So I figured, it would be pretty cool to have events in one roleplay have tangible results in another. The group system is pretty robust, so I started there. What I've come up with is as follows, and I'm looking for suggestions, ideas, or problems this idea could run into:
-Drafted a universe with a set timeline of major events. I've created several major characters for this story line, and intend to use only one character per timeline (there's a few different stages in characters lives where they separate from everyone they knew. This would allow me to play those characters in past, present, and future without conflict). I'll be purchasing Epic status so that I may make room for many minor characters to take part in the various stories.
-The roleplays can take place across any timeline. If possible, I'll have multiple pages for various stages of the story. That way I can create a separate plot and setting summary for players in differing timelines, and have the players in different member-groups to avoid spoilers.
-Major and minor events during the roleplays can have ripple effects in every other roleplay. While there are very general, scripted events to help guide the plot along, the players' decisions will have a huge impact on how those events resolve or come about, and other players in other roleplays will feel the events in their respective timelines.
-Simple dice difficulty checks (without using modifiers or stats) could be used optionally as a quick way to guide battles in the RP and prevent railroading the plot or overpowered characters.
Example: A character that my main character interacts with in his past would give me new details to use in an rp taking place in his future.
Another example: A huge objective is completed by a group of roleplayers RPing with my own main characters. My minor characters, and their rp partners, would feel the effects of those decisions.
What'cha think?
