So, I just started my second semester here at UTA and neither the semester nor the year started out well for me. In fact you could say it was kind of a devastating time for me personally. In an effort to take on much if the advice I've received I thought I'd try to break my recent isolation and go out and try to make some friends on campus.
Unfortunately, besides my being in a bad place already, combined with my long time tendency to shy away from the social scene, it's a bit difficult for me. I thought maybe if there were any other students here that it may be an easy start to work my way there, and if not, what are some ways you all can suggest to help me meet some new people?

Keep an eye out for (free) guest lectures that interest you and use them as a chance to learn neat stuff and mingle with people you'll never have to see again if you don't want to. Once you've gotten comfortable with that, consider joining a club.
