Looking for worlduilders and fantasy fans!
This is a roleplay idea I have worked very hard on - a low-magic, medieval-rennaisance, politically bent roleplay. The plot is that you belong to one of two nations (Murutha or Lar) who have been enemies for centuries but are now attempting to live at peace with one another: there is an expanding empire at their borders. You are a part of a mission to promote understanding between two very different cultures - whether a servant, a guard, or whatever! However, there are those who would rather die than see their leaders kowtow to a traditional enemy - expect assassination plots and secretive organizations. I am really open to ideas here, and although I have fleshed out the Murutha, the Lar could use some work - so any worldbuilders out there are welcome!
~ Plot ~
Two nations - the Murutha and the Lar - that have been sworn enemies for centuries attempting to create peace. The peace has been sealed and symbolized by a marriage between Osoru Yakshi of the Murutha and Isadakad va'Koikaj of the Lar. They and their retinue (which is always open to new characters) will spend six months in Muruthine territory and six months in Larish territory to try to come to an understanding of each other.
Murutha: The Murutha are a horned, nocturnal race inhabiting great stone cities nestled in the arms of the high mountains of Asvari, endlessly determined to preserve the knowledge and culture of Old Muruthavad - lost to humanity's fooliah tampering with greater powers. Among humans they have acquired a reputation for hubris, isolation, and cruelty - shutting their people out of their wealthy lands and settling petty feuds through slavers. They view themselves, however, as a people besieged by bloodthirtsy savages. If interaction with other peoples does not benefit in some way, they remain sheltered behind their high walls and in their airships above. Among themselves however, they are hospitable, generous, and think it honorable to make am individual sacrifice for the good of the whole. They value their honor and - when they choose to extend their hospitality - would rather die than see their guest harmed. In the Muruthine land of Teveiyahd, centuries of bloodshed between their people and humans and a war against a Southern empire has nearly broken their ruling clan - the Yakshi. They would surely have no cause to hope by now if - against all tradition - they had not deigned to ally with a human kingdom: House Koikaj of New Nara Vahl.
Lar: The Lar claim descent from the human nobles who survived the destruction of Old Nara Vahl. A proud warrior race, the Lar have been scattered by the winds into dozens of tribes after the Devouring, their past glory only a distant memory. Their land is a torn one. Despite their shared lineage, the ties between them are fickle at best: sometimes they war, sometimes ally - the only constant is their acknowledgement of a greater enemy: the Murutha of the mountains. It is they, the singers attest, who brought the Devouring down upon the world. In their hubris they reached for powers not meant to be known, stealing the empire, homeland, and history of the Larish people in the process.
Like the Murutha they seek to preserve the traditions of old, but much of their legacy is lost to them. They came to Asvari in desperate straits, the opportunity to salvage their past lost to the ages. All that remain are stories and songs, which they cling to dearly. The Murutha believe the Lar to be nothing but bloodthirtsty barbarians, ready and willing to overtake and destroy their civilization at the drop of a hat. While there is a great deal of ancient hatred between the two peoples, the Lar are not monsters by any means. They are masters of potting, steelworking, and breeders of horses which are the envy of Muruthavad. They strive for unity as shown through the exploits of House Koikaj. This noble house seeks to unite their fractured nation under one ruler and to rebuild some semblance of their past glory. When a lone Murutha was found stranded on their plain, his blood was overwhelmingly called for - but he was spared. This unexpected act of mercy created a bond between House Koikaj and Clan Yakshi which has lasted to this day, and most recently they have entered into a marriage pact and alliance between their people and their powerful Muruthine friends. It is their hope that this relationship will lend help to their goal of uniting the Lar and creating New Nara Vahl.

~ Factions ~
Plausible legends of ancient magic, but current magic is not common.
Renaissance
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Details: Freeform, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.
Sold. Gotta make a character though, I don't have any characters for fantasy settings!
~PCS~ (Thus far)
1. Isadakad va'Koikaj (Virtu): Second son of the most powerful Larish king, unhappily married to a Muruthine woman in an attempt to bring an end to the ancient enmity between the Murutha and Lar. His parents had Isad raised as a warrior, with plans to make Isad a general to their army. He was sent to his uncle’s home castle when he was 7 years old, and raised by the mother in etiquette and the father in marksmanship and swordsmanship. At 16, He and his uncle’s son, Rinue, swore an oath to grow in honor and valor, and be a general to an army. He has been jealous of his brother for the kingship, and his uncle has made constant mention of what Isad will not have -- the crown, in hopes of stirring this want up. He has not accepted the marriage to a Murutha in word; he only bowed before his father when he was told such. It was seen as a dutiful, though begrudging, action.
2. Osoru Yakshi (Arianrhod) : A daughter of the most powerful clan in Teveiyahd, Osoru has been witness to the politics and trials of her nation - Teveiyahd - since she was a child. Hers is a land in decline, its people having known a great deal of struggle, suffering, and loss. War with the Murutha of the South and the human tribes of the forest has left Teveiyahd's fate hanging by a thread: Osoru is one of those willing to bring about great change to save it - even allying with a human lord. Her will is ironclad and this risky, controversial move is simply an means to secure a future for her people. Has a worrisome tendency to be blinded by her goals: she deeply hurt her grandmother over this decision - and willingly, for she believed it to be for the greater good. Her zeal and stubborn determination for her cause have given her a fearful reputation - enemies to her cause fear her. Has few people she trusts, but those she does she cherishes. Erudite, calculating, pious, and an avid collector of artifacts and student of history.
3. Rinue va'Koikaj (open): Isad's cousin an childhood friend who chose to accompany him to Muruthavad. His fierce loyalty to his friend drove him to follow him to the edge of the Larish world, a journey for which he is very excited for. A Larish warrior, established thus far as diplomatic. Open to further development by whomever plays him.
