99?

Well, I played the demo, and I used every single healing item I had in the first boss fight after having made a point to buy extra. >.<
Best story development in any game I've played. You'll cry. Do it!!
