Oh, look, it's the first time I'm making a topic in Smalltalk, but it's something I'm curious about...
Does anyone use RPR or roleplaying in general for development of a video game or MMO project? Or maybe for writing novels? I mainly wanna hear about the ones who use it for video games, though.
What I mean is, you use roleplay to develop character backgrounds, flesh out battle mechanics or statistics that come to mind as you think of them, etc. But not for just roleplay fun and enhancing how you RP... You wanna use what you've come up with in video game development.
I just wanna see how many people use RPR and the like for video game dev ideas, maybe hear what they have planned! I know people use it for novel development too, and I wanna hear those ideas too. It's just a curious thought!
((And if someone made this thread already, or if this is in the wrong spot, forgive me and you can delete it or move it to where it would be more appropriate. ;w; ))

I use roleplaying to develop my own writing skills and characters that I use for stories. Many of my characters have their own story. Most games I design are done incandescently of RPR or RPing in general (though I have worked on a few specifically for RPs).
Yes, actually. At the moment, the video game my team is making is strictly proprietary, so I don't use that universe for roleplay. My tabletop engine and universe, however, is frequently a setting for many RPs, and I use it to develop a wide range of my characters. I also allow and encourage players to create their own content, like plot points, sub-races (I'm set on the main races, but I like to see what branches of those races people create, if any), technology, and political struggles.
Yup!, most of my RP characters are either loosely based or directly taken from one of my games or projects. I've been a developer for several years now and sometimes it helps to reverse the process and create RPs based on a game idea.
