"Stardate 38417.2. Captain's log. Begin recording.... This is Aniele Haupt, Captain of the Jokalo. Ownership has passed to me, and my mother has taken her crew with her. I'm alone here, except for Tica. I've posted an advertisement to the local spaceport, and expect applicants to show up soon. Mom sold most of the extraneous systems. You're back to the basics, Joker." Aniele pauses, looking around the bridge and basking in the emptiness. "Mom was nice enough to leave the ship a couple thousand credits, an estimated 2000% increase from what Gran left her. Poor gran." Aniele stands up, stretching. "I've already got a first job lined up for the new crew, a simple pickup and delivery from HA-628 to VE-170. Short trip, luckily." Aniele smirks. "I guess that's all for now, Joker. The applicants should be arriving any minute now, and I've got just a tad more cleaning up to do, so... Yeah. End recording."
Aniele gets up, leaving the bridge to go and finish preparing the ship for the new arrivals.

A young woman with short brown hair and chocolatey-brown eyes could be seen approaching the ship, seemingly having nothing more than the clothes she had on and the pack on her back. She sighed and muttered something, looking at the paper map she held in her hands, she then noticed the ship and approached it. "Huh... Uhm, hello?" The girl shouted supposedly to the inhabitants to the ship, her voice slightly shaky. "Can anyone tell me if this is the Jako- No wait, Joko- No no, er... The Jackalope?"
A small airlock near Chidori wooshes open, and our steps Aniele, clothed in a sparkling blue suit, complete with a matching, equally sparkly hat. First, Aniele looks the other way, then turns, and spots Chidori, causing her to jump in surprise.
"Oh, an applicant! Please, do come here! What is your name, child? I wasn't expecting anyone this early!" Aniele obviously lies, given that she is dressed like she is ready to receive seas of applicants. "Come on! Come, come!" Aniele smiles broadly, waving Chidori toward her.

"Oh um, the name's Chidori Akiko Madoka, I believe I signed up for the Communications spot. Pleasure to meet you miss!" Chidori walked over to the woman with a wide smile, her simplistic outfit swishing about. "Hm... It's certainly a lot nicer here then back where I'm from... Which is really stormy." Once Chi reached the woman, she held out a hand to her, which was slightly shaky with anticipation and excitement.
Aniele takes the hand, beaming. "Oh yes. Stellar reviews, you had. Joker just knew ya'll would get along splendidly!" Aniele releases the hand, stepping aside and gesturing inward. "Oh, yeah, if you'll please step into the airlock and choose a suit rack, Joker'll identify you as a crew member. It's a simple retinal scan and handprint identifier. Nothing tough."
"Alrighty!" Chidori then walked up into the airlock and then hung her backpack, but hesitated for a moment. "Can I put my bag up here for now?"
"Yeah, that'll be fine. Joker'll make sure you get it to your room once things are settled." Aniele steps inside, and looks around, allowing the airlock to close behind her.
"Alrighty." Chidori hung up her bag, then looked about. "So, um, where are the scanners and such, miss?" Her voice was laced with exaltation and her cheeks a light pink from all of the excitement. "Also, who's Joker?"
Aniele laughs. "Never been on such a high tech ship, have ya? Come here." Aniele walks over to what appears to just be wall, and point at a spot on it. "Put your hand, right there, and then, well, you're a bit small, so just like stand on your tiptoes and look at the wall. Most everything in the airlocks retract to prevent damage to systems in the event of boarding." Aniele smiles, as if it was her idea. "You'll meet Joker in a minute. He's probably raring to meet you."
"Okay..." Chidori would stand on her tippy toes, placing the things needed for scanning in the right position with a huge smile. "It's strange, like you said, the most 'high-tech' ships I've been on are the travel ships which even then, those are pretty ancient, or so I've heard."
A small, red light shines into Chidori's eyes, and another light flashes under Chidori's hand. Seconds later, the wall begins pulling back into itself, and an empty spacesuit holder slides out of the freshly created hole. Inside the holder is a datapad, blinking, apparently waiting for input, a small abscess for holding personal materials, and a small panel of switches.
"Yeah, we're pretty high tech. My mom rode the technology boom, testing a lot of stuff on this old beaut. She's borne it all remarkably. Mom sold off most of the augments, didn't touch internal systems though, so we've got a nice basic ship, a great AI, and amazing internal technology." Aniele smiles. "All the stuff in there is yours. If you'll please step on in and put your name on that datapad, Jester will size you for a spacesuit." Aniele smiles again, broadly.

"Okie dokie!" Chidori smiled then stepped onto the pad, then she pressed the keys which spelled out, C-H-I-D-O-R-I. She giggled a little, as it was all new, taking everything. "So... What's next and when do I get to meet everyone else?"
"As of this moment, you are the only applicant to have arrived." A voice booms from the ceiling as a tiny holographic man appears on the wall in front of Chidori. "I am Joker, AI of the ship. Hello Chidori. Please flip the second switch and enable 'privacy mode' to begin being fit for your spacesuit." The holographic man walks along the wall to stand about the switch. "Then, I must ask you to stand perfectly still while I blast you with air to determine the dimensions of your body. People have experienced minor discomfort at this, and thus the Captain has asked me to advise new members to remain clothed. This will not adversely affect the safety of your spacesuit."
Chidori nodded then flipped the second switch as she was told, watching the holograph with curious eyes. She then took a deep breath and stood still, ready for the air to come blowing at her.
The air starts off as just a tiny breeze, blowing into Chidori's face, but quickly increases to a strong inferno, pushing at Chidori from all sides.
"Fitting complete. What colors would you like your spacesuit to be?" Joker asks, moving to stand back in the center of the wall.

"I'd like it to be red and whie please!" Chi exclaimed with a gentle smile, slightly winded from the raging air that had once been there moments before. She still watched the man with a curious eye, looking rather intrigued almost.
"Very well. Please review the map on your datapad for the path to your quarters, and don't forget to take your bag. I am fabricating your spacesuit now, and by the the time you reach your room the closets should be full of clothing that both fits you and matches your colors. Your spacesuit will be ready in 2 hours. Farewell!"
Joker's hologram disappears.
Joker's hologram disappears.
"Alrighty... See ya!" She looked at the datapad, looking for her room. Once she found it, she simply nodded and stepped out of the cubicle-like area. She grabbed her bag and then headed off to the direction of her room, a big goofy smile on her features.
When Chidori reaches the room, she finds that it is empty, devoid of anything. Her datapad vibrates, with a message from Joker.
"Please use the attached application to design your room as you see fit. Feel free to take a nap, for I will wake you when the others arrive."
"Please use the attached application to design your room as you see fit. Feel free to take a nap, for I will wake you when the others arrive."
Chidori tilted her head to the side, then used said application to see what it did.
