Salimud scoffs. "Science hurts more people than it helps. If only the scholars would see just what they are doing when they send children through hell, they would stop."
He sighs and looks at Shadow. "Men who lack remorse and a sense of humanity. Lucky to be considered men at all."
She sighed. "They won't stop until they get what they want..." She said.
Salimud chuckles. "I don't know what they could possibly want that outweighs human life. I suppose anything is worth it to an individual driven by selfishness."
She looked away... "I miss my parents...They took me away from them..." She said.
Salimud sits quietly for a while, then says, with a grave look on his face, "So you were taken from your parents too?"
Alex took an enormous gulp and slammed his empty mug on the table. "Damn, that sucks guys."
She sighed. "That's just how life is..." She said. "And that's the cold, hard, truth..."
"Look, if you dwell too much on the past, or stay too long in the present, you are certain to miss the future."
She chuckled. "You're right. But the past and the present can both affect the future." She said.
"Yes but when that is your only concern, and not that which has, will or is happening, then problems arise." He said, rising to go get a refill.
"It doesn't come from me, it comes from a wise man I once knew." He walked off to the bar.
"Wisdom. One of the best gifts any person can give another." Salimud gets up and follows Alex to get a refill.
Alex saw Salimud make his way to the bar and spoke to him in a sardonic way saying, "What is next oh grand trip master?"
